removal, nasal endoscopies, or allergy testing at times are considered by some insurance carries as surgical procedures, at which time the services are applied towards patient deductibles. There are some insurances carries that do not apply these services to deductibles and are covered by standard copay. Each patient's plan may differ. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, contains provisions that govern how we report our charges to insurance carriers. Failure for us to collect a share of the patient's bill (copays, deductibles, or coinsurance) can to can be construed as misrepresenting our actual charge, which can lead to a HIPAA violation. If we waive a patient's share of the bill, insurance carriers can also see it as program abuse and terminate our contract with them. In order to better assist our patients, we do offer flexible payment plans, but cannot reduce what insurance carriers assign to a patient's responsibility.
