Meineke Econo Lube #4326 Reviews (6)

We have inspected this Chevrolet Beretta with 151,miles several times going back to 2012. The oil leaks on this car are not new oil leaks and have developed over time as they do on any car of this ageThis is required maintenanceThe car is is in very good condition for its
age but there are some other maintenance items the car also needsThe hoses are very soft due to their age, the throttle body is leaking. We have looked at the car multiple times to make sure the oil filter was not leaking and have provided estimates for repairing the other oil leaksThe oil filter was sealed on the last visit although we did discuss with the customer that the oil filter adapter may have to be replaced at some point.Thank You*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Customer had recently purchased vehicle, and needed inspection for loose front end/steering. Inspection revealed vehicle needed entire front end rebuilt. Customer approved new wheel bearings/hub assemblies, upper and lower ball joints and steering gear box. Tech performed repairs, test drove vehicle...

before returning to customer, when vehicle left our possession it checked out ok.  Customer paid bill and took vehicle, brought vehicle back a few days later with a complaint of a 'shimmy' when going over bumps.Tech and asst. manager racked vehicle and rechecked work, all bolts tight, all parts installed were still functioning as intended. Test drove by 2 different techs and owner, could not duplicate customer concern as reported by customer. Recommended to replace steering stabilizer as a preventative maintenance item, as front end shimmy was not duplicated by tech. Customer declined at that time, took vehicle as-is without performing recommended follow up repair. On 5/15/15, Asst. manager ([redacted]) called to follow up with customer. Offered to re-inspect vehicle a second time and test drive with customer driving vehicle to duplicate customer complaint, in the manner of which he would normally drive vehicle. Location owner and head tech to personally be present for test drive. Customer amicable to this offer and will come in next week sometime to have inspection performed.-- --Meineke On Overland1630 S Hadley(Overland and Maple Grove)Boise, ID 83709208-377-4060

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:...

The car was serviced by Meineke in Boise.  I drove it to Puyallup, WA the next morning.  The transmission failed in WA.  I could not drive it back to Boise.  I had to replace the car.  [redacted] knows that.  This case has been turned over to an attorney after I received a notice from Revdex.com last week that stated there was no response from Meineke at that time.   The attorney has written a demand letter to Nationwide Ins. Co.   The attorney said Nationwide's reasons for denial is weak.   I'm now waiting for a response from Nationwide &/or [redacted] directly.Sincerely,[redacted]

This was turned over to my insurance company. The car was not local. I could not look at it. Customer took it to a dealership. I do not have resources to investigate so have turned this over to my insurance company.
Thanks

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does [redacted] resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Oil was never leaking on the garage floor. After the oil change, oil leaked on the floor. I took it back to Meinke. They said the oil filter did not seal and replaced the filter.  According to my 2 estimates there wasn't anything wrong with the oil filter or the oil filter adapter. (I'm glad I didn't let them talk me into buying a new one!) The oil was blowing the gasket from above, dripping down on the filter, because the oil was overfilled much too much. The engine runs on pressure and when the oil is overfilled like Meinke did, it forces gaskets to blow. That pressure needs to go somewhere. I took the car back several (4) times and Meinke never checked the oil levels! The oil leak got worse every week. I checked the oil levels and made Meinke drain more than 2 quarts before I took it to the Revdex.com accredited mechanics for an opinion and cost estimate to worse every week; leaving a bigger puddle on the garage floor.  Meinke likes to sell. The hoses aren't that old and the car has been meticulously maintained.  It's a classic. All the gaskets need to be replaced.  The $1,000.00 I'm asking for will not cover the job.  I think Meinke should be held responsible for at least half of the damage they caused.
