The following is a response to the complaint filed with you by *** ***I would like you to know that I am hesitant to have any further contact with him because of his repeated calls and texts that were threatening in natureI was actually afraid and to have this come up now makes me
actually afraid for my safety once againI have helped people in the past with very good outcomes, even when the clients had served long prison sentencesThis is the first person that’s become hostile, and now I am really reconsidering the charitable work that I doIt is very sad, but I just can’t live in fear of someone like thisI am really afraid of how he’s going to reactPlease call me before you have any other contact with him, including this report I’m giving youI may contact the police.*** *** came to Lasercare Tattoo Removal in September of to start laser treatments on tattoos running the length of both forearmsThe tattoos measured about inches of inkMy price schedule is $for inch of ink per treatment, $for inches of ink, $for inches of ink, and on up at $increments per inch of inkI set an exceptionally low price for Mr *** of $per treatment because of the charitable works that I do, and his story of hardship and desire to change his path in lifeI remove tattoos from troubled youth, parolees, and domestic violence victims at a much lower price than my business expenses allowI do charge a nominal fee because I have found that when the service is free, there is less commitment and more missed appointmentsI cannot afford to continue any charitable work when it costs me additional appointments because of the irresponsibility or lack of commitment of my clientThe cost of performing these charitable works comes directly out of my own pocket without any sponsorship or assistance from any other business or person.Mr*** signed a consent form that states that there is no contractNo contract was ever spoken of, presented, or signedWhen Mr*** filled out his medical history form, he stated that he uses nicotineI explained to him that nicotine use has a huge effect on the tattoo removal process and sometimes it would prevent the removalHe agreed to try to quit, but that part of tattoo removal is not in my controlMy clients must take ownership of their health which is their part in the tattoo removal processMr*** was well informed of the effects his nicotine use would have.On the consent form signed by all my clients, is the need to give at least hours notice to change or cancel appointments or charges would be incurredThis notice is also posted in my of?ceOn Mr***’s 5th and 6th appointments, he called the day of his appointment to rescheduleI was understanding, but a little frustrated the second timeHowever I did not charge him for rescheduling without giving hours noticeWanting to help Mr*** meet his goal of entering the military, I began doing his treatments free of charge after his 8th treatmentAlmost no professionally done tattoos will be gone at this point, and due to his nicotine use, his tattoo was not seeing the degree of fading that is normalWith nicotine use, I could not give any kind of realistic estimate or even sure if it would ever be removed, but I was committed to helping this young manAfter free treatments, Mr*** failed to show up or call about the next appointmentsThese were prime time slots that would have been filled with paying clients weeks in advance, and I felt at that time that Mr*** was not as invested in this as I wasI felt my time and the costly use of my laser would be better used on a more committed clientMr*** then made an appointment that he showed up forAlthough he thought it was unfair to have to pay for his missed appointments (even though he admitted that he always had access to a phone and knew about his appointments because of reminders sent to him), he paid for themI informed him that I would not be able to perform his treatments for free, but I would still charge him far less than my price list would requireHe immediately became very hostile and leftHe called and sent multiple texts demanding that I perform additional free treatments on himHe was very angry and it was to the point where I felt afraidI could empathize with his regret of getting these enormous tattoos on both his arms and it was now interfering with his job opportunities, but I could not give in to his threatsI had a policy that worked for my business, and I was certainly not going to make an exception because of someone’s threatening calls and text messagesI feel that I gave Mr*** a great opportunity to obtain his goals and he continued to make some poor decisions by continued nicotine use not giving hours notice to change appointment dates failing to show up for appointments and using anger and threats instead of taking responsibility for his actionsAfter this experience with Mr***, I will not be able to make any exceptions when it comes to short notice or missed appointmentsI feel that I was too generous and too willing to help in a way that was not appreciatedIf someone is not willing to change their course in life, my time and money is probably better used elsewhereI wish Mr*** the best and I hope, through hard work and perseverance, he is able to obtain his goals
