Mechanical HVAC Services, Inc Reviews (8)

I have been using Mechanical HVAC for 8 years now, since moving to Raleigh. The owner has provided his personal service many times to keep my 30 year old unit together for as long as he could. Recently, the inevidable happened and the unit was not able to be fixed. Within 2 days, I had a firm quote and a scheduled install which went very smoothly. The owner, a senior tech and a helper did a great job and were all very professional. They were able to offer great financing, too. That allowed me to finance half and pay half. I am so thankful to have a great service provider. Mechanical HVAC gave me 8 more years use of my old unit allowing me the time need to save for a new one. I would not hesitate to give them an excellent recommendation.

I never write reviews online but I had a terrible experience and I genuinely want to warn others from using their services in the future. They are the most dishonest group of people you will ever deal with. We had a leak in our upstairs AC unit and we called a third-party company to come out. He noticed the unit was low in fluid and refilled it for us. He said he didn't suggest performing a search for the leak and we left it like that. The AC unit went down two days later, so at this point we realized we had a serious problem. We turned the unit off and called [redacted] to file a claim, which then assigned Mechanical HVAC Services to come out and inspect the unit. The tech came out and told us to turn the unit on so he could inspect it. He stated there was a leak in the coil and repairs would need to be made. He then told us that the unit was in fact cooling and that we can leave it running. This is where the issue occurred. We bought a window unit for our bedroom and had the unit turned off for several days prior to the tech coming out. We were planning to keep the unit off until it was fixed through the home warranty (hence spending a couple hundred dollars on a window unit). But, after trusting the professional recommendation of the tech, we turned the unit back on and allowed it run.

Fast forward a few days later and we woke up to running water coming down from the attic and all the way to the first floor. It soaked the carpet upstairs and caused water damage on both the first and second floor ceilings. This was directly a result of being told to turn the AC unit back on by the Mechanical HVAC Services tech. We understand the unit needed repairs but we were advised by the tech we could keep it running, otherwise we would have shut it off the second that he was done inspecting it.

I emailed the company explaining what happened and brought up the fact that we hoping for some sort of fair compensation for the damages to the home off their tech's recommendation. The tech then lied and said he did not advise us to turn the unit back on. I called and spoke with the owner and he said it was "hearsay" that the tech told us to turn the unit back on and that we were "not his customer" b/c they were contracted through [redacted] to help us. It is good to know that the owners think this way about a customer that just wanted his company to provide honest service to our home. We are not scam artists and I can tell you for a fact the tech told us we could leave the unit running, and thus we possibly have thousands of dollars in water damage because of it.

My wife and I bought the home a year ago and we are not proficient with AC units. This is why we bought the window unit for our bedroom and turned the unit in the attic off when it stopped working. This is also why we trusted the professional opinion of the Mechanical HVAC Services tech and turned it back on when he instructed us to do so. What makes us so angry is not that we had water damage (stuff happens) but that the tech lied about it and the owners knew the employee was being dishonest but did not care. If you ever plan on using this company please be warned of our experience and be wary of their complete and utter dishonesty in dealing with their customers.

Had my hvac unit serviced 9 days ago haven't used it since. I cut it on for the 1st time since and it won't work. The problem comes into play where no one will answer the emergency service line and some times sending me to voicemail instead of answering my service call. Night is falling and the weather will be in the freezing and I have no heat. They DO NOT proved "24/7 services". I WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. Very unprofessional employees.
