Review: We were appoached by McRoy-Wilbur Communities Inc. who asked if they could take down the fence behind our home in order to put up a new fence for the home they were constructing behind our house. We had assummed we would be given the same privacy our previous fence provided us and also that the fence would be the same on either side. Once the fence was built we saw that the slats in between the fence that was built were quite large allowing for minimal privacy. In addition, the smooth side of the fence was built facing the home behind us, while the side of the fence with the structural bracing was facing outwards towards our house. After trying repeatedly to have someone from McRoy-Wilber contact us, we finally got a response. The same individual who originally aproached us about building the fence met with us and informed us he would have additional slats added to our side of the fence for a fee. I do not feel we should have to to remedy this solution. We feel that McRoy-Wilbur should correct the situation by adding slats to our side of the fence.Desired Settlement: Add addition slats to our side of the fence to improve privacy and aesthetics.

In response to the complaint ID#[redacted]) submitted 1/10/2014 by Mr. [redacted] of Ripon, California, McRoy Wilbur Communities is responding to the bureau with the following information and efforts made to address his concerns:

* Mr. [redacted]'s home was purchased from the original builder, Braddock & Logan, approximately 8 years ago. The development was not completed and remained dormant several years. McRoy Wilbur Communities (MWC) purchased the incomplete lots from Braddock & Logan in 2013.

* MWC proceeded to build and complete 20 homes with cedar fences consisting of 8-inch wide side-by-side pickets at 6 ft. tall (finished height).

* In the process of improving the appearance of fences in proximity of one another, I approached Mr. [redacted] to replace his original fence at no charge. He accepted and did not express that his "free" fence resemble the original style. Value of replacement: $1000.00.

* After the fence was completely finished, Mr. [redacted] called me. It was a week to ten days later. He asked MWC to add a 2x6 skirting to the base of his new fence next to his concrete patio. We responded to his request and did so at no charge. Value of skirting: $300.00.

* Four to six weeks later, Mr. [redacted] expressed concern that there was space between the pickets and requested something be done so he could have complete privacy. I explained that wood fence pickets shrink and expand with seasonal weather conditions.

*MWC offered Mr. [redacted] the option of adding additional 1-inch slats to fill the gaps and split the cost between Mr. [redacted] and MWC. His portion would be $300.00.

* MWC did not get a response from Mr. [redacted] until the complaint letter from your Revdex.com. He has not contacted me since I quoted him the amount.
