This order was booked with Angela *** on 6/and scheduled for 6/Our representative explained that local moving cost is computed on a time and materials basisI am not sure why the ***' are under the impression that there would be a $maximum cost as that is not something we
can offerThe household industry contracts on an hourly basis because each home and quantity moved is unique. Our two man rate was quoted at $per hourThe previous owners of the home were still being moved out until 3:15, therefore the ***' move was delayedSince this job was stared late in the afternoon we added a third crew memberThe hourly rate was then $It does NOT affect the cost by how many men you apply to a move as each one contracts at the same hourly rateBy adding more man power this simply speeds up the move so it can finish at a more reasonable hourHad we completed this move with two men it would have taken more hours and the final labor cost would be the sameI reviewed the bill of lading to understand the additional services that were providedI see that the was some packing, shrink wrapping and floor protection that was applied for a total of $Due to various types of liability we take precautions to make sure the shipment and home is protected If the ***' were specifically concerned with cost it would have be beneficial to have have an on site survey and estimateWe do not require each customer have an estimate, however they are available if the customer chooses to confirm cost and services neededThe Movers, Incmoves over 1,families and/or businesses each year, most of which do not have an estimate. It is not in our interests to mislead customers, as the ***' have alleged, as this is a referral industry and complaints are never to anyone's benefitI understand that this simply cost more than what they expected, however the rates were honored

We do reject the answer by the Movers Inc and here is whyThe wall hanging that they are talking about amount to one mirror, which we already stated that we added to the estimated listThe glassware he is talking about was part of a hutch that was shown to the estimatorThe decision to pack it was entirely theresWe talked at length during the estimate period about the pool tableThe estimator stated that they move bar style pool tables all the time and did not ask any questions about the house that it was going intoThe grandfather clock was also shown to the estimator and in fact he told us that they would pack the movement before moving the clock, so it too was a part of the estimateThe refrigerator disassembly amounted to taking off the handlesMy wife reinstalled the handlesI don't know why they needed truckloads instead of one, but to us it was either a mistake by the estimator, or a part of their business model, to underestimate to get the business and then upcharge at the end of the move. I know that we have already said this, but we showed virtually everything to the estimator, and his estimate was just over half the amount we were charged. As far as paying the bill, we felt we had no choice, and didn't know what else we could do at the timeWe did mention to the guy that we thought it was way too high, but he tried to explain it away like they continue to do. *** *** *** ***

The Movers, Incprovided an estimate to Mr& Mrs*** on April 6th, 2015. They met with our sales representative and specified exactly what items were to be movedThe estimated quantity amounted to 8,lbswhich can fit into one truckload. Instead our crew members moved a
total of two and a half truckloads which required more moving time, travel time and mileage. The ***'s also requested additional packing services for items such as glass sheets, wall hangings, clock pendulum, etc., which has material costs and requires extra labor. The new home had smaller doorways and a turn in the stair case which required the refrigerator and bar style pool table to be disassembledNormally these items do not require dis-assembly, therefore the additional labor was not factored into the estimateOur driver explained the charges to the ***'s and provided them with a copy of the bill of ladingThey signed the bill and wrote a personal check on completion of the moveBy signing the bill and endorsing a personal check they approved and authorized the services and amount due. The Movers, Incdoes not require a deposit or any type of prepayment as the contract is on a time and materials and the exact billing is computed on completion of the move

The estimate is non-binding, as explained in the "IMPORTANT NOTICE" at the top of the page and was based on moving 8,lbs.(approximately truckload) to climate controlled storage. Instead the shipper requested that The Movers, Incmove truckloads to a residence and provide additional services. The estimate provided on 4/6/is vastly different than the service performed on 5/4/15. I will be willing to discuss any specifics with your attorney if needed

Just to review one more time the case that we have against The Movers Inc. We received an estimate from their representative of $1319. This estimate included everything that we showed them, including the grand father clock and bar style pool table. The estimate stated that they were to do it with 3 men and have 1 truck load of  stuff. We talked at length with the estimator about the clock and pool table. The day of the move, they arrived with 4 men that worked very hard throughout the day. After the move was complete, they ended up with 2.5 truckloads of stuff and charged us $2421. The only items we added were 1 mirror, a 26 inch tv and a couple of smaller items. So just how did the estimate get so far off? We know it wasn't because we added more stuff, so it had to be that the estimator was completely off base on what he thought it would take to move us. Had we received an estimate as high as the end charge, we would have looked elsewhere for a mover. We feel that the Movers Inc. need to reimburse us for most of the difference between the estimate and the end charges and after discussing it with our attorney, he feels the same way. This will be the last response from us using this format. If we do not receive an adequate response from the Movers Inc. the next correspondence will be from our attorney. Thank you very much[redacted]
