We noticed a leak coming through 1st floor into basement ceilingThe new plumber said that the pipe was not threaded correctly and it had been leaking since we had radiators brought back into house by MK Plumbing after rennovationAfter repair in February Invoice from February Also, note that MK Plumbing's invoice states that valves were put in 2nd floor radiatorsBathroom radiator was later discovered to be missing parts as indicated in photoWe hired a man to put them inOur new toilet was broken beyond repair by KarandyWe personally bought a new toilet. There are other things that contributed to thisBut, you should have a better ideaEventually, we were forced to break off all communications with Karandy since problems kept cropping up and there was a failure in confidenceThanks for reviewing thisContact me at any timeBest, *** *** Here is the remainder of our list- Pipes in basement installed too low after we described what we wanted. -Broke $200+ thermostat. -Reversed hot and cold water in upstairs bathHe did repair. -Kitchen sink leaked below counter. -Cracked vanity upstairs bath. -Placed radiators in wrong locationOne radiator prevented counter door
and drawer from openingEven reversed radiator by drilling extra hole
in floor that did no good
-Hardware on upstairs shower upside downHis son repaired. Thanks again. *** ***

The heating system was in perfect working order, and in operation during construction. The thermostat that I originally provided was placed in an acceptable location. Mr. [redacted] later provided us with a Wi-Fi thermostat and wanted the location to be in a different area of the house. We explained to Mr. [redacted] we were not familiar with this thermostat he provided (with inadequate instructions of operation/installation). We moved the thermostat wire as he wanted and re-wired it to the heating system. The wire should have never been relocated; it was in a prime location at first installation. The new wire ended up getting severed in the wall, I believe when an electrical switch box was installed (by another contractor) adjacent to the new wire, causing a short and burning out a control on the boiler, causing it not to fire.I promptly went to the [redacted], found the problem re-placed the wire, provided a quality thermostat and also a new transformer on the boiler and got the system up & running. This was all done at my expense for a problem I did not cause to begin with. The steam system piping in the basement was installed with 2 inch Iron piping and connections with 1 1/2, & 1 1/4 inch iron piping. During the installation Mr. [redacted] had stopped at the job site everyday 2x a day for the week we were installing the system, and never had a complaint about any of our work. The existing piping that was on the system located in the other side of the basement, was at about the same height as the new piping that we installed. Two months after the installation. He decided that he wanted the piping raised, which was a major job to complete being it was all done in Iron pipe, as per steam piping should be. The piping was supported securely at a good working height considering the basement already had a short ceiling height. The piping change he wanted would have gained maybe 3 inches in height. An estimated cost to make that change would have been about $1800.00 cost out of my pocket. I did finally agree to do this for him and he was going to build a web site for me as compensation plus he still owed me about 3500.00 for the work I had already completed on the entire job (plumbing & heating) I tried to contact him several times by phone calls and text messages to complete this and he never returned a call or texted back to me and would not make contact with me. In the beginning of the heat job I sized and tagged all the radiators in the house and figured out all the proper locations for them (which rooms they belong in). The radiators were removed off the job site by Mr. [redacted], to be painted and they were returned with no tags or sizing as I had provided prior to the removal. When the time came that I had to install the radiators I asked Mr. [redacted] since he had removed them from the job site if he recorded which radiator went where and he replied he did not. I had to recollect which radiator went where, which I did and reconnected them to the system. There was a problem with a radiator installed in the kitchen, but that was a result of a cabinet being installed that was to be eliminated from the original plan. l do think I could have remedied this by switching a radiator, but never got the chance to do so, because Mr. [redacted] would not return my calls. Addressing the plumbing issues: (this was during the time the job was in progress)
Mr. [redacted] called me several times to trim the job (install fixtures). He was not ready for this part of the job to be completed.! sent my employees there upon his request, which caused a problem because on 3 trips my guys could not complete the job, which would normally have taken 1 day to complete when it was ready. He called prematurely. This cost me time and breaks in my schedule to try to accommodate him. I had other customers and jobs that needed attention also. This was very frustrating.  Mr. [redacted] also purchased plumbing fixtures that were used (seconds) or discontinued. A sink he provided was cracked. He accused me of cracking his vanity on the 2nd floor, which I did not break. Had I broken the vanity I would have approached him and been honest and would have been glad to compensate him as a result, but that was not a result of anything I did. It's a down right lie. I did accidentally break a toilet and this was something I told him I would compensate him for without a problem. It was an odd fixture that he purchased. The standard ruff in we provided to accommodate the industry standard would not  accommodate his discontinued model that he provided and that is what caused the break upon my installation. However, I was still willing to absorb the cost of a new toilet or deduct it from my bill. Upon discussion he agreed. The other plumbing issues were not a problem they were repaired I simply switched the hot and cold water lines on the second floor lav. And I adjusted the shower lever so that it was in the proper position. I was unaware and not notified of any leaks under the kitchen sink. It was tested upon installation and no leaks were ever found. Mr. [redacted] was not experienced enough or knowledgeable enough to be his own G.C. on this project. Which caused problems with scheduling and the completion of  the work This cost time and money for those involved. The job site was a total mess just about every time went there. it was making it difficult to work efficiently. There were times we had to relocate the clutter to be able to perform our work. He was not productive in doing his part of keeping the work areas clear of clutter, clean or safe so work could be completed. This caused several trips back and forth and labor causing frustration amongst all involved. At this point I was looking to complete the job and move on. The problems Mr. [redacted] mentioned in is complaint could have been easily resolved if he had made contact with me. He chose not to contact me and allow me to make good on the job, instead he chose to contact the Revdex.com. I did leave a balance of$ 3500.00, which Mr. [redacted] had still not yet paid. I was unaware of any leaks in the steam system or missing valves on the second floor radiators that were there before. This system ran for 1 month during the coldest part of the winter. I had no knowledge of any missing parts or leaks I had beenthere several times during the period of time that the system was on and running. Never detecting any leaks. I would have been more than willing to try and satisfy his complaints. I eventually walked from the situation being that his in laws have been good customers of mine, and friends for 20 plus years and did not want to cause a riff in that relationship. The work we did do was done to NYS code with proper permits and all inspections. It was done neatly and promptly and tried to provide him a high quality job that I do for all my customers of 38 years of owning my own business. The trips I made back to rectify the heating problem and minor plumbing problem were completed during the period of time that Mrs. [redacted] contacted the Revdex.com without my knowledge. I would hope that you would consider this an attempt on my behalf and the good intentions I had to satisfy him. Only, then to be contacted by the Revdex.com alerting me to his complaint. This is my honest and true assessment to my recollection of how these circumstances occurred and this could have been rectified without this process. Sincerely Mark Karandy

