Meissner Sewing & Vacuum Centers Reviews (1)

Review: Brought in 2 pair of Singer scissors to be sharpened, 1 pair made in Germany, 2nd pair made in Beirut. Didn't return the same scissors I brought in.

On 8/8/2013, I brought in 2 pair of Singer scissors to be sharpened, one pair had imprinted in the metal, "Made in Germany" and the 2nd pair had imprinted in the metal, "Made in Beirut". The clerk wrote on the repair order receipt, "2 scissors", 7" Singer 8" Singer. I was told they would be ready in 7-10 days. On 8/23/2013, 15 days after bring them in, they called saying the scissors were ready for pick up.

On 8/24/2013 I picked up the scissors at Meissner's. I checked the scissor stamp imprints. Both pairs of scissors were "Made in Germany". Apparently one pair was not mine. I asked the clerk if the smaller scissors were 7" because they looked smaller than the ones I had brought in. She stated they had to be mine, because they take the scissors out of the bag, sharpened them and return them to the bag". I reiterated I had brought in one pair made in Beirut and one pair made in Germany, and these were both made in Germany. She repeated herself and said they were mine. I stated I guess I should have taken pictures of my scissors, but I know what I brought in, as I had examined them since they were inherited scissors. I asked if they would check for any scissors that were made in Beirut. She didn't comment. I paid and left. I didn't know what to do, since it was her word against mine, and she wasn't acknowledging that they were any issues.

After further consideration, I called Meissner and spoke to the same clerk. I asked her to check for a pair of scissors Made in Beirut, as I verified that I was 100% positive that is what I brought in for sharpening. I also told her I measured the smaller scissors she had returned to me and they were 6", not 7" as noted on the receipt. The clerk said she just wrote 7" Singer and 8" Singer "because that is what most scissors are". She repeated that the scissors are taken out of the bag, and put right back in. I stated maybe someone got confused or had a bad day and was not paying attention.

During the conversation, the clerk twice said my scissors were from [redacted] The first time I corrected her and told her they were Singers. She didn't' respond. The second time when she said they were [redacted] I corrected her again and she stated I was wrong, they were [redacted] scissors and that is what she wrote down! I informed her the scissors have Singer imprinted on them and she had even written Singer on the receipt. The scissors I brought in and the scissors returned were definitely not [redacted] scissors. She said I "should be happy that I have 2 pair of scissors back". I was floored. I responded to her, "you are saying if a customer brings in two pair of their own scissors, they shouldn't expect to get the same 2 pair of scissors back?" She responded by saying, "that's not what I meant". I told her that as a customer, I expect to receive the same items I bring in to be the same ones I get back and that didn't happen. She kept telling me I did. We were not getting anywhere. I said I plan to file a complaint with the Revdex.com and post a review on Yelp because this was not acceptable. She said that she would call their Sacramento store on Monday to see if they had the scissors.

Later in the day, I received a phone call back. She had called the Sacramento store and spoken to the manager (of Rocklin or Sacramento store I am not sure). They checked and didn't have any scissors Made in Beirut. I said maybe they were given to another customer. She stated they get very few scissors in for sharpening and they didn't have any right now. She said they have honest employees. I said I didn't get a pair of my scissors back, so either someone mixed up the scissors, or it sounds like your company has an integrity issue. As a customer, I appreciate you sharpening my scissors, but I didn't get the same ones back. I will be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com and posting a "buyer beware" review on Yelp. The clerk said, "do you want me to spell my name?" That ended the conversation. Desired Settlement: I would like to have my Singer "made in Beirut" scissors. It that isn't possible, then a pair of same quality Singer 7" scissors instead of the 6" scissors they returned to me.

Initial Business Response

Concerning the complaint from [redacted], as you know from [redacted] we never received this complaint. As soon as I got it from you on Monday I tried calling Ms [redacted] to resolve the situation, but all I got was an answering machine. I left her a message apologized for the entire situation and asked her to call me so we could come to some kind of resolution that would satisfy her. I also left her another message to call me this morning, as of this email I have not heard back from her. I want to resolve this situation for her, I have even offer to buy her new scissors to replace the one's she says we lost, but I cannot do anything if she does not return my call.
