Dear Ms. [redacted]: I am in receipt of the complaint you filed with the Revdex.com, and attempted to call you to discuss that Complaint but was unable to reach you. As such, I thought to instead send an email as my response.  While it is the position of McGann & Chester, LLC that the...

subject towing and storage of your 2015 Honda CRV, as performed under our contract with the University of Pittsburgh, fell outside of the scope of any City ordinance, we nevertheless do listen to our customers and care about our reputation in the community as a whole and the Revdex.com in particular.  In addition, I have three children presently enrolled in college, one of whom attends the Pitt main campus, and know how troublesome parking can be.  With that in mind, and so that this matter may be amicably resolved, we agree to refund to you the Revdex.com complaint disputed amount of $55.00.  A check payable in that amount to you, as the registered vehicle owner, will be mailed today.  If you would like to further discuss this matter, or if your son Casey or you run into this sort of problem in the future, please do not hesitate to email or call me.Thank you.Bob M[redacted]

Review: My 1998 Mercury Mountaineer was towed on December 10th at 4:30pm on [redacted] ave. We I got to the to we company they said my SUV wasn't their when it was I waited a half hour went back in then they said my plate was removed by the cop. But it wasn't when they put it on the bed of the to we truck. So a guy worker (tall, skinny Caucasian) said he'll look to see if it was still on. He came back and said nope its not there. So there for I had to go to triple A and get a new plate registrationand title which was in my sisters name she sold it to me. The total was $160.00 plus the so called second day of $19.00. When I got back up there the next day we seen that the way plate was still in the SUV.He lied for no reason I lost a day of work $8.00 an hour total $64.00. The lady at front desk said she can not refund me but sh will talk to him about it. I should be refunded $243.00 for the inconvenience when I could have got my car back that night.Desired Settlement: $243.00 for the employee lieing and missed day of work and money that I would not had to pay until march 2015 when the registration was due.

Review: Please take a moment to read this review before you considering using this company. My company has been in business since 1999. I have never posted a review online about a company before that I was dissatisfied with that I did business with until now. I thought that I should share my story so that you do not get taken advantage of. The Pittsburgh police asked this company to tow my company's limo because it had been vandalized. The company towed our limo and the charge was over $500. The tow was approx 5 miles. The company charged me another near $100 to put the tires on the limo that I brought to their building and use the jack I brought telling me that I could not do it myself. My company is located two hours away and therefore I had no choice but to pay whatever they charged me considering I needed the limo the next day to serve a customer. Here is where the real problem occurred. I asked them to give me a break down of my bill, because I sensed I was being taken advantage of. It seemed high considering I just had a similar vehicle towed over fours hours away and the rate was the same when they only towed it maybe 5 miles. Every time I called the company asking for the breakdown they told me it was online. I asked where I could find it. Several times they said they don't know. The last time I spoke to the owner the owner replied to me, Dude go online and find it yourself. In my opinion if you are charging a rate and it is posted online the company should be able to tell you where to locate it. Also each time I asked for a break down of the bill each person stuttered and gave me different reasons why it equaled that amount. I never got the same story twice. I called the office to ask them to give me a quote on the same service with all the same details not disclosing who I was. The rate was almost half what they charged me.Desired Settlement: Being they did not have permission from me to two the vehicle and we had a mechanic on the way I think we should get a full refund. Although after doing my research and also getting a quote from the company not stating who I was for the exact same service I believe I should get atleast a refund of $225 at the very minimum.

Response:

I am in receipt of your letter of September 3, 2013, in regards to the above case, and our company response is as follows:

At 4:46 a.m. on July 7, 2013 (a Sunday morning) McGann & Chester, LLC ("M&C") was dispatched by the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to secure, tow and impound an abandoned black 2003 Hummer H2 limousine owned by [redacted], d/b/a [redacted] At 5:05 a.m., an M&C driver arrived on the scene in a medium-duty wrecker, as was requested by police. At that time, the M&C driver noted that both passenger-side limo tires were slashed, and that no limo operator with whom the driver could discuss that status was present. Because two of the tires were slashed, the limo could not be towed with a medium-duty wrecker, and more than one person was needed to both load and unload the limo. As a result, I was called at home at about 5:15 a.m., whereupon I went to our company lot, picked up a Landoll tractor with attached tilt trailer (the appropriate combo to haul a 37' long stretch limo with flat tires) and drove it to the scene. The limo was loaded by the M&C driver and myself, and then hauled on the tractor-trailer back to our impound lot, where it was unloaded and secured. The result was a highly-justified $516 towing bill. .

Having addressed the gist of the complaint, I will also comment on the other allegations contained therein: ,

• City police ordered that the limo be towed and impounded, so that permission of the owner was not necessary, nor even relevant;

• The limo was towed from [redacted] Avenue to our impound lot in the City of Pittsburgh, a distance of more than seven (7) miles, and not the five (5) miles that the complainant claims;

• M&C charged a fee of $35 per tire to change both passenger-side tires, and not $100 as complainant claims;

• Absent proof of valid worker's compensation insurance (which claimant was unable to provide) NO vehicle work is to be performed on M&C premises by ANY customer; and

• Complainant was given a copy of his invoice, which included an itemization of charges.

Please know that McGann & Chester, LLC prides itself on maintaining an exceptional reputation for honesty and integrity, and we take these types of allegations very seriously. As such, please feel free to call me if you have any questions or need more information.

Thank you for your time and attention.
