Mee's Moving & Storage, Inc. Reviews (4)

Review: On 12/19/13 Mees Moving & Storage loaded my household items to relocate from Lincoln, CA to Meridian ID. I was quoted $4811.87 for 10,000 lbs, including bed cartons and insurance. I also paid $1000 to transport my 2007 Sea Ray 195 Sport ski boat from Lincoln, CA to Meridian, ID, with full coverage insurance. The total bill should have been $5811.87. I was billed $6008.97, and was never given any official weight tickets for our goods. William Mee indicated the weight went over and that was the additional charge, which in fact I added the inventor items with an over estimated weight and came up with a weight of 7900 lbs. in addition my boat gel coat was damaged and I have not been provided any resolution. Mr. Mee contracted All American Transport to move the boat, and they indicate they aren't responsible for the damage to my boat gel coat on the aft lower RH corner of the boat. I paid for full coverage insurance and expect resolution free of charge since I've already paid for insurance.Desired Settlement: I would like a copy of the certified weight tickets with date and time stamps. I also request a refund of $197.10 for the difference in quoted to billing price, and I'm requesting my boat gel coat damage be properly repaired at the expense of Mees Moving do to the fact I paid for full coverage insurance.

Response:

Good Morning,

I have reviewed the file

for [redacted]'s move. The official weight per the attached weight

ticket is 10,900lbs. Mr. [redacted] was not overcharged and to my knowledge

never requested the weight tickets from our office which we would have been

happy to provide. Mr. [redacted]'s employer Westerns Aircraft, paid the

invoice without any question. Mr. [redacted] was billed properly for the

weight that was shipped and no refund will be granted.

Mr. [redacted]'s

alleged boat damage is currently being administered by the hauler(All

American Transport) with witch Mr. [redacted] gave authority to

transport his boat. The boat does NOT fall under the house hold good's coverage

on Mee Moving's/Allied Van Line's bill of lading. All

American Transport preformed an extensive review of the claim and

determined by reviewing pictures of the alleged damage and talking to the Mr.

Coleman that the damage was pre-existing and could NOT have happened during the

transport. Furthermore, All American Transport is rejecting this false claim by

the customer and is willing to present all the evidence to prove their

position. Any further action regarding this boat claim should be taken up with

All American Transport not Mee's Moving & Storage.

Please let me know if I

can provide any more information regarding this claim.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I'm requesting the weight slips with time and date stamps to indicate when the truck was weighed. Western Aircraft has since removed Mees Moving & Storage from their approved vendor list!

Sincerely,

Review: Paid $8100 to them to move our stuff from [redacted] They paid for damages to the items we received of $60.00 but refuse to pay us any damages for the 2 boxes they lost. The claims analyst [redacted] says we have no proof and has refused to return or take my calls. I have the check in sheet the driver had me fill out with the 2 box numbers, [redacted] and [redacted], that are circled to signify we did not receive them. The driver tried to leave several items that were not ours. [redacted] made no effort to try to track these boxes and totally blew off our claim form where we listed the items that are lost. One box was all my husband dress clothes including suits, dress shirts/ties, & leather vests. The other was fishing line, lure making tools & supplies. The driver acknowledged these 2 boxes were missing & had me sign a form stating that fact that he kept for his records. Mees Sublette this job out to [redacted] from Mees has not taken my calls nor will she return them.Desired Settlement: As per our claim form, I want the value of what we lost $745. As it is impossible to remember every single item you back in a box, we did the best we could & itemized it for them.

Response:

Good Moring,

After looking into this matter and talking with Allied claims department Mrs. [redacted] will be paid out at 60 cents per pound for the weight of two boxes that are missing. [redacted] will sending correspondence directly to the Mrs. [redacted] confirming this. Mrs. [redacted] selected 60 cents per pound as her coverage I will be happy to forward the signed contracts. I do apologize for any communication problems the customer experienced with the [redacted] Claims department and I have forwarded Mrs. [redacted] complaints to the appropriate manager. I have also talked with [redacted] who was unaware of the numerous phone calls that were missed. I know [redacted] has spoken with Mrs. [redacted] and there is now a direct line of communication. Thank you for letting us respond to the matter. Please let me know if any additional information is required.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Based on my real estate agent’s recommendation and after interview several moving companies I hired Mee’s to facilitate my move from [redacted] to my new [redacted] address. The distance is 9-10 miles depending upon the route taken. While the amount I was quoted wasn’t the least expensive, (it was just under $1,000), I felt comfortable after talking to their representative [redacted] in hiring them.

