It is apparent that you cannot trust this company to charge you a fair price when you are on a variable plan. I had a neighbor once tell me that he had been gouged by them, but that had not been my experience until now. I was charged a totally unfair price that was more than 66% higher than their biggest competitor was charging on the same day. In response to my complaint they offered me an overpriced contract for the upcoming year.

+1

My contract with Meenan to service my fuel oil system, to include filling the tank expired on 10//19. On 11//19, I called Meenan and the prompt said this call is recorded. The call lasted for 6 min and 3 seconds starting at 10:32am - if they would like to check the call logs and listen to the recorded conversation? I asked them about waiving the contract fee as a condition for me to renew, which they could not do. I also asked about about ceiling and fixed pricing, was quoted 3.569 and 3.369 respectively, and shared that neither of those were competitive enough. I had already priced a delivery for $2.38 per gallon through CODfuel.com. I asked the Mennan rep to confirm they would not deliver anymore and she said that is correct. On Nov ***, a delivery was made to my home by Meenan for 58.3 gallons at $4.199/gallon. I have since spent the last week calling them multiple times to try and resolve. On at least 6 attempts, I always get that the rep can't address the issue and that I need to speak to Lisa, her manager. Lisa is always in meetings, always. So today, 1//19, 3 weeks after they confirmed they would not deliver anymore, the rep offers me a $.50 / gallon mark down. I said that's not acceptable, I will be happy to do what I have shared on the last 6 calls. Pay you $2,38 per gallon or you come pump the 58 gallons back out of my tank. I then asked to speak to her manager...who was in a meeting. Fine, let me speak to her manager...she is also in a meeting. At this point, I am filing the formal complaint and will also follow up with the State Attorney's General Office who are happy to help in these situations too. 3 weeks chasing something that is their fault, all the while still calling me and hounding me about being past due on my service contract renewal. That's because I am not renewing!!

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely

This company treats you like gold until you sign a contract, then we get treated like dirt when help is needed or your contract is up for renewal. Annual maintenance appointments promised upon start of the contract are postponed multiple times with excuses varying by season: “It’s summer. We don’t have enough technicians.” “It’s fall. We have too many new customers. Call back in a month.” “It’s winter. We have too many service calls due to the cold weather.” I made a call to customer service to request a copy of my annual billing statement in order to compare charges to actual delivery bills and was treated by a rep named Marcus with suspicion, changing the subject and ignoring my request. I asked for a call back from Lisa, the customer service manager, and he advised me that she was on vacation and would also be on vacation for the three future dates I asked about. He proceeded to notify me that they would continue to make deliveries even after my contract expired and would likely pay a higher rate, implying that if I didn’t renew right away I was still obligated to accept deliveries but I could not cancel service until AFTER the contract date had passed. Making implied threats to a paying customer is not an acceptable way to do business.

BE CARRE FULL EVERYONE.

This is my 2nd year with Meenan Oil, and probably my LAST. While their service was fine, and oil was always delivered when scheduled, their price was that of THEIVES. I agreed to a one year contract which capped the oil price at $3.83 per gallon. I was told that I would be charge the then current rate, or the cap if it went over. LIES! they always charged the cap, even when oil was less then $2.50 per gallon. When I called to complained they would apologize and fix it. What if you didn't call which is what their counting on. They total misrepresent their plan. AND if you want to break their plan, a penalty of $399 is imposed.

Hello Mr.- we are very sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction and would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Meenan prides itself on delivering the best customer service possible and our customers are always our #1 priority. We would like the opportunity to discuss your concerns with you. Please reach out to our Customer Service Manager, Ann, at 516.783.1000. Thank you very much. Best regards, Meenan

got a delivery from meenan on jan 3rd for 2.55 a gallon, on feb fourth it was priced at 2.95, the increase of 45 cents is absurd and I asked the rep how much they are charging customers who don't have a cap and was told 3.65 cents. this is a rip off as a price of a barrel is low. this company is screwing its customers, look else where for oil

On Feb. 27, 2018 I had an oil delivery my driver was Rob. St. John. After he finished he rang my doorbell to tell me he smelled gas. He said it was a very faint smell and that I should call my propane company. He said he would want someone to let him know if it happen to him. Once he left I called my propane company and they sent someone over right away. It turns out he was right there were two very small wires on the side of my house that were coming apart and it was a very small leak but if it was not corrected it could have been worse!! Meenan has awarded him properly for his outstanding work. They are very lucky to have him as an employee!!

