Medlin Hyundai

Dealer was told only fix the sunroof if Hyundai would cover under warranty. Hyundai would not cover the total. Dealer could not get it back in. Hyundai was taken in (4/6/2016)for warranty recall for brakes. I told the dealer the sunroof did not operate and if Hyundai would cover under warranty to fix it. I called and Hyundai would only pay half of $2,400, so I said do not fix it. The dealer would not get the sunroof back in and left me parts in the back seat and taped my sunroof which is sitting up about 1/2" will leak and can not be driven. They kept my car 23 days and then told me it was ready. When I got there I saw the roof and told them this was not fixed or acceptable. Service manager [redacted] said he had done all he could do. The sunroof was flush and not leaking when they got it. The break lights also had not been fixed when I got there and had to wait 1 1/2 hours for that to get fixed. I have pictures and also email trail from [redacted] who was my service agent. The car is a 2010 Hyundai Genesis with less than 54K miles.Desired SettlementI can't drive the car now because it will leak and it sounds like a jet engine with the wind going into the sunroof. I want the sunroof put back and not leaking as it was before. Business Response May 24, 2016 To whom it may concern,Mr. [redacted] did not purchase his vehicle from us ([redacted] Motors dba [redacted] Hyundai). It is our understanding that Mr. [redacted] originally took his vehicle for repair at the dealer from whom he bought the car. They did not even offer to help get some sort of repair financial assistance from the factory Hyundai Motor America.Because the dealer from whom he purchased the vehicle would not assist him, he was referred to us by Hyundai Motor America. An appointment was set with our service advisor [redacted].Upon initial observation of the vehicle when it arrived at our dealership we could tell that the sunroof had been taped up at one time but the roof was closed. In order to properly diagnose the problem with the sunroof it had to be opened to expose the roof track and other operating parts. When the sunroof was opened a piece fell out from where a body shop had damaged the sunroof more when Mr. [redacted] had taken it there in order for the roof to be closed. Upon our final diagnostic of the problem we found the sunroof track was bent and needed to be replaced.Although the car was out of warranty effective 10/23/14 we went to Hyundai Motor America on our own accord to try and obtain some financial assistance for Mr. [redacted]. The estimate for sunroof replacement was $2761 of which we got Hyundai Motor America to pay 50%.Mr. [redacted] was not happy with that and declined the repair so we got the sunroof closed back to the best of our ability and taped up so it would not leak at a time of 1 1/2 hours for which we did not charge him.Also we did not charge him anything for the time it took to diagnose the problem or the time it took to get assistance from Hyundai Motor America.All of this was done for free by us keeping in mind that the car was not purchased from us and he has never had any prior repairs performed by us.We believe we have gone above and beyond to try and assist Mr. [redacted].Thank you for your assistance in this matter.Sincerely,[redacted]Service Manager
