In response to your inquiry, Thanks for the heads up. This was an interesting one, the story changed a little each time we spoke. Initially the complaint was the comment made by one of my staff about an upcharge regarding our PA System rental. It was under her breath and Kelsey's...
father was the only one I was told heard it. The employee was reprimanded. I did watch the surveillance video both times she called, first was a quick over view, I noted nothing out of the ordinary, and due to the low volume of the remark, I could not hear it, so I took Kelsey's word for it. Her guests started drinking at 5:17, yes, that was a cash bar as her event was from 6-9. At 5:57 Alan putthe sign up for complimentary draft beer choice. No one was told soda only, we host over 100 banquets each year, Alan comes from 30+ years as a banquet host/manager. He would have no reason to tell anyone soda only, due to the fact all servers/bartenders work for tips as well, why would they minimize their opportunity to make money. We host meetings and holiday parties sometime 2-3/day. This day was the second event for us. Very low volume of drinks served, two people at the bar with Alan one male, one female with a long sweater for 26 minutes, only those two had drinks, no other person approached the bar except one child for soda, 5:56 and 6:12. Food was brought out between 6:02 and 6:04, no one approached the bar until 6:22, the room went dark at 6:20 for the surprise guest entrance. Of those that approached the bar, there were conversations that lasted 1-2 minutes, no dissatisfaction Iwas able to detect, shaking hands and laughing. All guests had finished eating by 7:12, last person to the buffet. [redacted] also told me we refused to allow them to take the leftover food, so again, the video footage shows someone asking my staff for "to go" containers, which we produced at 8:33. By 8:45 all leftover food was boxed, bagged and picked up by a guest coming from the middle of the room. [redacted] was insistent on me doing something, I asked, what can I do? No clear request at all, just she was unhappy. ln our earlier conversations I was very upset with my staff and assured [redacted] if her accusations were correct I would fire those involved. Further investigation on my part, and telling her there was no merit to the accusations, left her frustrated. Had she even mentioned she wanted a lunch or whatever, I would certainly have obliged. But when I asked her what do I need to do, no definitive answer other than she was considering booking another event with me and now will not. This appeared to me to be a person wanting something for nothing, we get them all the time, almost pick them out when they walk through the door. You can just tell there will be no satisfying them. The party went to cash bar at 9:00, 5 people at the bar at 8:54, Alan took the complimentary draft sign down at 8:57, next drink served was at 9:24. Guests stayed in the room unti19:45. My staff stayed to clean up after all guests were gone. Respectfully, Timothy P. [redacted], Managing Member
