Meineke #2533 Reviews (%countItem)

My vehicle was left in an unsafe condition upon completion of the services performed by this provider, and improperly performed.
I went to this location for a routine wheel alignment even though it was handling perfectly, but because I had done some repairs recently I wanted to make sure it was in alignment where it should be. I asked how long it should take when I took it in, and was told 45 minutes to an hour. As I waited, I happened to be sitting next to a window along the repair area. As they brought my car in and began the process, they would run it up and then down and then up and then down and then take it out and then bring it back in and hook it back up. One trip taking it out off of the ramp as they had it halfway off, there was an awful racket of noise as though something either got ran over or something. After stopping and looking around for awhile, they continued backing the car off of the ramp and test driving it, only to return again, and hooking it back up again and changing personnel, and going through things again. It was quite obvious to me by then that they were having trouble, so when they finally said it was ready, I mentioned that they must have had some issues with something. they were already saying that somebody had done some work on the car, and they were having trouble with the alignment, because of the brakes pulling making them think that the front end was off. I didn't think too much off it at the time because the brakes weren't pulling when I brought it in, so I left and drove home. Much to my surprise, on the way home, the brakes were definitely pulling all over the place, and the steering was also pulling all over the place. When you started turning the wheel, it would just keep pulling. You would literally have to pull it back to get it to come back around. The car was unsafe to drive. I finally took the car to another business and had it corrected in order to be driven. They were amazed at how far off the measurements were.

Desired Outcome

Since i paid by credit card, i have filed for a refund through the credit card company. if that process goes through, i will get a refund through the credit card company and they will collect from this provider.

Meineke #2533 Response

We found out he did a "charge back" on his credit card. We called him but no answer . We were going to verify his issues at another shop and re- alignment at no cost to him and give him a refund for initial alignment if that was the case

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
After replacing the upper control arms on the vehicle, although it didn't feel necessary, the book recommends having the front end realigned. There was some tire wear, which was from the control arm wear causing the wheel to sit at an angle. Consequently I had the tires rotated.
I have to believe that somebody jumped to conclusions that the alignment was way off, and they worked on the vehicle for close to 4 hours, aligning it three times, running it in and out several times, and changing technicians. When I brought the car in, it was driving like a new car, having done a complete brake job, and then the upper control arms. When I drove it home, I didn't even recognize the vehicle. The steering was a complete disaster. I called Meinke to express my concerns, and unlike most businesses would treat a customer, they were all over me about what ( they said ) I had done to the vehicle.
Anytime I have ever gone somewhere to have something done, if there was something too
worn or out of wack, they would just let you know that they couldn't work on it until things were corrected.

I was so uncomfortable with the attitudes and unprofessionalism of the personnel at that business that I wouldn't feel comfortable returning there even for a re-alignment. I took it to a second shop, for a re- alignment because it was undriveable the way it was. After driving it since, I still haven't been completely satisfied with the condition of the vehicle, so I ended up taking it to the dealership this week and they did a re-alignment and got things back to where they are supposed to be. Now it is working normal.
