superior service throughout their enrollment in our institution. As a nationally accredited school, we inform students that our credentials are recognized across the United States, however, we do not guarantee that a student will not be required to further their education to achieve his/her desired career goals in states outside the one we currently operate in. We do guarantee continued support for all students, even after completion of the program. Our support extends into job placement assistance, the ability to return to campus to review skills and receive tutoring at no additional cost and access to our web resource page with helpful tips, job postings, etc.
[redacted] enrolled in our Comprehensive Dental Assisting program in July 2014. She completed the program in March 2015. At that time, Ms. [redacted] mother contacted the school. She informed the Executive Director that she and her [redacted] were moving to [redacted] immediately following graduation and that, in looking at the requirements to practice dental assisting in Florida, her [redacted] would have to start all over. She was extremely upset and felt that [redacted] had wasted her time and money in our school. She claims that this was discussed with the Admissions Department prior to enrolling and that they were reassured that the program credentials would transfer. At no time did the student or parent speak with the Executive Director, [redacted], or Director of Job Placement Assistance, [redacted], about this matter prior to enrolling. At the conclusion of the initial phone conversation between the Executive Director and Ms. [redacted] mother, the Executive Director reached out to the Director of Job Placement Assistance for guidance.
At that time, the Director of Job Placement Assistance confirmed that MedQuest College graduates are currently employed as dental assistants in [redacted] and offered to reach out to [redacted] for support. Through various phone calls, he attempted to find out what area she was relocating to specifically so that he could better target his efforts. Currently, we continue to provide support to Ms. [redacted] and have offered on multiple occasions to assist in whatever way possible. MedQuest College does not avoid calls or messages from this student as was indicated in the complaint.
In researching the complaint further, the state of [redacted] does not require a dental assistant to be certified, therefore, he/she can qualify for an entry-level position at a dental practice without any prior schooling. These requirements are the very similar to those in Kentucky, the state with which MedQuest College operates in. However, if you have a diploma in dental assisting – for example, the Comprehensive Dental Assisting diploma program offered at MedQuest College – you have an advantage in the field. You are not only considered a preferred candidate for the position, but you will likely start out with higher salary potential, etc. because of your credentials. Based on our research, Ms. [redacted] claim that she would have to start over at a different school, etc. is inaccurate. Her [redacted] would qualify as an on-the-job trained assistant and could begin her career immediately. If Ms. [redacted] intended to perform expanded duties as a dental assistant, she would need to complete a [redacted] Board-approved training program. Included with this letter, please find documentation from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) supporting our research.
After further review, no documentation was found in our recordkeeping system to indicate that Ms. [redacted] or her mother made mention of their plans to relocate to [redacted] prior to enrollment. If they made our Admissions staff aware of these plans, they were told that we are nationally accredited and that we can provide assistance when they move. MedQuest College does not guarantee anything beyond this in regards to the credentials required by other states. Included with this response, please find a copy of the MedQuest College Student Enrollment Agreement.  This agreement is reviewed and signed by every student who enrolls in a program at MedQuest College. Please note that there is no mention of transferability among states. In fact, it is clearly listed that we cannot guarantee job placement in the field, but will provide assistance to all students and alumni who are considered in good standing.
MedQuest College has maintained a reputation of high quality education for multiple years. Our job placement rates fall consistently in the between 80-94% - well above the local average. Our student satisfaction surveys and employer evaluations document the extreme efforts we take to ensure that all alumni are readily prepared for their career field. We proudly report that we have exceeded the requirements set forth by our accrediting commission (ABHES) in terms of student satisfaction and job placement rates. We ask that these factors be considered when reviewing the complaint against our school.