Mark was great! Showed up when he said he would, got the job done and didn't leave a mess. I have had a lot of contractors in my home over the past decade, finally found the plumber for me!

I own a autobodyshop at 816 broadway in Schenectady ny. my water main had to be replaced all the way from the rd to the building to meet codes.it was a very tough job to do because there was a lot of debris under the rd( like 2 sets of trolly tracks).mark came in with a very reasonable price and got the job done sooner than I had intcipated.he was very personable and professional and just a great guy to talk to! I recommend mark to anyone who needs water run to a building no matter how big or small the job is,marks your guy! [redacted]

[redacted] called to respond: There was no reason for consumer to contact Revdex.com. We have gone over there and switched the 2 radiators that he wanted switched. We repaired and ran a new thermostat wire and got the heating system up and running. We repaired hot & cold line on vanity sink. We purchased a...

new toilet for the one accidentally dropped and installed it. We adjusted the drain trip lever so it doesn't leak by. Steamlines will be re-piped, as agreed, when time allows. We did not damage a vanity and this was already discussed with the consumer.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards, [redacted]Our Response:
Upon Mr. [redacted]'s last visit radiators were switched incorrectly. He failed to measure the space once again preventing the cabinet drawer from fully opening in the kitchen. The desired and original kitchen radiator ended up being installed in the bathroom rather than back in the kitchen. Since the beginning, he was asked to place three different radiators in specific locations. The locations were the kitchen, breakfast nook and downstairs bathroom. (Radiators are still in wrong rooms.)There is now a hole in the floor moulding created when he replaced the wiring that he himself damaged during original installation. He did state that he would repair this in the future.
Even though we talked about the placement height of pipes in basement prior to his installation of job as well as during the beginning of this project we still ended up with pipes so low that many of our workers, including ourselves, have hit heads on them constantly. While Mr. [redacted] gives indication that he plans on taking care of an avoidable situation no date has been given after several months of trying to work this out.
As far as the vanity goes one of our workers witnessed [redacted] damaging it during installation. Regarding the broken toilet we paid several hundred dollars for a replacement in addition to the one he broke.
Due to the amount of time it has taken to get things done correctly we feel it is in our best interest to hire someone else to properly fix these issues and charge the amount back to Mr. [redacted].
