I am not impressed with this web site. You have Med, Inc. Not Medical Equipment Distributors of Raleigh. We cannot bill Maryland Medicaid.

Review: A representative of Med, Inc. ([redacted]) picked up my customized Motorized Wheelchair for repair and brought a Loaner Wheelchair on February 21, 2012. The repalcement parts and labor were billed to and paid for by Maryland Medicaid. The replacement parts were approved on February 28, 2012 and the billing for labor, etc. was billed at a later date through a different system. In April 2012 the batteries on the Loaner Wheelchair died out and had to be replaced at a cost of $421.00 and two battery chargers were ordered at a cost of $750.00. I found out the batteries were defective and not that I didn't have a charger to recharge them everyday. The charger that cost $450.00 was the wrong charger for the type of chair I had and was subsequently sent back and I have never been reimbursed for. I also needed changes made to the top part of my Wheelchair because of a weight gain and because I was to be fitted with a Back Brace. I met with [redacted] who does their Wheelchair Seating in August 2012 at [redacted] so he could take measurements and take information for the changes that I needed so the Wheelchair could be "Grown". I called Med, Inc. in November/December 2012 to see if my Wheelchair was ready and [redacted] told me my Wheelchair was delivered to [redacted] and I told him no it wasn't and then he said it was delivered to [redacted] and I told him no it wasn't, I'm still sitting in your loaner chair, he told me he would find out where the chair is and get back to me. I called again in January 2013 and the chair still had not been found and he asked did I want to keep the loaner chair because it had more features on it and I said no, I need a wheelchair for my disability besides it was a used chair, he said he would get back to me. During 2013 different repairs needed to be made on the Loaner Chair with the last with the batteries being changed which I had a problem with them burning out fast on the first day. The Wheelchair was also jumping when gears were switched which started back again on the same day. I charged the batteries that night and the next day they died out before the day was over, I called the next day and left a message for [redacted] that I'm having the same problems with the Wheelchair and that it needed to be serviced. I didn't see [redacted] (Repair Tech) until January 14, 2014 to do an assessment of the chair and the problems were explained why I was having so many problems and everything that needed to be replaced. These repairs have not been fixed including the wheelchair going into default and cutting off (twice in the street), the wheelchair slowing down, the chair cutting off with the chair in the "On" position, the chair jerking, the batteries dying out and the Fire department had to be called to push me back to [redacted], one morning my foot slipped off the footplate and when I started the chair it jerked forward and caught my ankle between the Room door and the footplate. I spoke to the Owner earlier in January 2014 after two of his employees gave me a hard time about my Wheelchair and to be reimbursed for the Charger and he didn't know where my Wheelchair but that I needed to be Re-Seated for a new chair to replace my Wheelchair and he would speak to [redacted] so he could meet me at [redacted] but but left a message for me saying he just found out on January 21, 2014 about the meeting and that he hoped it wasn't for that day. I called him on the 23rd or 24th and let him know when I would be at [redacted] again and that he would have his secretary call me to put me on his schedule. That still has not happened. I've left two messages for the company to make the repairs of the Loaner Chair because it is defective and dangerous and no one has called back. I did report my Wheelchair stolen to the Police who called the owner and he was supposed to call me the next day. I'm still waiting for the call. Incidentally when the motors burned out in Wheelchair May 16, 2011 I called Med Inc. regarding repairs, I finally spoke with [redacted] but he never told me that my make of Wheelchair had a problem with the motors burning out fast, so this should have been a problem taken care of by Med Inc. This Power Wheelchair was delivered to me through the [redacted] on/about August 28, 2009.Desired Settlement: At this point I do not want a new wheelchair from this company, I will sue them in court for for the cost of the Wheelchair and Charger but they do need to make the repairs and put the replacement parts on this chair and continue to do so until I recieve another Chair. It is dangerous for me to use this chair especially in the street and I want other customers to know that this might happen to them too.

Business

Response:

I spoke with [redacted] from the business and she stated that the consumer did order a custom chair through them. The chair was made and delivered to the consumer. The consumer did need a bigger chair in 2012. They company had the same chair with an extra feature that would fix the consumer. They did an even exchange with the consumer and the first chair was picked up. The chair they exchanged with the consumer is her new chair. The consumer then called the company stating she wanted the original chair back. They could not do that and had a scheduled meeting planed and the consumer did not show up. In order for the consumer to receive a new chair, the consumer would need to go back through the ordering process.
