McSpadden Automotive, Inc Reviews (4)

[redacted] I have reviewed your invoice from [redacted], I have done my research with the parts store that warranted out the computer for [redacted] and I have research any and all invoices at my location. I need to point out that on our invoices at the bottom it states that all warranties have to be done at one of the [redacted] locations. On your original complaint you had said that the abs light was on and our employee told you it must have been that way before. Then 12 hours later the alternator went out and so you took it to another shop. When you found out that the computer was defective why did you not bring it back so we can warranty it out for you? It clearly says on our invoices that all warranties are good at our location. You had told me you sent a e-mail to our shop e-mail so I went and retrieved it from history (Dated Nov 8th 2016) were I found these notes. It said you went back to our location several times but there was no one available for you to talk to. I have a Manager, Assistant manager and a shop foreman at that location so why did you not leave your vehicle for them to recheck it if it had all of these issues? I only have one visit from you recorded on a invoice.([redacted] the original invoice) Putting aside that you never left the car for us to recheck, did not contact us when you found out it had a defective computer and it clearly states all warranties must be done on location at the bottom of our invoices I have decided the fair thing to do would be to reimburse you for the computer install and flash of $111.63 as the part has already be warranted by the parts store. My conclusion is your alternator was never bad. If you will read [redacted] Invoice it said "they checked the alternator output and replace it but after replacing the alternator found it would intermittently send ground control (this signal comes from your computer) so they replaced the computer and charging system was then good." At that time they should have removed the new alternator and put yours back on. The alternator needs that ground input from your computer in order to make your alternator work. If you would have left the car for us to recheck than this would have been discovered and your alternator would never had been replaced. I have had several of these employees for many years and they will never deny you leaving your car for us to recheck our work! If you will provide me with a good address to send the check to I will get this taken care of. In the future if you need to contact me for any reason you can send an e-mail to [redacted].com. Thank you, [redacted]

[redacted],I understand your frustration and would like to help but I need some type of documentation backing up the repairs you said that some other shop has performed. I cannot go off of your word verses my employees word so I need something from you to back up your story so I can research the issue to make a decision on what is right and what is wrong. Can you please provide me with copies of the invoices from the other shop for my review?Thank you,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:There was nothing wrong with the brakes or the ABS system when the car was towed in. When I went to pick up the truck, ABS lights were on, brake lights were on and there was a constant beeping sound. I argued with the gentleman that something wasn't right and it should be checked again. He insisted that the work they performed had nothing to do with the brake lights and ABS malfunction (although I had just had new brakes put on the truck just three months earlier). He insisted the truck was sound and safe. I told him that I am undergoing cancer treatments and it was imperative that I could count on the truck running. The first time I drove the truck the next day, the alternator went out. I took it to a second shop, [redacted], for a second opinion. They quickly told me the computer was defective and I arranged for them to change it out. They also told me that they suspected that the defective computer caused a short which caused the brake and alternator problems. I didn't trust [redacted] anymore.I did go into the shop several times but was told each time that the owner wasn't in to come back another day. When I would come back the day they told me, I would again be told the owner wasn't in. I had someone with me each time so I can back that up.I feel like you just took advantage of me and that I ought to be compensated something for my trouble.
Regards,

Revdex.com:I asked the gentlemen several times to recheck the part when I went to pick up the truck, considering all the blink and lights that were on. I didn't feel like I could trust this person any more since he was just blowing me off. I left my contact information at least twice and no one called me. They never offered to look at the truck, they just kept saying that I needed to talk to the "owner" and he wasn't in. As I said, they never gave me the personal email only the wellsbranch one.I can't prove the alternator was damaged by the faulty part, but I will accept the $111 for reflashing the PCM.My address is [redacted], TX [redacted]
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards,
[redacted]
