Review: I lost my keys to my [redacted] 2004 ion and called the dealership to get a new key made. I paid 474.84 for key that they told me had to have a chip in the key and once it was programmed other keys for the vehicle would have to be reprogrammed. My parents sent me the second keys out of state this week and I tried to the key to see if it would start the car and it did and I was able to drive on it. I then wondered if the dealership was lying about the key actually having a chip in the key and went to [redacted] were they sell chip keys and un-chipped keys. The worker took my key and put it through a machine to see if there was a chip in the key and realized there wasn't and gave me a two dollar key which started my car and allowed me to drive the vehicle . I called the GM and spoke to the service manager who gave me the story there is a chip and couldn't explain why the vehicle would drive on a non-chip key and wouldnt issue a refund. I feel the dealership lied about [redacted] needing a chip key and other dealerships are doing the same thing.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the money for the key and labor of three hours that they are saying it took and will pay for the remote because I needed that, but it shouldnt take three hours for a key to be cut by a machine and they only have to program the remote which should have taken 30 minutes or a hour max.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:i have no issue with the work performed I had an issue when I went to get house keys and decided to get another key cut for my car off the original when the guy who cut the key checked to see if there was a chip in the car and stated there was no chip in the key and cut me a two dollar key which started and drive my car. I then called the dealer and spoke to the general manager who said I had to speak to Ryan the customer service manager and he gave me an answer I don't know why a key without a chip would start the car. I am disputing the fact that they charged me almost 490 dollars for a key they claimed had a chip in it and here a key without a chip worked and started the car don't bypass the real issue with the check engine light and I had no key. I'm not disputing that but when you are overcharging for a key that claims my car needs a chip in the key and I got one that didn't that worked just as good and started the car is my issue. I worked for [redacted] and [redacted] in [redacted] and you could just cut a key by the VIN with my showing ownership and it would have been less then 400 dollars. That is the issue I have you're cheating people out of money.

Review: I purchased a vehicle June 25, 2015. The moment I got home, I noticed a loud noise coming from the car. I brought it over the following morning to have the dealership's service dept take a look at it. They said they could not work on it that day because they were already full, but gave me a quick fix to temporarily stop the issue. I brought it in again on Monday, July 6th; they had to order the part. Brought it in today, and they tell me that I have to pay a $50 deductible to have the issue repaired and that I should be "thankful" that I had a warranty to cover the issue. It's interesting to note that they knew of a quick solution to keep the noise from occurring. Clearly, they knew that the car had this issue, and used this trick to keep an unaware consumer from learning about it until it was too late. I think it's wrong that they will not even consider covering this as a courtesy to a customer. They sold the car and that's all that matters to them. Simply ridiculous!Desired Settlement: I would like the issue to be repaired free of charge because it occurred the moment I got home. I believe they were aware of the issue and deliberately used this "solution" to hide the problem until after I purchased the vehicle.

Response:

We were aware of the issue and so was the customer...before the actual sale they knew about it. They were fine with it and were shown that if they hit the recirculate button the noise goes away. Apparently after they took delivery of the vehicle they decided to come in and have it fixed. The extended warranty that they purchased which, by the way covers powertrain only, has a $50$deductible. Had the customer not known about the noise before purchase or had we figured into the purchase fixing the noise I would certainly refund them for the cost to fix it. But we were clear about it and they knew about the noise and purchased the vehicle knowing if they hit the recirculate button it would get rid of the noise.
