Yes we do give quotes/estimates over the phone.  That is all they are is estimates until we have the actual paperwork in our hands to figure...

the DMV fees.  Which we still only estimate DMV fees.  When we found that Michelle Powell's car was not just an out of state, that it was an out of state with a lien sale packet daated back to 2012 that changed all of the DMV fees.  This vehicle had a lien put on it way back in 2012.  Therefore that is when the fees became due.  With out seeing the paperwork we have no way of determining that.
When Michelle came into our office and we told her what she was looking at as far as fees.  She went ahead and paid them and did not dispute anything.  We then took the paperwork to the DMV and they actually lowered them a bit so we were able to refund her $186.00.  Therefore the DMV fees went down to $442.00.  I will attached all documentation showing the refunds and quotes plus, the dmv fee read out.
I knew by her anxiety that the money was a huge issue to her and she was having trouble getting it to pass smog.  So, I went to the DMV and received an additional temporary operating permit for 30 days. I did not charge her the standard $20 fee for that service.  I also refunded our service fee of $79.00 after we were able to clear her item and give her the plates and tags.  I did submit the picture of the out of state plate to the DMV and they refused to waive any fees.
So, at this point I gave all of my service fees back to her with an addn'l $184.00 refund of DMV fees and made it as least as possible for her.  We put a lot of time and effort into her item and situation.
Attached is-
1.  Mckee's invoice [redacted]
2.  A print out from the DMV's webb site showing that lien sales fees can not be waived.
3.  Refund receipt of the $186
4.  Lien document showing athe lien was way back in 2012
5.  The DMV fee read out breaking down all of their cost
6.  The January month permit we received for her
I was glad that she was able to get her smog and we were able to clear her item.  I have signs in my office that state that all DMV fees are only estimated.
If there was a way to lower her fees we would of helped her.  We fight for our clients.
Sincerely,

Mckee's Auto Registration is a blessing. I built a 1938 Ford Hot rod in my garage but never thought about the fact that I didn't have a title. Bridget took care of it and this week I received a California title in my name. I have a AAA account, but when I brought it to them, I just got the run around. I will be returning to these guys from now on. Oh, the ladies at McKees are easy on the eyes too ;)
