Adding on Expenses - Covid Testing
Called two separate office of MedExpress over the last two days to find out about covid testing. Asked about procedure, cost, etc. They never mentioned that they would require an exam until I had waited in their parking lot for 2 hours for a test. I feel like they intentionally leave out the part where your insurance has to pay for an exam (I asked if there was a copay and they could not confirm whether or not I would be charged). I didn't bother getting the test as I had mild symptoms. I have been a customer there before but because I felt they were hiding the extra cost of an exam when they advertised testing, they are not trustworthy.

Smart mouth PA
I went because I was out of insulin and trying to find a new doctor. Yes, insulin not pain pills or anxiety drugs. It was insulin. After telling me they could write me some 1 time to get me thru till I found a doctor, I sit and wait almost 45 minutes to get in, a PA comes in ( not even a doctor) and talks to me like a dog and tells me she can't write it. Even though they have written it for me before. I've been a type 1 diabetic (they didn't even ask what type I had) since I was 8 years old. I'm now 43. She's lucky I walked away because I could have really ruined her day.

Get my co pay and refuse to see me.
- Shannon Wipf, M.D. - Thu, 9/24 at 6:40 PM . This was the doctor I had a virtual appointment with after paying a 30.00 copay. She told me to go to the clinic On Markham in Little Rock And she would call ahead and let get them to do a urine sample. When I got there, The doctor and the clerk told me to go to the emergency room There was nothing they could do And they refuse to see me after I had paid the money. Why would I waste my gas driving up there when the doctor above told me to go. Never again. You all are a rip off.

Bad customer service. Message on my voicemail that lab results were ready to call back to review them. I am still waiting to finally talk to someone at the facility. When I demanded that if no one is available to discuss the result with me, that they should hand me the lab result to take to my PCP, I was suddenly informed that the lab was not resulted ( that was already six days). I want to not only to report them so badly to the State but also to sue them! They are disgusting.

It made me give a star or else I wouldn’t give it any!
Absolutely horrible experience! Walked into an over crowded waiting room. And that’s all people were doing. WAITING! Almost 50 minutes went by before they even took one person back to be seen! I was only there to have a TB test read for employment and I waited almost 2 HOURS! Staff was rude and incompetent when I tried to asked what was going on!

Med Express in North Huntingdon has giving me so much trouble over the last few months. My son needed immunity testing for a college medical program. I called ahead and all tests would be $270 which I paid up front. One test was 2-parts. They attempted to charge him again for the 2nd part which I pointed out was not correct. He went back for Hep B test which I again paid up front $60. They put it through the wrong insurance which was denied and I get a bill for $43. So if I am paying them up front, why are they even trying to put it through insurance? Am I going to get refunded the 'discount' amount that insurance would have paid? My son signed paperwork allowing me to discuss his results and pick up his paperwork. EVERY time I try to do this there is an issue. They say they are not allowed to release to me. I spent 20 minutes while they attempted to locate the paperwork he signed and what to you know, it seemed to magically appear! I called billing 2 weeks ago regarding the bill I received...they DID discuss with me and said they would send for review. Nothing was done. Called again yesterday and was now told they cannot discuss with me. I explained that my son signed paperwork in Nov allowing me to handle. She said it wasn't filled out properly so she cannot talk to me. OMG. I am so tired of getting different excuses every single time I try to deal with them. Whose fault is it that the paperwork is not correct? My guess is not mine or my son's. I am beyond frustrated with the Med Express. What I have written here doesn't even cover everything that I've been through. They hold his paperwork hostage and make me jump through hoops when in fact we have done what we were supposed to do! But it depends on who is working that day or who picks up the phone. It's shocking that there are no standards.

Hello I was wondering has anybody dealt with MedExpress I had an incident that happened where I had to go I don't have a co-pay and I asked them or actually I just looked into my bank account and they took out $145 and I never got an email or anything on it so I contacted them and the lady told me that we need to put your card on hold we won't use it or anything without you knowing about it and said we will send you in the mail your bill and when you had 10 days if you don't pay it then we'll take it off your card well they never contacted me and they took $145 off my account and I was trying to reach out and see if anybody else has had any problems with them

Just had this happen to me. They wiped out my checking account and never bothered with a phone call or letter.

