McFarlands Septic Tank Service Reviews (1)

we had a leak of the septic system approx. 150 ft from the house. McFarland septic repaired, instaled new pipes now leak less than 25 ft from house. Since May 16 we have made several attempts to get them to come out, approx. 6 phone calls, emails, no return call, and no appointments. Was told to get someone else to come out if we want. We paid them almost 3thousnad dollars to fix the leak that was approx. 100 ft from the house, now our children cannot play on the gym set, or in the yard due to sewer leakage, and smell. We are not willing to pay someone to RE-FIX a repair that was obviously poorly done, we feel it is McFarland's responsibility to inspect the issue they called themselvs fixing and make the appropriate adjustments and stand by thier name. We have told them, that we feel they did not do a replicable job for the money paid. We are very disapointed in their service, settlement, and response to their cutomer. We have only used this company for septic maintaince, and have lost all trust in their business. We fell taken advantage of, and cheated out of our hard honest earned money. It is now June and our children cannot enjoy the fruits of thier yard for active play because septic leakage is spilling onto the gym area and under the gym set. With continued contamination of septic waste, this will cause an additional problem of possible unhealthy contamination and loss of an expensive cedar wood set that should have a lifetime of usage, but due to waste reminance and contamination the set may have to be replaced. If so It will not be at our expence. Additionally, they repaired the problem when they knew no one would be home, so we have no proof they actually fixed the problem or made a very exspensive patch repair.repair date: 9-9-2011invoice#- [redacted]pmt- 2,595multiple attempts made to [redacted], [redacted] and returning Mr. [redacted] call.Desired Settlementwe are requesting they make an honest effect to come out check on the problem and fix the obvious issue. There is no way on Gods earth that a new pipe line should be leaking above the grounds in 2.5 years if the job was done according to code. We had to have a permit from the county to fix this problem. McFarland should 1.make right a wrong done to a family.2. inspect the problem3. appropriatley fix the problem they were paid to do in the first place.4. all work done when homeowners are home since they are not to be trusted to do a honest respectful job.Business Response First I would like to say I regret the difficulty in me and the customer getting together. I did try to return her call however, she was not available at the time. As far as her complaints about my work in early September 2011, my work was inspected and approved before covering by the [redacted] County Environmental Health Department. Initially I met with the customer and the county inspector to discuss the surfacing of her septic system. The customer agreed that I would evaluate the system. After I evaluated the system the customer the inspector and I met again on site to discuss the needed repairs. After we discussed the repairs needed and the price the customer gave me permission to proceed with the work. She never stated that she wanted to present during the work. However, I do recall she was at home during part of the process. All my work was performed with her permission and nothing was covered without the county's inspection and approval which is on record at the county office. I do not see how I can be responsible for work that was performed three years ago. I cannot control how a customer treats or maintains their septic system. Her septic system is located on a wooded site which makes it more susceptible to root infiltration which was her initial problem. I regret to hear that she is having additional issues however, my work was performed in a satisfactory manner. If you would like a copy of the approval from the county I will be happy to forward the information to you.Consumer Response I am much disappointed in this matter. If McFarland feels his work was satisfactory, can it be explained why no one ever came out to even look at what the problem could be. As for the care of the system, the system has been pumped as recommended since we purchased the home, every 3 years. If the pipping was correctly installed, then there should not be any "infiltration" in the line, additionally, if the line was installed correctly, then why would there be a leak closer to the home. We contacted them to not only look at the leakage, but pumped the tank at the recommended time -every 3years, but McFarland failed to pump the tank, We believe because they know there was faulty work done. I was not home and did not request the work be done without the home owner on site. It appears that this matter will not be resolved, which makes the statement "McFarland has taken advantage of a family, their finances, and knowledge of septic systems"Consumers Be aware Be very awareWe will do research on others that have not been serviced professionally.Final Business Response I am sorry you feel our work was not done properly however, I disagree. It was inspected and approved by a county inspector. I am currently on an extended vacation. I will return the week of July 14th. At that time I will be happy to set up an appointment with you and a county inspector to evaluate your problem.