The moving date was set for July 1, 2015. It was to include 3 movers and one large truck. It was scheduled to begin between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. The quote given to me included a gasoline charge as well as the truck and men.

On the day of the move the crew was still not there at 9:50a.m. When I called I was told that they were close and would be there soon. When they arrived it was only two men and on rather small, by moving standards, rental truck. I was told the third man would be there in about an hour and we would also bring a second truck. Due to the time of year they were busy and other trucks needed to be employed.

In preparation for the move I had packed my entire house up and had marked the boxes on the top and side with the location they were to be placed. Those locations were: garage, small garage, kitchen, master bedroom, B-1, B-2, and B-3.

When the third mover arrived the truck he bought was very small, he went out of his way to not work and while the two original movers had completely packed everything in the garage and some of the house it took the three of them a considerable amount of time to finish packing what was waiting inside. As we left for my new residence I noticed that the larger truck was packed solid front to back and top and the 2nd truck was haphazardly filled with miscellaneous items. The lead mover informed me they were running behibd and that it would cost me more than quoted. I responded by saying I was upset by both the lack of 3 movers from the get go and the 3rd movers lack of work ethic. He stated he agreed and would call is dispatcher on the way to the new house.

Upon arriving at the new house I showed the lead mover were the different locations were and put sticky notes on the doors indicating master bedroom, B-1, B-2 and B-3. He informed me that the dispatcher said they would honor my quote.

At one point I looked in on B-3 to find the lead mover putting together a 5 piece desk I have. There was a piece if it roughly 3 plus feet long and about 2 inches square with grooves on tow side’s as well two places where metal screw receptors were located. When I mentioned the piece to him he said that he couldn’t see where it went in and that he didn’t think I needed it anyway. I let it go because by this time I just wanted them out of my house and thought I would have my son in law put it in.

When I was presented the bill it was for $1,053. I guessed they thought the estimate didn’t include the gas amount. Rather than argue about it I just paid it and was happy to see them leave.

The next day I went to my old house to clean. I was sick with what I saw. My third bedroom that I used to watch TV and as an office area has a door that was scraped and scuffed, a door frame with a chunk about 1 inch square and ½ inch deep knocked out and one wall with a 3 foot scrape that went all the way down to the plasterboard. It took me two days to repair everything AND repaint the wall. I am going to guess that the excuse for these incidents is small room, large furniture, tight quarters. However, that same furniture was moved in and out when I purchased it and again when I got new carpeting without anything happening.

Back at the new home front there was more ineptitude was well as more damage found. The majority of boxes were not in the right location and that frequently meant they were outside in the small garage instead of inside. The vast majority of the boxes were upside down. This actually required setting the boxes down on the marked top. Because opening in an upside down manner would have resulted in items not being situation properly for unpacking I had to turn the boxes upside right and carry them to the proper destination. Being 69 years old with a torn right arm ligament this was difficult and painful.

While furniture was being carried in I noticed that a bedroom night had a dent. I mentioned it to the lead mover who said it couldn’t have been them. However, I have had specialty made glass tops on all three pieces of my bedroom furniture since the day I purchased them and the dent was in fact new.

Here is a list of broken/marred furniture: dining room chair, bedroom nightstand-highboy and long dressers as well as the headboard, and even a garden hose storage box. These items are in addition to the damage done to my desk which includes marks, missing pieces and worse of all two pieces approximately 4’x1 ½ broken off.

I did telephone the owner [redacted] and told him of the above. He was the most concerned and upset about the worker that didn’t so much. In all fairness he offered to have someone come move the boxes for me and a furniture man to look at the dented and marred furniture. This was prior to discovering the two broken chunks of wood and I was almost done with unpacking so I said no thanks. When I discovered how broken my desk was I wrote a letter and enclosed one of the broken pieces so he could see how extensively the desk was broken. In that letter I asked him more than once if you were the customer how would you want this rectified. I honestly thought he would do the right thing. I never heard from him.

