My husband was denied and refused emergency medical treatment and medical services on June 20, 21017 at Med7 Urgent Care center, location, ***, simply because I did not allow the Med7 facility to photocopy my drive's license. I am the responsible Medical Insurance holder. I told them you can not photocopy my driver's license, but you can verify my driver's license, look at my driver's license and verify my medical insurance card and you can make a photocopy of my medical insurance card. I did not feel my personnel information would be secure and safe or comfortable having my driver's license copied. ***, Clinic Manager said if I can't photocopy your Driver's License I am refusing you emergency medical treatment and medical services for your husband. I was stunned and shocked, she refused my husband emergency treatment or medical services. My husband was in pain and need emergency treatment and medical services. *** stated this was their policy, if she can not photocopy my driver's license then she is denying and refusing my husband any emergency medical services or treatment. I ask *** for her supervisors name and telephone number.
I called and spoke with the Chief Operating Officer, ***. *** stated to me that, yes this is all the Med 7 Urgent Care Centers policy. They need to make a photocopy of your driver's license to received emergency medical treatment or service at their centers. If you do not let them photocopy your personal information, i.e., Driver's license they will refuse and deny you any medical services or emergency treatment. I ask ***, if she could provide me a copy of this company policy regarding refusing medical services or emergency treatment to anyone, if they can't copy your driver's license.
She stated that she does not have to provide me a copy of this company's policy. I ask why was she refusing to provide me a copy of this policy and she stated that her Attorney told her she does not have to provide me a copy of this policy. She was very rude, got agitated very quickly and was very unprofessional when I ask for the copies of their policy regarding photocopying of driver's license.
I want to know how Med 7 Urgent Care Centers can refuse or deny medical services and emergency treatment to anyone who doesn't allow them to photocopy their personal information, i.e., driver's license without providing written public policies on the protocols of secure private and personal information. What regulatory laws authorize Med7 Urgent Care Centers to refuse medical services and emergency treatment to anyone who doesn't allow them to photocopy personal information. Also why was I denied a copy of Med 7 Urgent Care Center policy I requested.

Due to a very high amount of credit card and insurance fraud, we have been advised to scan driver's licenses and insurance cards into our system. We have had people come in and claim to be other people and try to use their insurance. With a picture ID on file, we are able to discover that the person seeking treatment is not the person's whose ID we have on file. All of this was explained by *** and myself to Mrs.. Her husband was not in an emergency medical situation but was seeking treatment. I explained to her several times that we did not refuse treatment. She chose for her husband not to be seen because she did not want to follow the protocols we have in place. We are a private business and if patients want to seek treatment with us they must follow the protocols we have in place to run our business properly. I have since contacted other medical facilities all of which have told me they require that an ID be scanned into their systems.