I took my son to Med Express with a horrible headache and cough. I have great insurance through the city and paid my co-pay at the front desk before we were ever seen. Over a month later, I get a $150 charge with no explanation of what I am being later charged for. My son was tested for strep, which came back negative. Once that came back the nurse practitioner came in and insisted that we check him for the flu. I told her that I did not think that it was the flu considering that he had been sick with a cough for about a week and had no fever at all. She kept insisting, so I agreed, but before I asked her if I would be charged for these tests or if they will file with my insurance, she told me that they would file with my insurance and that she had never seen anyone's insurance not pay for these routine test, but if for some reason they didn't it would be very minimal... I do not call a $150 charge to my account a month later with NO notification at all to be minimal. I was warned by a friend that this place is a scam, but being that I didn't want to take him to the ER and have to pay the ER fee of $150 I did it anyway. NEVER AGAIN. I would much rather go to the ER and know up front what to expect and have the option to make payments considering I am a mom of 7 with a tight budget. Having a surprise $150 taken out of my account with no notice is unacceptable and terrible business practice. I will warn all of my friends and family to stay away from Med Express at all cost!

yeah you know what the crazy thing is when I went to Med Express the first time they told me that they would need my card on file just to have it there and I was like okay and they told me that they would send me something in the mail send me my payment in the mail inside and pay for it they would charge my card

On Aug 30th I went to MedExpress In Meriden. I was so frustrated with the Dr.Jose Eatela

I went in for and ear infection and then I proceeded to tell him about a surgery I am going to have. It is going to be my neck I have a pinched nerve in between the dics . He then decided to tell my not to do it I am going to die. He then asked me how old I was and I told him 74 definitely you are going to die. He told me to say the rosary and I will see the light. I said to him If I die I will see the light.
This doctor should be taken off the face of the earth. I have been so upset and being a nervous reck. Do I or Do I not do it?
I am going to report this to my surgeon.

Went in for an x-ray on my finger and paid my $45 copay. They took $150 from my checking account a month later under a different companies name. Did a little digging and found they are part of MedExpress. Never received an invoice for these charges.
I had a friend who does medical billing take a look at the charge on my bank account and inform me that they used a billing code for cancer treatments.
Will never do business with them again as this seems very shady.

I will never recommend using facility! The front office staff is very rude and could care less about the patients. We are the ones who pay your salaries!
This facility is disorganized and truly lacks the professionalism of a trusted medical office.
I have experienced incorrect billing incorrect medical records and poor care
Even states they have no records of me!
Utilize the other urgent care services within 25 minute drive and save yourself the headaches

Review: Was seen on 5/21/2016 for UTI and prescribed a medication by a nurse practitioner. I informed her that my PCP does not recommend this med and gave her the name of the recommended med ([redacted]). She prescribed another med ([redacted]) and assured me this would work fine. I picked up med at pharmacy and read patient insert from pharmacy, noticing that it would not be safe to take with my current med history. Called med express in wash, pa and nurse practitioner gone for day; explained I wanted [redacted] prescribed and reason why. Was told by office someone would call back; they never did. I called back and was told the MD there at the time called my pharmacy and informed them he would not change med for me. I asked to speak with him and he was very rude and disrespectful to me; said to take med. I informed him I would take it (because it was a weekend and I was in pain from UTI) and that if something happened, I would hold him responsible. He replied, "yeah, whatever, you have a good night" and hung up on me. I took med and experienced severe side effects, had to be seen in ER and miss day of work. My PCP informed me to stop taking immediately and prescribed [redacted] for me.Desired Settlement: Refund for visit ($30),cost of medication ($18.98), and cost of one day's work ($97.52) for a total of $146.50.

August 11, 2016Revdex.comWestern Pennsylvania[redacted]Re: [redacted]ID# [redacted]Dear Ms. [redacted]:This is to acknowledge receipt of your July 31, 2016 letter regarding the above referenced matter. Ms. [redacted] was treated at MedExpress on May 21, 2016 for a possible UTI. She was examined by our physician and prescribed an antibiotic, [redacted].Ms. [redacted] contacted MedExpress on May 22, 2016 expressing concern that the pharmacist suggested she not take the antibiotic prescribed due to her health history. Our physician, spoke with the pharmacist to verify any possible interaction. Pharmacist denied any interactions, as well as verbalizing this interaction to the patient.MedExpress has made several attempts to reach Ms, [redacted] via telephone without success resulting in multiple voicemail messages requesting a return call so we could discuss the complaint. Ms. [redacted] failed to return any of our calls. On August 4, 2016 we made another attempt to contact Ms. [redacted] regarding her complaint however she refused to speak with us. Accordingly, we are refunding patient expenditures totaling $48.98 ($30 co-pay and $18.98 paid for medication) and consider the matter resolved.Very truly yours, Nichole C[redacted],Quality Assurance Specialist

