Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns brought to your attention by Medtech student *** ***We have listed below the concerns expressed by Ms*** and Medtech College's responseStudent claimed: Ms*** claimed that students were not notified of the quarter transition
Medtech action and response: Medtech notified students on July 315t that students will be transitioning to a quarter termWe did this via-a portal blast (Exhibit 1)Our Program Directors and Director of Education went around to each classroom to notify the students of the change during the week of July 20th, On August 1st, a personal email (Exhibit 2) was sent to students notifying of the changeSchedules were posted to the student's portal as of July 31st, We also had an available copy for the students on the first day of class, August 3rd, Student claimed: Ms*** stated that her graduation date is December 1st, Medtech action and response: Ms***'s original graduation date was scheduled for January 6th, prior to the transitioning to quartersWith the transition Ms*** can graduate as early as February 2016, depending upon how many hours are completed during her externship Student claimed: Ms*** claimed that this has put a dent in her financial aidMedtech action and response: While we cannot specifically address Ms***'s financial aid, this change does not alter her eligibility for financial aid nor does it change her tuition chargesI would also like to share that since receiving the complaint from Ms***, we have attempted to reach out to her to discuss her concerns with no successHowever, we will continue to follwith herWe hope this information is helpful in resolving Ms***'s issuesWe welcome the opportunity to meet with Ms*** to explain our responses in personIf you have any further questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact meI may be reached at 317-534-***Thank you so much for your time and assistance. School shut down before classes were complete
Signed up and paid $in full for a short term phlebotomy course on 8-5-with certification test to be given at the end of the six week course On 8-24, I received an email from the school to inform me that the school was closed effective immediately After calling the school and being prompt to leave a message, I left a detailed message to inquire about a refund To date I have not received a response or can not get a person on the phone

I was scheduled to meet an advisor and the program director for phlebotomy. I showed up for my appointment and neither one of the people I was supposed to meet with were there. I met with woman who tried to shove medical assisting down my throat no matter how many times I said I didn't want to take that course. I called the next day and asked to speak to the advisors supervisor to find out what happened. The supervisor was SO RUDE and unprofessional. Besides YELLING at me and asking me what he should do to reprimand his employee, he also acted as if I was bothering him by coming to him with a concern. I would not go to a school where they treated prospective students so rudely. Shame on you medtech.

Ms. [redacted] began her tenure with Medtech College on 11/18/2013.
At the time of her enrollment, Ms. [redacted]’s financial aid and outstanding balance were explained to her in detail.  Her signature on the financial aid forms reflects her understanding of her monthly payment obligations toward a...

balance of $4,824.50.
Ms. [redacted] was spoken to multiple times throughout her tenure in an attempt to re-formulate a payment plan for her.   While Ms. [redacted] would initially agree to the payment plan, she was unable to fulfill her payment obligation.
Ms. [redacted] was withdrawn from her program 07/17/2004 after completing 45.50 credits.  Total payments received on the outstanding balance while attending the college is:  $95.00.    The remaining balance was turned over to collections.

Student claimed:
Ms. [redacted] explained what student grants, loans and scholarships would be applied for her. Medtech action and response:
Please see attached Exhibit 1. The award letter shows the amount of financial aid that Ms. [redacted] was eligible to receive based on her Free Application...

for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Exhibit 2, which shows the Federal Direct Student Loans that Ms. [redacted] authorized Medtech College to receive to pay towards her education cost. It is the responsibility of the student to apply for any potential scholarships. During the initial overview with Financial Aid each student is given a list of possible scholarships that they could be eligible to receive, Exhibit 3 is the list of scholarships that are given to students.
Student claimed:
Ms. [redacted] claimed she was never made aware of the total cost of the program and was uncertain how it was being funded.

Exhibit 4 is Ms. [redacted]' enrollment agreement which references, on page 2, that the applicant agrees to pay the charges set forth. During the time of enrollment cost is discussed between the student and the financial aid department and available for review in the student catalog.
In reference to how the cost of the program was to be funded is shown on the award letter, which is Exhibit 1.
Student claimed:
Ms. [redacted] stated that she was never told who funded her education, interest rate or terms of the
loan.
Medtech action and response:
The campus notifies the student during the time of disbursement and graduation of their rights and responsibilities. Exhibit 5 is Ms. [redacted]' entrance and exit counseling form which outlines these responsibilities. Rates and terms of student loans are are provided to the student as soon as they sign the promissory note. Although Ms. [redacted] received her award letters detailing her financial aid funding, we believe she may be referencing the payment plan agreement, Exhibit 6. Since her costs were greater that the amount of aid received, she was required to make monthly payments to the college. The promissory note agreement indicates the amount, rate, terms and that the funds are payable to Medtech college.
Student claimed:
Ms.  [redacted] claims there is no way to make the payments Medtech wants her to make and what amounts to roughly 30% interest. She future asserts that no calls were returned and therefore the account was turned over to the collection agency when payments were not due until November 2014.
Medtech action and response:
We have conducted an investigation and explored the validity of the allegation of not contacting the student. We do not show that we have received notification from Ms. [redacted] that she is requesting assistance from Medtech to lower her payments before 12/29/14. Prior to this complaint being received at that campus, Ms. [redacted] contacted the Financial Aid department to request consolidation of her private loans. At that time, it was explained that the student does not have a private loan but a payment plan with a 0.0% interest that has since been sent to an outside collection agency ([redacted]), due to lack of payment. The 30% that Ms. [redacted] is referencing has been verified and investigated. We are not certain where she gets this figure but we can confirm that she is not being charged from either from the school or
[redacted]. Ms. [redacted]' loans with the U. S. Department of Education is at a much lower rate which ranges from 3.0% - 6.5%. On 12/31/14, Ms. [redacted]' mother contacted the campus for an explanation and copy of her file, this is referenced in Exhibit 7. Our Finance team returns all communication within 24 hours of receiving the notification, this department holds this in high regard and ensures this is done for all students and parents. On January 5th, 2015 The Director of Finance spoke to Ms. [redacted] and she indicated that although she called the college, she did not leave a voice message.
Attached is exhibit 6. This shows the student having two payment plans. One payment plan that started April 2014 and the other payment plan to began on November 2014. The reason there are two payment plans is because Ms. [redacted] requested to have a lower payment while in school and once graduated her payment would increase in November. The payment plan that started in April was 7 payments of $150 and Ms. [redacted] only paid 4 payments, therefore she was past due of more than 60 days and sent to collections based on our policy.
Since receiving the complaint from Ms. [redacted], she contacted our finance department and we are in the process of working out a payment plan to suit her needs.
We hope this information is helpful in resolving Ms. [redacted]' issues. We welcome the opportunity to meet with Ms. [redacted] to explain our responses in person. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I may be reached at 317-534-0322 x[redacted].
Thank you so much for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
