We had our cat there for assessment and care. Upon discharge, which we initiated, he was in worse condition than he went in. They will argue that he is a "sick animal" but you can't argue with the fact that he is almost back to where he was to begin with. Much of his issues were treatable evidenced by significant improvement in this next nearly two weeks of hospitalization at a different vet. MedVet charges upfront $4000 to see your pet. They ended up charging my card additional money without my awareness. That is the only refund MedVet is currently offering. There are inaccurate documentation and missing documentation from his medical records which I finally obtained after several emails and phone calls. I have spoke with the hospital director and the medical director. There have been no taking of responsibility for the poor treatment of our pet nor will offer anything other than the money they charged without permission. Other issues: lack of communication, we had to reach out more often than not to find out the status of our pet, during 2-3 days while he was there his stats were within normal limits, but there was no offer or suggestion to bring him home. The main recommendation was putting him down, however, as I stated previously, he has improved a great deal and there are no signs he needs to be put to sleep. It seemed that the staff there began to treat us differently and rudely because we called several times to either check on our cat or to speak with management. While this is opinion, it seemed that because they thought he had some type of cancer (which was never confirmed), they did not care for him like he needed since they thought he was dying anyway. Due to their negligence, his diabetes was out of control, he stopped eating (which they did not fully inform of us and there is missing documentation of this), became dehydrated which led to other problem. There are negative Google and Yelp reviews about similar if not the same experiences we had with the facility

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Reimbursement for all services received at MedVet in addition to any cost of all hospitalizations thereafter and continued payment related issues he has had and will continue to have for awhile.

RE: complaint XXXXXXXX, Sarah J ***

To whom it may concern;

This letter is in response to the Revdex.com complaint filed by Sarah J *** on 02/26/2020 regarding the care of their pet cat, ***. First, I would like to begin by apologizing for the experience Ms. and Ms. had surrounding their visit with ***. *** had many complex medical issues which required intensive hospitalization, care and monitoring. Because of the complex nature of ***'s condition, a care plan outlining the anticipated course of treatment was presented to the family. This care plan consenting to a range of $4000-$5000 was signed by Jenn *** (see attached) and *** was hospitalized. Given a complex condition with unknown outcomes, it can be difficult to predict the exact dollar amount of care and ultimately, ***'s necessary medical care exceeded the original care plan amount. Out of empathy for the situation, we elected to refund the charges in excess of the original care plan in the amount of $1048.58 to Ms. and extended an offer to discuss any further concerns with the doctors involved in his case, our medical director and/or hospital director.

At Ms. request we provided full medical records for Simon's visit and made several attempts at further communication including:

A scheduled in person meeting, at Ms. request scheduled on 3/6/2020 at 3pm with the hospital director and medical director which she did not show up for or call to reschedule or cancel.
Unreturned call to Ms. on 2/21/2020 from Dr. Jennifer *** (Board Certified Criticalist) to answer any outstanding medical questions.
Unreturned call to Ms. on 2/21/2020 from the hospital director.
Medical director phone call to Ms. on 2/20/XXXX XXXp
Hospital director spoke to Ms. on 2/20/XXXX XXXXp
Unreturned call to Ms. on 2/20/XXXX XXXp from hospital director
Unreturned call to Ms. on 2/20/XXXX XXXam from hospital director
Hospital Director spoke with Ms. on 2/19/XXXX XXXpm
Hospital Director spoke to Ms. on 2/18/XXXX XXXpm
Additionally, Dr. Katherine *** (Board Certified Criticalist) called Ms. primary care veterinarian, Dr. *** on 1/30/2020 to discuss his condition and make recommendations around the continued care of Simon. We believe it was this collaboration around Simon's complex case that helped him. At this time we are unable to provide a refund or payment for services rendered at the primary care veterinarian's office. We understand that Simon is feeling better and doing well today which are very glad to hear.

Thank you,

Vanessa ***

Simon's condition was not complex but became that way due to inappropriate care overall by Med Vet staff. He had fluid that was taken out prior to getting there. His intake stats were not of concern. Simon was kept there several days without a discussion until we mentioned it, to bring him home to see how he does. Plural effusions can be treated by a regular vet, no hospitalization needed. He has diabetes which was NOT managed well which led to additional issues which have all been RESOLVED under care of another vet. Yes, we skipped the meeting because it would not have made one but of difference. I did not receive a call from Dr. M, she was to call the other pet owner so that miscommunication is not my fault. I wish I had pictures of before and after his stay there. It's sick how they didn't care for him, left him sicker, didn't often other treatments that were done by another vet which have been very helpful. The main suggestion: euthanize. The hospital director knows nothing about the case besides what she has read in the documents which are inconsistent. Next up is corporate.

They nearly killed my cat. There isn't anything they can say to make this ok.