I have moved more than once in my 69 years. Sometimes by myself, sometimes with the help of friends and sometimes with professional movers. I have never had an experience or damage as bad as this. My expectation at this is that they refund me my money. It honestly doesn’t even cover damage done or stress caused but it is honorable.Desired Settlement: My expectation at this is that they refund me my money. It honestly doesn’t even cover damage done or stress caused but it is honorable.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: This letter is to address the many concerns I have regarding the recent move that was provided by the local franchise of Allied Moving and Storage, MEE's Moving & Storage, Inc. located at [redacted] Copies of this letter are being sent to the headquarters of Allied Moving & Storage in [redacted], Mee's MOving & Storage, and the Office of the Attorney General.

My husband and I contacted two moving companies, including MEE's Moving & Storage, to get an estimate for a move. We planned on moving out of our 3300 square foot home in Folsom to a 1750 square foot home in nearby Roseville. My husband and I are in our late 80's and were going to be relying heavily on the assistance of whatever moving company we decided to go with. A gentelman name [redacted] from MEE's came to our home and provided what we thought was a reasonable estimate for the move. On Friday August 14th two packers from MEE's arrived to do some pre-packing of items for us. Since we were not going to be having any items held in storage, the packers were there to pack items that would be moved directly to the new address on the following day. We were advised that the pictures (of which we have many, some of which are quite valuable) did not require any special packing since they would be moved the following day with all of the other items in the home. The cost for the two gentleman to come out on the 14th was $847.29. We were also advised that any food that was in either of our refrigerator/freezers did not have to be removed.

The movers arrived on time on the morning of August 15th and began to load the truck. Here is a rundown of some of our chief complaints regarding the move:

- One of the sofas was moved, but a few cushions were left behind.

- All of the lamps were moved, but a few of the lamp shades were left behind.

- The movers were informed (both verbally and by pointing) to leave behind the attachments for the home's Central Vacuuming System, yet they packed it anyway and moved it to the new home. A special trip had to be made by us to return those items to the new owners of the old home.

- Another item that was mentioned to the movers that should be staying at the hold home was a box containing rolls of wallpaper. They ended up packing it as well and bringing it to the new home.

- When packing items from a hall closet, they packed half of the closet and left half of the items in the closet behind.

- Many items were left behind in closets or in hallways.

- Numerous pictures were left behind in the main hallway.

- A framed mirror and at least one picture were left leaning against a wall in the garage.

- Many items were left behind from the backyard including a 50 lb. birdbath, a 45 gallon rubber garbage can containing numerous gardening tools (shovels, hoes, pitch fork, etc.).

- A storage shed that was left open was completely ignored with none of its contents packed and moved.

[redacted] from MEE's said that a walkthrough of the old home would take place prior to the truck pulling out, but that never occured. I proceeded to the new home to let the movers in at which time I signed the contract completely unaware of what was left behind at the old home. Upon my return to the old home I was completely flabbergasted to find the many, many items that the movers had left behind. Some of my (old) neighbors were there at the time I came back to the home and were also shocked at the amount of items that were left behind. On the following day I had to hire a handy man with a truck to load some of the items to move to the new home. In addition, my son and daughter-in-law had to fill their vehicle to the bring with items left behind by Mee's.

Upon arriving back at the new home, it was discovered that the movers left a filing cabinet on the side of the house and had not mentioned a word of it to me at all. This filing cabinet contained extremely important documents many of whic are irreplaceable. Also, the movers failed to plug in the refrigerator/freezer which was not noticed for a few days. This results in the loss of nearly $150 of food.

Due to new carpet and flooring being installed at the new home, MEE's placed our belongings in the garage, then on September 2nd a second moving company was hired to move the items from the garage into the home. It was then that it was discovered that MEE's had broken one of the glass doors of a hutch. The way the glass door was positioned indicated that it was quite obvious the MEE's movers were very aware that they had broken the glass. Another item broken by MEE's movers was an outdoor standup patio lamp.

