Meek's Towing and Exhaust Reviews (1)

Review: During extremely freezing weather the oil cooler hose had busted. I contacted Meeks and had the Jeep towed to them to have the car fixed. A few days later I was contacted and advised that the Jeep would need a new transmission because the Jeep would not move. I was advised it would be $1200 for parts and labor. My husband stated that only a hose needed to be fixed and that all the transmission fluid was emptied due to the hose having a hole in it. Meeks double checked and called us back stating that it would be $100 to fix the hose and $50 for the tow. On 2/3/2014 we went and picked up the Jeep. On 3/2/2014 we ran into the same problem the same hose that was busted was leaking again. I thought how could this be? I contacted Meeks and explained the problem. It had been less than 30 days and already having the same issue. He explained to me that they only patched the hose up and to fix the hose would cost $100 alone plus fees for labor. I began to call other companies to see how much it would cost for to patch a hose and I was shocked to find out most either charged a small fee of $20 or in some cases they would recommend to get a new one replaced and only charged $40-60 the cost of labor and the new hose. Meeks refused to fix the problem at all or issue me a refund. I ended up having another mechanic fix the problem for $40.00.Desired Settlement: I would like to have at least my $100 paid back to me considering that the hose was never fixed, nor was I made aware of the hose being patched up instead of completely fixed. I also look at the fact it was less than 30 days from the date it was fixed when the hose began to leak again.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I do not accept the offer because as you can tell there was no offer being made. Once again I look at the fact that I was charged $100 for a hose to be replaced and fixed but instead the problem was originally handled in the form of patching the hose up. Upon me having another mechanic to look at the car, he noticed that it was only a small hose that cost $8.99 for the replacement. He also only charged us $40.00 for the parts and labor. I did not look into going to a different mechanic until after I first called Meeks and was advised that they charged me a $100 to patch up a hose in the line and if I wanted to have the whole line replaced that it would be $100 alone for just a new line. No time during the conversation was an offer made to fix the problem. I told my husband about the issue. He called Meeks back and tried to get it resolved. My husband explained the issue again and told Meeks that we paid $50 for towing and $100 to get the problem fixed, because when he contacted them from the beginning he was advised that it would be $100 to have the problem fixed. Meeks, explained again that it would be $100 alone not including labor to have a new line put in. But the $100 we were charged was for the patching of the hose, transmission fluid, and labor. Once again there was no offer made about fixing the problem at all during either one of the phone calls. That was when I decided to have another mechanic look at it and even he stated that we were being overcharged for the repair that was temporarily made. That was when I decided to contact the Revdex.com. A few days later Meeks did call stating that they wanted to fix the problem but the problem has already been fixed by a different mechanic. Therefore, all I am asking for is my money back in the form of $100.00 because had Meeks took the time to resolve the issue from start then I would not had to seek another mechanic and this complaint would not been filed to begin with.
