Review: We hired [redacted] to do the landscaping for our new construction. We contracted them for plantings, paver walkways and patios, sod, sprinklers, driveway, and retaining walls. As part of our contract, [redacted] said he would include a year's worth of maintenance on our property, which he valued at $2,000 in his contract. We had many issues with the work his team did, but here are the biggest complaints. He raised the entire grade of our property up a foot, which forced us to have to install Window Wells for our basement windows. Before we hired [redacted], the grade of the property was under the basement windows (we have pictures to prove this.) After he did his work, the grade jumped up a foot over the windows. We never wanted window wells, and the moment we found out, we requested a meeting with him. He told us that it was already done, and if we wanted to "fix" the grading mistake HE MADE, it would cost us an additional $10,000. We were left with no choice but to keep it as is, since we refused to put out more money than we already did. The second biggest issue is there are pockets throughout our lawn. As you walk across, you can easily break an ankle on an uneven area of the lawn. [redacted] did NOT use topsoil to grade our property, he used back-fill from a different construction project, which included sticks, rocks, and clay. He did not compact this back-fill properly, and that caused settling, which is causing these divots and holes in our lawn. We moved our entire house in over the lawn, and almost tripped on countless occasions. When we brought these issues up, he did not respond at first. We noticed our lawn getting very high, and determined it was three weeks that they did not come to cut the lawn. He finally responded, and said that we were the problem, not him, and he told us he had NO intention of coming back to fulfill the year of maintenance that he included in his contract. We are owed money for the mistakes he made, and the services he refuses to make good on.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of the money for the maintenance package that he refuses to provide for us. He claimed this was a $2,000 value. We would also like an additional $10,000+ refund to fix the grading issues he caused. We would like to lower the grade of our property down to where it was before he started, and have a professional landscape crew lay new sod, so we can walk on our lawn without fear of getting hurt.
