MEDCAH, Inc. Reviews (22)

A review of the situation described in this complaint has been done We are continually training our agents on best practices for matter such as this The difficulty (not excuse) we in the credit and collection industry face regularly is that we are governed by conflicting laws and
regulations We must protect the privacy of the consumer when attempting to collect an assigned account In order to do this we seek to confirm that we are speaking with the correct party before proceeding with the personal business matter Consumers, on the other hand, are reluctant to provide information to verify their identity to a party who has not revealed the purpose of the call It is a real catch-situation Many consumers are more comfortable when they initiate the call, which is why we will give the receiving party the opportunity to call us back I would encourage the consumer to call our office at their convenience so that we may assist in resolving this manner with aloha,Genevieve F*

Thank you for advising MEDCAH of the disputed debt. It appears that the original creditor had a bad address for this account which would explain why the consumer did not receive the ambulance bill. We have advised the ambulance provider that this account is being closed as uncollectible
as it is past the filing deadline for insurance. This account (#***) has been closed and is not longer active. The credit bureau has been advised and we have requested that it be deleted from the consumer's file. This matter is now closed. Respectfully,Genevieve F*President, MEDCAH, Inc

We have researched this matter and have removed all occurrences of Mr***'s phone number from our files. As Mr*** has correctly stated, he is not the consumer we are attempting to contact. I believe that this resolves the issue of his receiving wrong party messages from MEDCAH.The matter regarding messages from *** *** is not a MEDCAH matter. The calls received from that phone number were not placed by MEDCAH. When I called that number I was connected to *** *** ***'s customer care line.I trust that this matter has been successfully resolved and I apologize for the inconvenience to Mr***.I can be reached directly if needed. My direct line is *** ***.with aloha,Genevieve F*

Upon review of this matter it has been determined that the consumer we were attempting to contact is not the current owner of the phone number we have on record. Our records have been updated. Mr*** should not receive further calls from us as our records have been updated. I
trust that this matter is considered closed. I would welcome a call from Mr*** if needed. with aloha,Genevieve F* (direct)

The consumer's account was placed for collection with MEDCAH in March 2011. An initial notice was sent to the consumer in April to the consumer's address. No mail was returned as undeliverable.Multiple attempts to reach the consumer were unsuccessful. No messages were
returned. An itemized statement was sent to the consumer in December showing the outstanding charges owed to the original creditor. In September the consumer offered to pay the account in full in exchange for a credit deletion. This offer was accepted. No payment was ever made and this account remains unpaid. This account has been canceled and returned to the original creditor as all collection efforts exhausted. MEDCAH is no longer handling this account and as such, a credit deletion has been submitted to Experian. MEDCAH does not report data to the other bureaus as stated by the consumer. If the consumer wishes to pay this account, payment should be made directly to the original creditor.Respectfully,Genevieve Freeman

I am rejecting this response because: It is not acceptable to ask someone who is calling and potentially phishing for information to call you backEvery months I get a call from Jamaica, Nigeria asking for the same thingThe ONLY difference between their calls and yours was you didn't have a heavy accent, which is incidental because you could very well hire someone with a Jamaican, Nigerian, Indian or where ever accent. I had to search far and wide to find out who was calling meI could do the same thing and call people randomly and try to phish for as much information as I canIf I did it, it would be illegal so why is it legal when your business does it?
Sincerely,

A review of the account in question has been completed.   The original creditor (medical provider) has confirmed that multiple notices/statements were sent to the consumer from the date of the initial bill (March 23, 2016) to the final collection letter (July 13, 2016).  A total...

of 5 notices/statements were mailed.  There was no mail returned.  Two courtesy calls were placed to the consumer (May 19, 2016 and June 13, 2016).  On June 22, 2016 the consumer contacted the medical provider and attempted to may a payment with an Amex credit card.  The medical provider does not accept Amex and no other credit card was available.A collection notice was sent on Sept 28, 2016.  Two attempted phone calls were placed by the collection agency early December 2016.The consumer made a payment in full on December 2, 2016.  The balance is now paid.  A credit deletion notification has been sent to Experian, the credit bureau.Unless there is further information, this matter is being considered closed.Thank you.Genevieve F[redacted]