The day following the move I called MEE's to complain about what had happened. Plus it was mentioned in that phone conversation that the 2nd truck was only half full. On both 16th and the 17th of August I called MEE's and spoke to [redacted] and explained to him everything that had taken place, and that we had plenty of photos taken of the items left behind and witness who would validate our claim. He said he would look into the matter and call me back. [redacted] failed to call me back so I called and spoke to [redacted] (from Allied) on August 20th and explained to him what had taken place. [redacted] promised me a call back by noon on August 21st and he also failed to call me back. A few days had gone by and I decided to call him back on the 24th. [redacted] stated that he checked with the movers and they were hired to do. Truth be told, there wasn't even one walk through, let alone two. My complaints were reiterated to [redacted] at that time, and I told him that I had no trouble going face to face with the person who was making such a claim. [redacted] was also advised that we had pictures of the items left behind and witnesses willing to collaborate our claims, and he said that in regards to the pictures and witnesses "that won't hold up in court". After relaying this information to one of my sons, [redacted], on August 26th, he immediately took time off work to call [redacted] stated to my son that the movers were contracted by the hour and not the job, which completely contradicts the written contract for the move. He went on to state that he would look into the matter and promised him a callback but never did. My son waited a few days and called [redacted] again to express how upsetting this turn of events had bee and stated that a full refund would be in order to avoid any further phone calls, lawsuits, or bad publicity. [redacted] then promised another callback which never happened.

Desired Settlement: This move had caused me so much stress that it became apparent to my husband the amount of stress that was created by MEE's. Although my husband had been in failing health in recent times, I feel that the way were both treated by MEE's may have indirectly led to his passing on October 11th.

Pictures of the items wleft behind and of those broken by MEE's, plus names of witness will be made available upon request.

Good Afternoon, We value our relationship with the Revdex.com and our A+ rating we maintain. In respects to this move the customer was billed based on the exact work Mee Moving performed. I have attached the bill of lading which was signed at the beginning and the end of move by [redacted]. I also have signed credit card receipts that can be provided. To date the customer has not filed a claim with our company. We will be happy to provide a claim form which can be filled out for any damage that occurred during the move. Unfortunately, Mrs. has decided to pursue a chargeback with her credit card and we need to wait and see what is decided in that respect in order to pursue a solution with respect to this complaint. It is my sincere intent to come to seek an amicable solution to this complaint and will be happy to talk to Mrs. [redacted] or her representative directly. My number is [redacted].Sincerely, [redacted]

Response:

As per your letter of 12-02-15 regarding [redacted] comment that is their “sincere entent to come to an amicable solution to this complaint and be happy to talk with Mrs. [redacted] or her represtative directly” I would like to make the following comments.1. Mees did not complete or sufficiently provide the service as promised.2. I did sign the lading and credit card charge at the new house bat was not aware of the uncompleted move credit I returned to the old house.3. 08-16-15 I phoned Mee’s and left a message regarding problems and on 08-17-15 spoke with [redacted] and he said he would work on it and take care of the problem.4. 08-18-15 called [redacted] left a message to call NO RESPONSE.5. 08-20-15 called [redacted] at [redacted] and he said he would call tomorrow noon. NO RESPONSE.6. 08-24-15 at 9:30 am. Called [redacted] and he advised me he would call back by4:00 that afternoon. NO CALL.7. 08-26-15 my son called [redacted] and was advised they would refund $150.00. My son said that wouldn’t fly. (That wouldn’t ever cover the expenses I had on 08-16-15 to have someone with a package to move items left behind, the frozen food I lost due to the advise of one of the packers and/or the broken glass door to my hatch. He told my son that they did two walk thrus. This is a lie, they did not do any.As you can see Mee’s and [redacted] have not put a good faith effort to resolve this situation. I believe that thought as my husband & me are in our late 80’s that they could us and we would get tired and fade away. My husband passed away 10-11-15 but I have no intention of going away. If they wanted to settle this matter they could have called me. They have my number. Thank you would your attention and I really appreciate your help.Sincerely[redacted]
