Review: Called McVehil because my furnace died. Jeff the field guy who works for McVehil condemned my 12 yr old furnace in 5 mins just by a flashlight and observation saying "the ventor blower is dead and my furnace has a hole in the heat exchanger. No testing or visual inspection on the furnace heat exchanger was done as the power was off to the furnace. I said I wanted to blower & exchanger replaced. He says by the time you do that its cheaper to buy a new furnace. I wanted to stay in my budget @ 1,500.00. He then quotes us a new furnace at $4,150. I checked out the parts on line and the most for a blower was $150.00 and exchanger @ $450.00. This with labor at its worse would equal $1,200 to $1,500 which equaled my budget. This was much cheaper and he lied as it was cheaper to replace two parts instead of a new furnace. We were three days without heat except a small infared heater & stove. I woke up after being restless and aggravated at 5:30 am and unfroze the blower and had the furnace running in 20 mins.. I also found out the Heat Exchanger DIDNT have a whole or crack in it! So he lied about this too! I fixed it all in 20 mins as a novice and it COST me nothing!

I had to get a loan for $4,150 and it was 28% interest for 4 years to the total cost of $8,800 plus! Lucky us the loan place had no penalty as I had 7 days to undo the loan and I did because my furnace was fixed!Desired Settlement: I dont know. Just have the field guy quit lying to peoples faces (and I think its fraud) and stop selling furnaces if its NOT needed esp. when the furnace was really still good & people ask you to stay in their budget and dont stick them with what they cant afford. Just because its cold out and they have customers by their rear ends!

Review: I contacted McVehil to replace (3) fire sprinkler heads. One was corroded, but not leaking. I wanted them all replaced before I installed a new ceiling.McVehil sent a plumber that was not certified to work on a Home Fire Sprinkler system. I was overcharged for a job that was not complete. The plumber left my fire sprinkler system leaking and the entire Home Sprinkler system "shut down". I had to pay McVehil for the incomplete job, but they said that they will fix it in a week for an additional $578.64??? I called another plumber who is certified to work on a Home Fire Sprinkler System. He had to replace the (3) heads that McVehil put on because they were now stripped along with an adapter. This new plumber, completed the entire job for $225 and activated my Home Fire Sprinkler system in a shorter amount of time.Desired Settlement: I would like refunded the $388.74 for the incomplete job, because my new plumber had to replace the heads again because they were stripped. I contacted McVehil several times but no one returned my call. They said that my file was with the owner and he was going to call me. He never did. I also have a (3) year furnace contract with McVehil that I want canceled, and the remaining (2) years reimbursed.
