Med Advocates has worked with Ms*** for four years to manage her enrollment in assistance programs to receive free medicationWhile the medication is provided without charge, Med Advocates charges a fee for our serviceThe fee is monthly and continues until the client, or Med Advocates,
terminates the client's enrollment in writing. In order to manage the programs for a client, it is imperative that the client provide requested information to us in a timely mannerOn February 9, we wrote to Ms*** and told her we needed to update her income proof, which we had done annually since her initial enrollmentWhen we did not receive the requested information, we continued to attempt to get it from herWe received her updated income on May 26, 2017.Over the past four years, insulin was dispensed to Ms*** through her doctor's office due to the efforts of Med AdvocatesThe drug company that provides free insulin to her has a policy that it will only ship the insulin to the prescribing doctor to be dispensed to the patientThat has not changedThe insulin she continues to receive is available to be dispensed to her at her doctor's office because of our efforts on her behalf. The drug company that provided Crestor to Ms*** removed Crestor from its assistance program in late Therefore we were no longer able to get it for her freeWe wrote Ms*** and explained that to herWe also suggested she may want to discuss a different cholesterol medication with her doctor and provided her with a list of similar medications that would be available to her at no additional costShe did not reply. Ms*** has complained to us in the past that we were not getting her insulin and that her doctor was giving it to herWe have explained to her several times about the process and that the insulin the doctor gives her IS the insulin we ordered for her.Ms*** received the medications through the assistance programs she hired us to manage for herThe fact that they were dispensed through her doctor's office and not delivered to her doorstep was not within our control and, frankly, does not negate the fact that they were made available to her through the efforts of Med Advocates and that she received themThis client is not due a refund.Med Advocates has done everything necessary to make these medications available to this clientNonetheless, Ms*** terminated our services in November of She should not be surprised in the future when her doctor does not receive additional insulin to give to herThe approximate retail cost of Ms***'s insulin exceeds $1,per month. *** ***Senior Advocate/Office Manage