The account referenced in this complaint was assigned to MEDCAH for collection in April 2013.  After receiving an initial notice from us, the consumer ([redacted])called to tell us she would be mailing a partial payment.  We received a $15 payment on April 22, 2013.  The balance...

remains outstanding in spite of several attempts to contact and subsequent conversations with the consumer. For the consumer's information and convenience the original itemized statement from the provider is attached. If the consumer wishes to settle this account she may send in her payments to our business office or call to make arrangements with an account representative. Thank you for the opportunity to respond on this matter. The consumer paid his [redacted] account on December 1, 2014 in the amount of $159.00.  The full amount due was $159.45.   After posting the payment, we entered a transaction to write-off the 45 cents that was remaining due.  The...

write-off transaction then triggered a credit report update of "settlement in full" instead of "payment in full."    Clearly this was unintentional.  We have, therefore, processed a deletion request with Experian so that  the transaction will be deleted from Mr. [redacted]'s credit report.I trust this will resolve this matter.Mahalo.

Prior to receiving this complaint from the Revdex.com the consumer provided our office with this same information.  We were able to confirm the insurance payment that was made to the provider ([redacted]) but never reported to MEDCAH. Upon confirmation of the payment information, the account was...

properly credited.  There is no balance owed by the consumer.  The account was closed and a credit deletion request was sent to [redacted].The consumer was sent a Paid in Full - Credit Deletion letter on June 8th for their files.I trust that this matter is closed.

The last phone call I received from [redacted] was on Thursday 9/22/16 at 6:04 pm. I'm hopeful that they truly have taken me off of their automated calling list. However, I must say that the voice messages I was receiving were from Medcah, not [redacted] Cable. As can be seen from the attached bilsl from [redacted], I am not in arrears with them at all.No, these calls were from Medcah. I believe that they are spoofing the [redacted] number as a normal course of business, hoping that they will get people to answer their phones because they think they're getting a call from [redacted]. Can I prove that? No. Is it possible to do? Yes. In fact, it's possible to send voice mail without having the recipient's phone ring, which I believe was happening earlier. I was told by a former wireless phone employee.Thank you for your efforts in getting this resolved. It was obvious after calling and emailing Medcah that I was never going to get this result on my own.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

A review of this account notes from a recent telephone conversation between the consumer and our account representative confirms that the consumer wants to pay this account and wants to have it deleted from his credit report.  The consumer has also refused to give our representative his...

current mailing address. The consumer may send his payment made payable to MEDCAH to our business office address:  [redacted].  After payment is received we will report the payment to the credit bureau and it will be removed from the consumer's credit report.  If there are questions, we can be reached M-F  8am -5pm HST  [redacted]. Thank you.

The account referred to in this complaint was placed for collection by our client ([redacted]) in June 2011.  At that [redacted] an initial notice was sent to the consumer.  There was no response from the consumer until almost 4 years later.   On March 21, 2015 we received a...

fax from the consumer requesting validation of debt.  We obtained validation of the debt (itemized statement of charges outstanding and the work order) and mailed it to the consumer as is required and is our policy and procedure.Since then, we have received multiple faxes and demands for additional information (contracts and such), of which we are not required to provide.  Proper debt validation has been provided to the consumer and fullfills the requirement of the FDCPA.  MEDCAH is not required to meet the demands the consumer had made. The hassle factor in continuing to attempt collection of this outstanding debt is unwarranted.  This account has been closed and returned to the original creditor.  Should the consumer wish to pay this valid debt, payment should be made directly to [redacted].We consider this matter closed.Respectfully,

I'm rejecting this response because:I'm still receiving unwanted phone calls from this company. The following is a record of calls I've received this week.9/16 17:40 [redacted]9/15 17:49 [redacted]9/14 17:40 [redacted]9/14 10:51 [redacted]9/13 17:49 [redacted]9/12 17:47 [redacted]As can be seen, these automated messages have continued on the same schedule that they have been occurring (for the past six weeks). I've called the company, I've sent them messages on their secure website, and now I've contacted the Revdex.com. While the company seems to agree that I'm not a target of their collection efforts, they seem to be incapable of stopping their automated calls to my phone. Until the calls stop, I'm not prepared to declare this complaint resolved.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