Review: I took my child for treatment to this facility. He was diagnosed and prescribed 2 prescriptions. Upon checking out, I was asked if I wanted them to fill the 2 prescriptions. I asked what the charge would be. The clerk told me they would be $15.00 each. I decided to get them filled for a total of $30.00 even though they would have been less expensive if I went to a pharmacy - but for the convenience I decided to pay the $30.00.When we got home, I received a phone call from Med Express clerk who apologized but proceeded to tell me she misquoted the price and that they were going to charge me an additional $15.00 making it a total of $45.00 which made the 2 prescriptions about 3 times more expensive than what I would have paid at the pharmacy. I told I would not pay the additional $15.00 - I could bring the medications back if she wanted but I was not paying an additional $15.00. She was less than nice about the whole thing then put me on hold to talk to the manager. She got back on the phone and said the manager told her they would waive the additional $15.00 charge. Not to my surprise, I then received a bill from their billing service and when I did not pay it, I received a second notice for the $15.00.I am paying the bill but wrote a letter of dispute and told them I was filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. This is not the first time I have had billing issues with this facility but previously it was with misbilling of the insurance company and it took numerous phone calls to get it straightened out.Desired Settlement: I want the $15.00 refunded and no further notices from them or their billing service.

Review: I visited Med Express in April 2014. I had a balance due and advised them that I would pay 24.27 and then 84.50. I was presented with a sheet and the billing associate advised me that this authorized them to bill my credit card or debit card. I was never told by the associate that this was basically me agreeing to have any bill drafted even before a paper statement was sent in the mail. So on 5/5 I had 124.37 drafted and on 5/16 another 150.00 drafted. This wasn't even 30 days after my initial visit. I never even recieved these "electronic statements" from them stating they would be drafting my account. When I asked for them to be forwarded to the correct email they have on file they were not able to do that. I can only assume that it was a manual error and they spelled my name wrong in the email as I do not delete ANY emails from my gmail account. There are several issues with the way they are conducting business. If and when they present information to sign they should clearly explain that they will not recieve a paper statement that you could have multiple payments draft etc. That they will email yolu when a payment is going to draft. I am very dissapoointed as I really like Med Express but the way te business is conducting theur payment collectin is snothing less thean shady.Desired Settlement: I would like for the past two payments to be credited back to my card and to have the ability to set up a payment arrangement. Since this money was debited before an actual bill was even sent, I was never even given the opportunity to decide whether I wanted to pay in full or do a payment arrangement. This is not fair as it is not treating all of their patients equally. I would also like for their associates to post something at the desk explaining CLEARLY what you are signing up for.

Review: Went in for Poison Ivy treatment, asked [redacted] how much total office visit would be/with or without insurance. I was told $50.00 for steroid shot or prescription. I double checked amount because I have high deduct. with insurance. Was told $50.00. Went into office, nurse took blood pressure and temp. Dr. came in asked what was wrong, showed poison ivy, asked if I wanted shot or prescription-said prescription because I'm sure it would be cheaper. Was in office total of 5 minutes. Later received bill for $210.00/ Have gone into office/called [redacted]-Center Mgr/asked for her mgr [redacted] Spoke with Mr. Neeley and he indicated that noone would quote that amount, I asked if he was calling me a liar? He stated he would look into and get back to me. Never has. Called Ms. [redacted] and she referred me to [redacted], the billing supervisor. Spoke with her and told her I would be willing to pay the $50.00, but she was going to check with someone and get back with me. Never did, called back and was told they would discount bill 20%. I feel like I was at a used car dealer and got the BAIT N SWITCH. It was only P/I for $210??Desired Settlement: For me to pay the amount of the agreed upon price for services of $50.00 and for any credit/collection activity to be removed.

March 29, 2016Revdex.comWestern Pennsylvania[redacted]Re: [redacted]ID# [redacted]Dear Ms. [redacted]:This is to acknowledge receipt of your correspondence of March 22, 2016, regarding the above referenced matter. During Ms. [redacted]’s clinical visit of 02/15/16, she executed our Convenient Pay Contract, a copy of which is attached hereto. This Agreement authorizes MedExpress to charge her credit card up to $150.00 for any patient responsibility as determined by her health insurance carrier upon claim processing. MedExpress submitted the claim to [redacted] based on the insurance information Ms. [redacted] provided at the time of service. The claim was denied in full by [redacted] on 03/06/16, due to a coordination of benefits issue. This eventually resulted in a $150.00 charge to the credit card to which Ms. [redacted] authorized charges under terms and conditions of the Agreement. On 03/21/16 and at the request of Ms. [redacted] we resubmitted her claim to [redacted]. MedExpress received payment in full for Ms. [redacted]’s claim on 03/22/16, resulting in an overpayment of $150. We spoke with Ms. [redacted] that same day, explained the Convenient Pay process and the action taken by [redacted] and refunded the $150.00 overpayment directly back to her credit card ending in [redacted].We now consider this issue resolved between the parties.Very truly yours, Nichole C[redacted],Quality Assurance Specialist

