Hello Everyone, I just officially closed on a house on December 24, that was financed by Shelter Mortgage Company, and the entire process with them was a nightmare from start to finishI was first told about them by a realtor that I certainly wished would have recommend someone else to meI had about as bad an experience as you can have, and as a result, I strongly recommend that you use someone else for your own mortgage needsI will provide you a few of my reasons for that recommendation hereTheir website is very misleadingThey requested tons of things from me that was not stated on their website as being required to qualify for a mortgage They wanted me to explain things on my credit report as far back as months before I talked to them, even after pulling my credit reportThey wanted letters of explanation written for every single credit check on my reportSpeaking of which, they checked my credit on 8/24/14, 10/1/14, and 12/1/I only authorized the initial credit check, and as a result of them checking my credit times, my score dropped pointsThey also went through my bank statements and wanted me to write letters of explanation for financial transactions that was done months before I spoke to them and wasn’t related to me purchasing a house at allThey also went through my taxes, and then, they called my accountant wanting him to write letters of explanation for the things they couldn’t comprehendIf my taxes were good enough for the federal tax authorities, they should have been good enough for themThey also used 4.125% as the interest rate for the financial numbers in my good faith estimate from them, but I was told that the final rate would be floated to find me the best rate at the timeAs it turns out, I was not told until the day before closing that 4.125% would be the actual and final rate, which didn’t leave me time to do anything elseI have no doubt that was intentionalI told them that the title company in Phoenix, AZ where I was bought the house was closing houses at 3.75% with my credit scoreThey had just closed one the day before mine, but they were not willing to lower the rate to match that at allI have since found out whyI received a letter in the mail dated days before my closing date and day before I was told the final interest rate that my loan had already been sold by them to someone elseI told the person I worked with that I would be refinancing the house if she didn’t give me a lower rateShe said if I did she would have to buy the loan back, but since she didn’t lower the rate, I will refinance my house once everything has had time to get on fileTherefore, take it from my, avoid Shelter Mortgage Company at all costsSincerely, ***

They wanted letters of explanation written for every single credit check on my report. Speaking of which, they checked my credit on 8/24/14, 10/1/14, and 12/1/14.
