Medical Weight Loss Centers Reviews (3)

I wish I would've found Medical Weight Loss sooner The staff is very supportive and friendly It's a program I can commit to and it taught me to cook with more spices I've also realized how wrong my eating habits were and what I need to do to keep my weight down This program has changed my life forever

Review: I contracted with Medical Weight Loss Centers (MWLC)on October 9, 2013 for a period of 12 weeks with an additional 4 weeks of maintenance at a cost of $425.00. I had been going for my weekly visits meeting with [redacted] the owner/medical supervisor. On November 6, I went for my weekly weigh in with [redacted] and was subjected to total unprofessional behavior by him. He threw me out of his office while screaming at me, telling his staff to call 911. He was visibly shaking with anger and frankly, behaving unstable. As I proceeded to try and have a rationale conversation with him, I repeated Oh my God a few times, because I couldn't believe his behavior. He then proceeded to mock me and said in a condecending tone "Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, why don't you say it a few more times. He continued on attempting to imitate me and repeating my statements as if I was a whiney child. He was then ranting that "all you people that don't do well want to sue me." I asked him what he was talking about that in fact I was doing very well and had lost 14 1/2 pounds to date. At one point he slammed his office door in my face. He told his staff to give me my money back for the protein I was purchasing this week. This terrifying reaction is because the week prior he became aware that I had purchased the same protein supplements from [redacted] and he became angry at that meeting. When I went in this week, I told him last week he had made me feel uncomfortable and that he had insulted me. I cannot fit all of the details here, but feel I deserve a full refund and don't feel this man should be dealing with the public. He certainly does not demonstrate any type of demeanor to be working as a so called medical professional. I would be happy to speak with someone directly to provide more informaton.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund of $425. I had 8 weeks remaining. Please contact me directly for further details regarding this matter.

On October 9, 2013, Ms. [redacted] re-enrolled in our 12 week program (she was a returning patient). It is clearly stated in our contract that "all protein supplements must be purchased through Medical Weight Loss Centers. This is for your safety and our protection. We reserve the right to terminate your program should you not comply with this policy (no refunds)." On Ms. [redacted]'s October 23rd visit, she mentioned to one of our medical assistants that she was buying her food from a place that was "closer to home and that the food is cheaper." Since Ms. [redacted] would not have enough protein servings for her week and the medical liability this posed, our medical assistant relayed this information to our medical provider, [redacted] PA-C.

Review: I have requested a refund from MWLC for visits. MWLC indicates that I can't get one or use the money toward any products.

I have been a patient of MWLC for over three years and I had faithfully come for my visits. I initially lost a good deal of weight but have put it back on.

Recently, I've changed jobs and have been unable to come for my visits due to a heavy travel schedule. Also, MWLC has significantly reduced their staff and has changed their hours since I signed up for the last set of visits.

MWLC advertises that the will provide tools to manage your illness for life. The contracts also states that support will be provided. Support was initially provided via assessments and group meetings but was cancelled.

I feel that MWLC is not upholding their commitment to me. They change their policies frequently and expect the patients to just adjust. Yet, they are not taking the changes I am experiencing into consideration.

MWLC advertises that they will address they will address the root cause of weight gain so that you can keep the weight off permanently. This has obviously not happened in my case. I had given them many tries to help me loose the weight again but to no avail. Their program is falsely advertised. I think requesting a refund, given my schedule changes and their staff and schedule changes and program ineffectiveness is reasonable. Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund of $240.00

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/06/05) */

This patient re-enrolled in our medically supervised program on 10/27/2012. This was her 7th re-enroll after her initial 12 week program. Every patient signs a contract in which they also initial next to each policy and there program end date. She was on monthly visits with an end date of 9/30/2013.

This contract specifically states our refund policy, "We do not issue refunds on any products or services." This policy is also posted in our sales area.

This patient left a messgae for me on 5/13/2013. She returned my call on 5/23/2013. She told me she was having a hard time making it here and wanted a refund. I explained that we do not issue refunds. I offered her to put her program on "hold" until she could re-commit herself to coming. I told her we only do this for medical reasons, but since she has been coming a long time, I would do that for her. She refused saying that she did not want to come back.

She asked if she could use the remaining visits towards protein supplements. I explained that she purchased a service and it could not be transferred to buy products.

She then started to say that we do not come through with what we advertise. I asked her how is that so? She told me we have changed our days/hours. This is completely not true. I have been here for 7 years and we have been open Tuesday through Saturday the entire time. We have actually increased our evening hours on Thursday nights.

She said we have reduced staff. This is true due to the economy. We have in our contract stated that, "we cannot guarantee appointments on a specific day, time or with a specific provider, but we will do our best to accommodate your needs." We have 2 full time and 1 part time medical provider currently. There is always an open appointment.

Part of the success of our program is the responsibility of the patient to show up for their sessions. This is a medically supervised protocol with strict guidelines. I am suprised at her saying we use false advertising when she continued to keep signing up. Her initial reason for a refund was not the effectiveness of our program, it was her inability to get here.

This patient was being nasty and unreasonable. I referred her to the Owner/Associate Medical Director, [redacted]. He reiterated the same policies to her. He explained that he shows up everyday ready to treat and counsel his patients. Again, much of the success of the program is the patient simply showing up. This patient got so infuriated that she told him to go f[redacted] himself. She also stated she would contact the Revdex.com and "bad mouth" us on Facebook.

We were very disappointed with her reaction. We were trying to work with her with giving her the "hold" option.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/06/06) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

As is stated, I have been a loyal program participant, signing up for 7 enrollments. I never achieved the promised weight loss that was advertised while faithfully following the program. The program does not work as advertised.

Further, there have been several changes to hours, adding hours on Monday then eliminating them, opening later on Tuesdays which makes it hard to come before work, offering support groups that were part of the plan and then retracting them. If MWLC can change their policies as they wish, then it would be reasonable to allow a patient to make a change, especially since I have been loyal and they have made quite a bit of money on me. Also, as stated, the program has not worked for me although I have given it more that a fair shot.

The only settlement I will accept is either a refund or the ability to purchase supplements with the remaining $240.