I have used Meenan for over 35 years. The past few years, when the weather is frigid, I have run out of oil, even though I am on their automatic delivery. When I called Meenan @ 5:30 am on 1/8, After being on hold for almost an hour, I was told that I was on the delivery schedule for that day. Since I had already run out of oil, they needed to send a tech to clear the line to the furnace and restart it. At 3:00 pm, the tech added 10 gal of oil and restarted the system. I called Meenan again at 4:00 pm to confirm I was getting the delivery that day and they assured me, actually guaranteed that I was getting the delivery. I called again at 7:00 pm and was told the deliveries were done for the day and I would get it the next day. After voicing my dissatisfaction, I explained to them that 10 gals would not last through the night as the house is a 100 year old, 3 story, 13 room house. I told them they need to send a tech to add an additional 10 gals. Needless to say, no oil again this morning. There was a time I would have given them a 4 or 5 rating. Now it's a 1 for their continuous lies.

With this extreme, extended period of frigid temperatures we have received an unprecedented amount of telephone traffic. The weather predictions and media coverage for a ‘bomb cyclone snow blizzard’ in our area created a panic and increased our call volume substantially with both customers and non-customers alike.
The hazardous road conditions and closures also impacted our ability to properly serve our customers. While a small percentage of our customers have been negatively impacted by this event, even one customer that we let down is unacceptable to us. And to those customers, we apologize and will do everything in our power to win back your trust. We are doing everything we can to rectify matters as quickly as possible -- and the forecast for warmer temperatures in the coming week is a welcome addition.
Thank you to all of our customers for their patience, understanding, and notes of appreciation to our employees. And thank you to all of our employees who are working tirelessly and going above and beyond the call of duty.

While Meenan contends the extra volume due to the extreme cold is why they were unable to fulfill their commitments, I must state the following:
1) I have a contract with Meenan for automatic delivery. They, in effect, are to ensure I do not run out of oil, which I did. Extreme cold or not, Meenan failed in their obligation.
2) When I called Meenan several times on Jan 8, they assured me my delivery WAS scheduled for that day. They lied.
3) A service tech arrived late afternoon to drop 10 gallons of oil in my tank and restart my furnace. He was told that 10 gals would NOT last through the night as the house is a 100 year old, 3 story 13 room house. He did not supply any additional oil.
4) I called Meenan at 7:00 PM that evening to advise them that I would need a tech to drop off more oil since the 10 gals would not last and there were no more deliveries that night. I was told they would do that. They lied.
5) I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager and was told they had all left for the night. They would have them call me back. They lied.
6) Jan 9, I called Meenan to advise them I had no oil. They again told me it was being delivered that day. It did finally come late afternoon.
7) I asked again to speak to a supervisor/manager and was told they were all on the phone. They said they would have one call me back. They lied.
8) A tech showed up after 4:00 PM to restart my furnace.
Meenan's empty excuses and apologies do not make up for their lies and lack of followup.

We have a contract with Meenan for both service and oil deliveries. I called Meenan on January 7th around 1:30 in the afternoon to report no heat, the oil burner is not turning on at all. After waiting about 45 minutes for a rep, I was told they are backed up and tech will be out between today and 12pm January 8th. I took off from work, called a few times throughout the day, reps told me a tech will definitely be out today. It's now 9:30pm on January 8th, no tech, no call from Meenan.

My elderly parents ran out of oil despite the fact that they were on automatic delivery. Then, they put some diesel in to get through the night, and the oil burner wouldn't start. When they called the 24/7 customer service number, they only got a busy signal for 4 hours before they gave up calling. It was 13 degrees that night. Terrible company, dishonest.

Also, I have a contract with them in which I had a variable plan in which I would receive oil for the market price. I received oil for 3.49 a gallon for 150 gallons. When compared to 6 other oil companies, they were 70 cents higher than everyone else. In addition, I called them later that day asking for a one time cash price for 150 gallons, and I was quoted 2.89. So if their market price for someone thats not a customer is 2.89, why am I being charged 3.49? Sounds like fraudulent business practices. Scam.
