I have been sent two letters stating I owe more than $8000 for a medical device used in a surgery more than three years ago. They claim they submitted the charges to my insurance, and it was denied. My insurance has no recollection of this, and has been unable to get in touch with this company. I do not recall having this procedure as part of my surgery, so it seems to be a scam, however, they have my information, including the date of my cervical spinal surgery. I was able to contact someone today at the number on one of their forms (XXX-XXX-XXXX), and he gave me no information. It seemed as though it was a personal phone line, as oppose to that of a company. I have attempted to contact the trustee listed on the paperwork, and was only able to leave a message requesting a call back.
I am writing because this seems like fraudulent activity that needs to be investigated appropriately.
