Review: The other complaint is "The services resulted in additional damages".

I want to start off saying how disappointed I was with the service that I received from MegaMovingService. This was my first experience with using a moving company and it was based off of a referral from a close friend who had just used their services around April of this year.

First, I had an appointment time scheduled for 1-3 pm for 3 movers and on truck. The drivers did not show up at 1 as expected, they didn't even call initially to say that they were running late. I called at 1:30 pm when they did not show up to find out what was going on and what time I could expect the at my residence. After the call, I was given a time of 3-4. Then around 2:30 I received another call stating that they would be arriving around 4 or 5 because the morning move had went longer than anticipated. They arrived around 5 pm (actually a little after 5 pm).

Second, the move took six hours which I think was ridiculous as I only had a three bedroom apt to move from. The person that referred you to me moved a 4 bdrm, three story house and the move was completed in 4 hours along with a little problem with getting her bed in the house. There is no way that my move should have taken six hours. The excuse/reson that I was given was that they were a little tired from the prevous move and that they took a few short breaks. I should not have to pay for them being tired. If the previous move took longer than expected than I should have been offered a fresh crew or a new move date and time.

Third, I was charged a 6% fuel tax that was not mentioned in the quote of my confirmation letter. Even when I asked about the travel charge prior to confirming the move this was not mentioned. This was an unexpected charge that I don't think anyone should have to deal with at the last minute. Let people know up front so they know what to expect.

Forth, the agreement stated that this contract included diassembly and reassembly of items. The only thing that I needed was for things to be reassembled once delivered but that did not happen because of the time that the move was completed which was around 10:45 pm.

Lastly, my ottoman and sofa was ripped and/or cut in the move process.

Above is the email sent to MegaMovers on 06/12/13. Also, today 6/13/13 I received the email below and included my response as well:

As mentioned yesterday on our phone conversation, your movers packed/moved my furniture (ottoman, sofas, beds, etc.). Please do not keep stating that I am trying to get you to cover something that was not your companies/movers fault. If this continues, I will have no choice burro get my lawyers involved.

In our contract it does not say that my workers packed anything they just moved your items into the truck and into your destination, when we talked yesturday you told me that chris gave you 2 options to move in the morning or the afternoon, you chose in the afternoon so you would have time to pack all your items, you refused to not pay extra for packing so we are not responsible for any damages as our General aggrement says.

Review: I received a binding agreement of billing charges from the company in preparation for my move from [redacted], VA to [redacted], CA. After they loaded my belongings to the truck, they told me I would need to pay more than $1300 more than the original amount I agreed to pay. The company told me if I reported them to local law enforcement, they would take longer than initially agreed to deliver my goods to [redacted]. My property was delivered on time, but only after I paid the additional costs.Desired Settlement: I would like the amount I overpayed to be refunded to me.
