Medias Painting

Review: We had previously hired MEDIAS to paint the lower level of our home, which we were completely satisfied with. [redacted] was very professional & was easy to do business with. He gave us an estimate for a very reasonable price. The workers did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. We decided to hire them again to paint our bedrooms & bathrooms, but this time [redacted] took the call. He came to our house and "mentally" took estimates for each room. The following day he emailed us the estimate. We thought it was a little pricey for the sizes of our rooms but because we had great experience with them before, so we didn't give it another thought. That was until the job was almost done. We have a tray ceiling in our master bedroom and the price estimated for the room was supposed to include painting the tray ceiling. When we called [redacted], he told us that it wasn't supposed to be included with the price for the room and that if we wanted it painted it would cost us an extra $170, and that we had to buy another gallon of paint to do it. He then told us to write a separate check for it, made out to HIS NAME!!! Of course we didn't like the idea of doing that, so we negotiated the price (which they claim that they never usually do) but we were adamant about not writing the check out in his name. After a couple of heated conversations, he finally gave in and told us that he will have our tray ceiling painted for free. The guys were done pretty fast and we came to inspect it. It didn't look any different, but the workers convinced us that it was only because the paint was still wet and that it will be more noticeable when the paint dried. That wasn't the case. The next day, it still looked like it was never painted. We looked at our ceiling at different angles, but still no paint was noticeable. Of course we felt like we had been taken for a ride! Then we began noticing other small imperfections, like paint splats/spills on out fixtures, toilet handles and where the ceiling meets the top of the wall. Also in our kids bathroom, there was paint all over the towel rail, which they tried to hide by turning it backwards. Does this sound like proper professionals to you? NO! We feel like we didn't receive the full promise that they state in their advertising: "goal of providing the highest quality painting and staining jobs, and constantly striving to exceed our customer's expectations......" "Professional management – entire painting project will be supervised from start to finish. You will be informed on the status of the project, to answer your questions and address concerns.." "Guarantee – we assure the job with two years guarantee..." "Employees – we bring a reliable and courteous attitude...." "Service – we do quality work..." "Value – professional craftsmanship for a reasonable price...." The above statements have been promised and advertised on their own website. In our opinion they have not fulfilled half of their advertised statements. We are very disappointed that their work was not exemplary as before and when we bought it up with the owner, he basically told us that he didn't care. We paid them in full, not knowing that the imperfections were there. Once we noticed them, we did inform the owner but he didn't even offer to correct it, or apologize on his workers behalf. This is poor business etiquette and we feel like we have not received the service that was communicated on their website, estimate proposal, and from the [redacted] himself.Desired Settlement: We believe that they should give us a portion of our money back, due to misinterpreting an advertised service. We are definitely not happy with their work and lack of professionalism.
