McKeel Electrical Service Reviews (%countItem)

of McKeel Electrical Service has been fired due to failure to complete paid work, damage to property (walls) , removing ceiling planks from my property without following thru on reimbursement.
$1400 for paid yet unfinished work, plus wall damages= $300, and monetary reimbursement = $480 for two circa 1910 ceiling planks (32 ft) removed from my property

$1400 is for 'Rewire & add additional receptacles'. Electrician stated verbally & in writing (after being paid) that he, 'haven't figured that out yet': 'that? is the rewire and adding additional receptacles.
After researching online and speaking with commercial electrician, this is not difficult

Damages to walls (holes) where switch boxes were removed & replaced, no mention or about damage/intent to repair.
I do not want the same damages to my walls when the receptacles are rewired/added.
Removed 2 ceiling planks from my property stating he would compensate with a substitute that I could use to walk on and move about in my attic.
Substitution for these planks is no longer available, monetary reimbursement is the only option. These types of planks cannot be bought at *** or *** as they are thicker, and the tongue and groove between the old and new will not join together well.

I had been actively searching for an electrician for over a year to remove & replace knob & tube and fix open ground problem with some receptacles per 2018 home inspection report
Did research online for this electrician with no complaints from customers
Electrician has Bible verse on truck: Matthew 5:16, 'In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds ad glorify your Father in heaven? added additional security.

I will now be very wary of Christian tradespeople: he has lost his witness & testimony

Desired Outcome

Refund $2080 refund, NON-NEGOTIABLE Written contact only, electrician is not welcome on my property

It is with a heavy heart that I repond to this complaint. I went above and beyond for Ms. and the fact that she has spoken of me and my company this way is very disheartening. I had already done a service change for her. It passed inspection and the inspector spoke to her very highly of the job we did for her. She was happy . This next job, I agreed to come to her property and remove the knob and tube wiring and to rewire the 3 rooms believed to be associated with that wiring. We were in agreement and done a written contract. We also verbally discussed that any additional wiring or issues presented would be an additional cost. We were in agreement. I removed all knob and tube, as I said I would. I re wired what was associated with the knob and tube wiring. The only thing remaining was 2 extra outlets that we were going to add. We verbally discussed doing this project at a later date due to the fact that it was located at the lowest point under the house. She had a home inspection report with multiple issues on this older home. We discussed doing the list in stages with the first being the service change and knob and tube rewiring. At no point did we discuss re wiring of the ungrounded receptacles that she wanted done that were not associated with the knob and tube wiring. I went out on a Saturday morning and spent 2 and a half hours discussing this with her. I never told her I don't know what is going on. When she states that I said I haven't figured that part out yet, I was referring to the cost of the additional work she wanted done. I had several hours of work Estimating multiple projects for her. Me and my employee worked for 10 days on her job. I completed the contract in full as agreed. There was no damage done in the removal and re wire or the service change. We did not put holes in the wall at all. As far as the planks , she agreed to trade older, brittle narrow boards for wider safer boards. However, she never gave me the opportunity to bring them over. We made multiple attempts to address the issues and resolve them. I am deeply upset that she is upset. We went above and beyond and spent many hours doing projects for her that we were never compensated for. We hauled off plaster for her, built a wall for her, etc. We always do our best to insure customer satisfaction and even spending extra time to make sure every project is done professionally and completely. I have hundreds of satisfied customers who will gladly vouch for my work ethic and character. I regret Ms *** is unhappy, but I think she may be overwhelmed with the amount of work that the home needs. I also regret that she is attacking me personally and my religion. I am a Christian and I run my business accordingly. I do what is fair, and I have not in any way mistreated Ms ***. Nor have I done work that was not complete. I have been nothing buy kind and respectful. I wish her the best and am very sorry we could not make her happy.

The three items within the complaint have not been addressed.
I repeatedly spoke about fixing the ungrounded outlets as a priority & I would not move on to the comfort of additional exterior lighting until this was done. The electrician used the tactic of chaining one job to the next to increase his charges & the ungrounded outlets were held hostage with this maneuver. Friends (educators, an architect, plus a commercial & highly experienced electrician) find the cost of this first job to be 'excessive' for what was done.
Secondly, the damage around the switch plates cannot be covered with larger plates & will have to be repaired. I will be leaving these as is as it opens up conversation and meaningful discussion about who we allow into our homes as far as the trades are concerned & what steps we should take to make sure we hire the best people.
3. As no compensation has been received for the vintage 110 year old planks, it is reasonable for any person to treat this as a matter of stolen property.
My terms for resolution of this complaint remain the same

1st= Main issue was Service Upgrade and Knob & Tube rewiring. Customer insisted that 2 additional receptacles were added in areas that she didn't have receptacles. Contract never stated rewiring of ungrounded receptacles. We discussed this verbally on multiple times that this would have to be a separate project. We also discussed that to complete all projects she wanted accomplished, that it would take several weeks. In no way was there a chaining of projects. I've never heard this tactic in my 26 years of construction. I calculated the material and the man hours that would be involved to complete the tasks associated with estimate emailed over. I went over on a Saturday for 2.5 hours and discussed what was needed to complete work. Verbally discussed the need to separate all task and that I would have to work Ms. into my schedule. The educators, architects, or professionals haven't look the residence. An architect doesn't know what my burden rate is nor how to run an Electrical Business nor does a educator. A commercial electrician is different than a residential.
2nd- The plaster around the switch boxes are an associated risk when removing old switch boxes and installing new ones. Previous contractor had did repairs to box area and cutting of box from vibrations worked a few minor spots loose around box. Ms. said not to worry about it because she was having to paint and other areas needed repair as well. No unnecessary holes were cut and all work was done in good workmanship. Again, we discussed that we were not responsible for any plaster damage. Plaster is a very unpredictable material. Care was taken to not unnecessarily damage plaster.
3rd- Wood was to be replaced with boards that were wider and placed in attic in a safe manner. Ms. never gave me an opportunity to install the boards in attic
