Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. They are saying they get the same complaints every year Well they might have gotten some but never to this extreme We didn't even have any Christmas stuff on, no holiday partiesin this house, and this winter was MUCH milder than any winter in the past According to the bills I have, there was more than $difference in the bills from January to January Granted, it was like $more but the other bills have been more That $credit does not explain the difference in bills With the amount of people complaining (and some people say doubled and tripled which ours did in the summer), there has to be something wrong somewhere.Regards, [redacted]

Response: March 17, Dear Ms*** ***, In reference to Complaint ***, thank you for taking the time to communicate to us why our customer service did not meet your expectationsMeade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (Meade County RECC) strives to provide affordable,
reliable electric service to each of its member-owners, and we would like to further address each of your concernsWe are aware that there have been numerous complaints expressed especially on social media regarding electric billsEvery year regardless of how mild or harsh temperatures become, high bill complaints result over increased energy usageReviewing your account, it appears that your usage patterns maintain close trend to your usage in previous yearsThere have been several times where your bill has exceeded $In January of 2016, your bill was $and this January your bill was $You may have seen an increase in billed dollars despite a decrease in kilowatt usageThis is not due to a rate increase but rather the depletion of a credit fund that has been provided since Meade County RECC has been fortunate to provide nearly $million in credits to its members for the past seven years as a result of funding provided by our power supplier, *** *** *** ***The funds were designed to offset the rate increase that resulted from the termination of the purchase agreement between *** *** *** *** *** These funds were not designed to be provided on a permanent basis and unfortunately the credit has expired*** *** does foresee opportunity that may eventually allow the fund to be replenishedFor decades, the most common high bill belief is that the electric meter incorrectly measured the quantity of power consumed by the homeownerHowever, it’s a rare event when a meter malfunctionsEach year, a sample of meters is selected for testing to identify malfunction, to ensure accurate measurement, and to satisfy criteria established by the Kentucky Public Service Commission (KPSC)Our testing is conducted by a contracted third party meter testing facility based in Owensboro, KentuckyAdditionally, we are aware of a few claims stating electric bills have doubled and tripledActually, the average Meade County RECC residential bill in February dropped by percentWe realize there are always exceptions, however late fees, disconnect fees, reconnect fees and delinquent charges are costs outside of an individual’s energy consumptionThese charges are the result of a poor payment history not energy rates or faulty metersThis past winter, Meade County RECC experienced on average a percent increase in our residential members’ energy usage from November to DecemberIt’s understandable if you thought this increase seemed drastic, but in reality it was the transition from a mild fall to a colder than average DecemberLike anything in life, it takes money to manufacture and distribute a product, and electricity is no differentAn electric utility is a business that requires the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in order to construct power plants, build electric distribution infrastructure, remain in compliance with environmental regulations and purchase the coal, gas or hydro to create the powerNearly percent of each member’s electric bill is contributed to the production of power and the fuel source to generate electricityWe encourage you to check out our online (www.mcrecc.com) and mobile app resources that provide personal energy data, historical weather analysis, and tools to view your usage on a daily, weekly, and monthly basisMeade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (Meade County RECC) is a not-for-profit, locally owned electric retail provider that is owned by the members it servesWe strive to keep the cost of electricity affordable and the reliability of service high for the members we serve in Breckinridge, Hancock, Hardin, Grayson, Meade, and Ohio countiesSincerely, Meade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. They are saying they get the same complaints every year.  Well they might have gotten some but never to this extreme.  We didn't even have any Christmas stuff on, no holiday partiesin this house, and this winter was MUCH milder than any winter in the past.  According to the bills I have, there was more than $1 difference in the bills from January 2016 to January 2017.  Granted, it was like $8.00 more but the other bills have been more.  That $20 credit does not explain the difference in bills.  With the amount of people complaining (and some people say doubled and tripled which ours did in the summer), there has to be something wrong somewhere.Regards,[redacted]
