Apologies for this mis-understandingAlthough on this particular vehicle an alignment is not required after replacing struts it is only recommended, we will re-align the vehicle at no charge until December 31, even if someone else installs new struts

My statement was full of facts that were completely ignored by the Meineke representative, and his suggestion that nothing happened at the shop doesn't align with the facts. Allow me to simplify:
1. My car had no signs or symptoms of an oil leak prior to visiting the facility.
2. My car left the facility profusely leaking fresh oil.
3. The oil splash pattern looked like  the car was started with the oil cap off.
4. The facility was trying to charge us an outrageous rate to have it fixed. ($500)
Those are facts. Any interpretation of those facts might be speculative, but the facts stand on their own. I haven't seen the video footage.  In fact, I would not feel particularly comfortable setting up an appointment with an organization after I had just exposed information that suggests dishonesty and potential fraud. Furthermore, it is entirely possible that something happened that wasn't visible from the camera (outside the garage, a person under the hood in between the car and the camera, etc...). Whatever happened, be it accidental or intentional, could have happened very quickly and may have been impossible to see from the video footage.
What doesn't add up is that my car didn't have a leak and then "all of the sudden" it had a leak. A car doesn't just "all of the sudden" spring a leak. I am not a mechanic, but I have spoken with a number of people who have all agreed that it is highly improbable for my car to have had a profuse leak without noticing either: 1. the oil light, 2. the smell of oil, 3. the engine overheating or smoking, or 4. oil dripping under the vehicle.
In this situation, I'm lucky, but it is alarming to me that I could have been swindled for $500. Think about how would you feel if you been in my shoes and ended up paying the $500. 
To make matters worse, my encounters with their customer support has been condescending and less than caring. In one conversation, I was abruptly told, "We're in the business of making money". This is not primarily about the $74 I would like refunded, but far more about the principle of honest business practices. At the very least, Meineke could have shown some concern for the "suspiciousness" of this whole situation.
