I was rushed upon after being called by the medical assistant for a physical exam on 4 September, 2018 at MedRite Urgent Care on 330 W. 42nd St., New York, NY.

The medical assistant woman, called "Yeeyay", called my last name from a corridor.

I responded, "Yeah?" She did not instruct me nor meet me face-to-face.

The medical assistant came towards the entrance to the lobby from the corridor with the expectation that she would be followed without the need to tell me it.

She called my name again. I responded with the same response. She was reluctant to command and direct me with instructions. The woman acted impatient and did not show courtesy, formality, or patience with me.

I would dare to add that she did not show respect for me or regard me as an equal to her.

After I was finally told to follow her, I was guided into a room for the examination. The woman did not take a moment's pause. She immediately asked me to write my social security number and signature after taking my blood pressure and recording it on a printed template / paper for the examination.

I wanted to take my time to examine the document in detail.

Before I could finish reading it, the medical assistant asked me, "What is there for you to read?" and reinforced her premise with a second statement, "There is no information there for you to read. You won't understand what is on it." I replied, "I want to take my time to read this information before providing my social security and signature."

Unfortunately, she escalated the situation by raising the tone of her voice.

She told me that my point had no merit and that I did not need to read the information on the printed template.

The argument was audible from the reception area lobby.

She quickly stormed out of the room after realizing the patient (me) would not back down and was replaced by another medical assistant.

She was replaced by a medical assistant man named "Felix".

The examination went smoothly after her exit and departure. All other staff members were respectful and patient - except for this medical assistant woman.

Please beware if you are making an appointment at this facility.

Review: I went to Medrite in April 2013 after I fell on the street and injured my knee. I was in so much pain and no pain killers, even the prescription strength I had at home already worked, so I just wanted a doctor to give me some pills so I can get through the day at work. I spent about 15 minutes there and all I heard was "kids fall all the time and they don't cry so go back to work." The PA who saw me was so nasty and didn't listen to me at all, and didn't spent time looking at my knee with no skin on it and bleeding. Then I got a bill from Medrite... They charged my insurance for $555 claiming I spent more than 45 minutes in the office and they provided "extra services" to me. I went there during my lunch break and my discharge paper says there's 12 minutes between "first data entry" to "dismissal." After trying to resolve the issue with Medrite and their way of billing, a lady on the phone was haggling with me after she admitted they submitted wrong codes while billing my insurance. She said it doesn't matter because I have deductible so I would have to pay anyway and that I should pay them around $260. when I told her that's not right and she should re-submit the claim with correct codes and not charge my insurance for $555 so I don't have to pay that much, she was going down with the price, and finally she said I can just pay her $190 and we'll be even. I called my insurance who were going back and forth with me and Medrite and finally sent me a bill with my responsibility for that visit = $0. Then, after 16 months Medrite re-submited the claim with the same incorrect codes and I got collection agency calling me to pay $260. I don't know if it's even legal to do that. I called the insurance which I don't have anymore since January of 2014, and they said they go by codes Medrite submitted and I have to pay. I called Medrite this week asking how much they'd charge me if I need to see a doctor and don't have an insurance, they said $144. How come I have to pay $260 for not getting help in 2013?Desired Settlement: They do insurance fraud, I wonder how many more people they get money from like that.If I knew they are would try to get $555 from my insurance and charge only a little more than $100 for people without insurance I would not give them my insurance info. Now I have to live in stress loosing my mind because Medrite representatives are calling me threatening that I need to pay ASAP or they will send a collection agency on me for something that's completely wrong. They should pay me for that now.
