Medina's Painting

I had contacted Israel Medina to stain my deck and privacy fence last spring. I specifically told him what kind of stain that I wanted him to use on both the fence and deck, an oil based stain that would penetrate the wood. I stressed that I DID NOT want to use the stain that looked like paint when it was applied. He used the correct stain for the fence but did not use the same type of stain for the deck. He used the stain that I told him I DID NOT want for the deck and lied to me when I questioned him about the difference. He told me he used the same kind for both the fence and the deck. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking that it didn't look like what I wanted but I would see how it preformed. This spring the stain started peeling off on the deck just as I suspected it would! I contacted him and he came to look at the peeling and told me he would take care of it. The deck needed sanding and the correct stain applied. He told me he would start the next week with sanding and then apply the correct stain. After several weeks of putting me off with weak excuses, he never showed up and stopped returning my phone calls and voicemail messages. I have had to contact another painter to fix my deck and I am out an additional $1,200 to have the problem corrected.
