To Whom this may concern, Myself and about 20 other members (and counting) of this mobile home community are skeptical about the water bill we receive each month, we have gone in to the office to file a complaint only to be told we have a leak. Meters have been checked and no leak seems to be present. I asked how much they where charging for the water, and was told that they used this formula to calculate the water usage (Gallons used 14.42*0.01=) and when I pointed out that it was too much, I was told that they can charge what ever price they wanted. I also requested that the bill needed to include the rate being charged for the water, but was denied. I think that any bill should detail how your being charged and what exactly your paying for. MY usage for last month was 818g for a family of 4 people according to the formula (*** fee that they charge) making my total 121.95. Other community members who are living alone or with a companion and have living arrangements much smaller than my own are paying $60 for water in this same community. I compare with other people who don't live in this community and have found a huge difference in billing. For example a family member who lives in a home was able to fill up a six foot pool and along with his monthly usage, he was only charged $130. Another person who also doesn't live in the community has the same amount of people in the home as myself and only pays $30. In other places that I have lived the most I have ever payed for water was $60. PS we are Dekalb county. Also the Mobile home community made a new resident pay the outstanding balance of a previous owner. The balance was of 90, how can they do that?
Billing Adjustment I would like to know if it is true that they can charge whatever they want for water? Are they legally allowed to charge someone for a previous tenants water consumption. Also can they get away with not providing the rate they charge for water on the bill. (14.42*.01= .14 a gallon for tap water when purified water is .30 a gallon at the kiosk). Foremost I want to know what the fare price for the water we are using. As stated before we live in dekalb county we are located between city lines.
In response to the complaint by Miss., we would like to state that we charge all residents for water usage using a method provided to us by the county. We read each resident water meter individually and bill based upon on the usage.
We bill at a rate of $14.42 for every 1000 gallons of water used, plus the $4.00 admin fee.
If the homeowner has a particularly high water bill, they should check to ensure there are no leaks coming from their house and also check to make sure they do not have a leaking sink/faucet and/or toilet. This is the responsibility of the homeowner. If the water meter is broken, we will pay to repair or replace the meter. Let it be known that Miss. does not have a pressure reducing valve on her home currently, which could be a contributing factor to her high water bill.
We have never charged a new resident to pay the water bill of the previous tenant. That claim by Miss*** is untrue.

If the rate is 14.42 per 1000 gallons why did my bill come at 121 dollars in December? My meter read 72633 in November and 73451 in December. I was told to subtract this amount from each other To get my usage (***) not even 1000 gallons how is it that my bill is 121 ? Also about the other information I can try to get the person to fill her own complaint and I can only speak for myself when I say I have my rent invoice . If I need to send this in I will. I can email my rent invoices or fax them.
