We are having flooding issues in our garage.
We had our local hardware store build our garage, which the concrete pad was given to *** from Mcl Contracting.
We have had water issues inside our garage every year, our hardware store contacted *** and the answer was for our hardware store to put this special paper under the siding and then we had to bring in dirt and build it up around 2" on the outside of the garage.
Well needless to say, we have been pumping water the last 3 days for 6 hours and more as it is getting nicer out, as the snow is melting and if we don't we will get flooded inside the garage.
We are very frustrated with the way the water is causing us so much time and work. In our opinion the pad should be a lot higher as that spot is very low.
We would like not to have to remove a lot of the snow in the lot were the garage is and not have to pump water in the spring.
Initial installation of concrete pad was slanted toward house causing water pooling issues. After two years contractor came out and replaced pad. New concrete pad installed by company had very rough finish. After waiting a year contractor finally did come out and looked at it, admitted quality was poor and said he would come back and fix it. After promising on several occasions to come out, he never did. Over the last 3-4 months, repeated attempts to contact by phone, contractor has not returned calls.Desired SettlementContractor to come back and fix the problem.Business Response I was not the general contractor on the job, I was hired by [redacted] to do concrete work. I was not in favor of doing the original pad as early as we did, as I was afraid of settling, which is what happened. I returned and removed the original pad and re-poured a new pad, the expense was split between [redacted] and myself. [redacted] I did return in the fall of 2015 (Sept/Oct), not sure on exact date. I did offer to come back, when I had time, and try to take some of the rough finish off the top. This is a gesture of good will, as any warranty issues are either expired or should be addressed by the builder, as I was never directly paid by the homeowner for any work. I am still willing to return, when I have time, to try some hand grinding to see if it improves the rough finish. I am not offering anymore or less than that though. I however will do this when I have a break in my schedule that allows me the time I need to travel to [redacted] and spend the necessary time needed to do this. Consumer Response I do not accept the business response because:The fact that MCL and [redacted] split the cost to re-do the pad has nothing to do with the poor finish on the current pad. Regarding time frame, he came on September 9, 2015 to look at the finish, admitted it is a poor finish and indicated he would be back later that day to work on it. He did not return indicated he would be back next day, did not come again. Regarding comment on warranty, MCL was advised the day after new pad was put in the finish was poor. [redacted] If he is willing to return that is good but I need a specific time of when he will correct problem. Otherwise what has happened in the past will continue.[redacted]