Review: I took my son to get a pysical at Med Express in August. I paid $30 for the physical and they claim they do not have record of the payment. This is completely incorrect. Med Express collects payment before they complete the physical. I tried to contact them and resolve the issue. They claim they could not find record of the payment and sent it to collections. They filed it against my son who is twelve years old. I will never get another physical there and I urge you not to have a physical there. I only went there because his pcp was sick and cancelled the appointment. DO NOT GO THERE.Desired Settlement: Billing adjustment

Went to the MedExpress in Meadville PA with back pain in March 2015. We went early in the afternoon (about 2 or so) and not a single person was there. Had to fill out some papers because it was our first time going there. We chose MedExpress because I don't have a doctor here and I didn't want to pay for the hospital. Even though there wasn't a single person there we still had to wait for 15-20 minutes to even get seen. I was taken into a room where a guy (never told me his name) asked me some basic questions (birth control, height, weight, etc.) and told me that I would need to provide a urine sample before they could do an x-ray. I was then taken into the doctors office and waited for the doctor (I don't even know if she told me her name, saw on my bill later that it was [redacted]). First off she was NOT pleasant. She asked me how I hurt my back and when I told her I wasn't quite sure, I was taking a shower and after a couple minutes I couldn't move very well, she said that wasn't a good enough answer. She asked me several times more and I told her the same thing, I wasn't sure, maybe I bent over, I don't quite remember, I just remember the pain. She didn't seem satisfied but it was the only answer I had. She had me lay down and lift my legs then I sat back up and she asked if I had any troubles going to the bathroom. When I said it hurt to push she said, almost exactly, "I'm going to stop you right there because I don't want to waste your time. You need to go to the hospital." That was that. I spent maybe ten minutes in the room before she ushered me out. No tests were ever run, no urine sample was given, no discussion about billing me later so we left assuming that the bill probably wouldn't be that much since she just sent me to the hospital after asking a couple questions. A couple weeks later I received a bill for $182.91, imagine my shock opening that up. Before insurance they charged me 210 for the appointment in which they did nothing and then 50 for basically a convenience charge (50 dollars for not having to make an appointment basically). I called MedExpress to dispute it and it was sent to the director who decided that the doctor had "evaluated" me so they were going to charge me for the appointment. $210.00 for an evaluation? I hung up because I was tired of dealing with them (it's now May so this has been going on for 2 months). Never returning to this place again. I'll also add that the hospital ran a CAT scan and determined that I have a bulging disc. After all was said and done the hospital cost me $115 for EVERYTHING, examination, CAT scan, IV for pain meds. I will tell everyone I know to never go to this place.

Review: I went into the Medexpress facility after a reaction to a bug bit I had received the previous week. I prepaid for the service in the amount of 106 dollar or so being that I didn't have medical insurance. The staff instructed me to go sit in the room and wait for the doctor. The doctor came into the room and I explained to her what had happened, we only had a conversation, I didn't get a physical examination of any sort. At the conclusion of the brief explanation she determined that the facility could not treat me and that she recommended me going straight to the emergency room. This entire exchange took maybe 5 minutes and as I was checking out I asked specifically with the doctor present that being that I wasn't able to be seen or serviced how I would go about receiving a refund, the instructions given to me were that if I went to the emergency room and that was documented and sent back to them I would be entitled to a refund. I have a witness who was present when this conversation took place as well. I went to the emergency room and it was found that I had a significant medical situation. After receiving care in the hospital my witness and I called Medexpress a number of times to check the status of the refund and they kept telling us the manager wasn't available, I finally got thru after 6 calls or so and the manager sent the information to their administrator and the administrator determined that they gave me adequate care being that they did an examination and recommended me go to the emergency room, even though no examination was given.Desired Settlement: I would just like them to refund the fee which is what they said they would do, I didn't receive any treatment, not even an examination, the doctor indicated that she knew that the facility couldn't treat me immediately after hearing what I came in for.

Review: I took my son for an exam in 2013. In December, 2015, he went back to the same facility for an exam (he hadn't been there since the 2013 visit). He was told that there was a past due balance from the 2013 visit that needed to be paid before he could be examined that day. I immediately paid the balance in order for him to see a doctor.

I had never received a bill or notification of a past due balance - nothing from Med Express or any collection agency in almost 3 years, even though they had my correct address on file. I had no idea that the insurance company did not cover the exam in full.

Two months after I paid the balance in full - at the first request for payment from Med Express - I noticed that my credit rating significantly dropped. They reported the account as a collection, creating a negative public record and a black mark on my credit record.Desired Settlement: Remove the negative public record placed on my credit record.
