The electric contacts in their pistol grip handle sparked and flames came out - melted the plastic housing around the contacts.
I bought MD Manufacturing's Stealth central vacuum accessory kit in 2007. The kit included the electric power head and central vacuum hose with electric cord pigtail. The unit worked great until earlier this week when electric sparks came out of the pistol grip handle where it attached to the electric contacts in the power head wand. The unit started to flame until I shut the power switch off. The black plastic housing around the electric contacts in the pistol grip melted and left a melted plastic residue on the upright wand's electric contacts. The unit is now unusable and would be unsafe in any event. I eMailed MD Manufacturing to let them know of this safety hazard and asked for the name of a person I should contact. This was 2 days ago and, given the serious nature of this problem, I think it is terrible that I have yet to hear back from them - even an acknowledgement of my eMail would have been nice.
