No staff member at Meister Werks ever notified [redacted] * [redacted] that ceramic coating would not void the warrantyHis claims that he has this in writing are false There is no reason for Meister Werks to notify the customer that altering our product with a specific process such as ceramic coating and/or using it for a purpose it was not intended would void the warrantyThe customer never indicated he would be altering our product; had he done so we would have told him our product is not intended to be used in such a manner Meister Werks has never heard of any of our products being ceramic coated and have no idea what process this other company is using as there are varying methods to applying ceramic coating to wheelsWe are unfamiliar with the company [redacted] * [redacted] is referring to Powder coating in fact does NOT reject all chemicals and all forms of corrosionThis is a misrepresentation of how powder coat performsPowder coating does NOT repel all kinds of chemicalsPowder coat is a polyester based powderPolyester is not a compound that is stabled under every chemicalThinners such as brake cleaner will even compromise the powder coat finishMeister Werks provided a product and [redacted] * [redacted] accepted and approved of the finished product, with ample opportunity to inspectAfter altering our product at a different company, it no longer retained the same finishThis is not Meister Werks’ doingThe company that applied the ceramic coating should be contacted by [redacted] * [redacted] to correct this problem as they are the ones who applied the coating that resulted in altering the powder coatMeister Werks completed the work as promised and our finished product was altered in an unknown way by another company

Unfortunately, Meister Werks ensured *** was aware that there was no guarantee that replacing these items would return the vehicle to operating condition, or correct the problem that caused the belt to have slack and not function properly in the first place
We suggest that he have his motor rebuilt by a trained professional in order to correct all of the underlying issues with his vehicleThis is not a service that Meister Werks offers, but we can provide the contact information for a reputable shop that can perform the work properly

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response
1. My mechanical evaluations were based on statements Meister Werks made to me the day I towed my car away, and were based on the video that was shared with meMy evaluations are also founded by the fact that the engine in question is an interference motor which means that if the timing is off on the top end of the motor it will either be heard, felt, or not runningAgain, since the car was running efficiently with no problems, besides a loose belt Meister Werks could have fabricated by loosening it themselves for proof, and video evidence shows both cam bolts angled in the same manner, AND their claim that the cam bar went on fine, I’m inclined to disbelieve their statement of ‘skipped teeth’ made days afterAdditionally, since the ‘loose’ belt was on the idle side of the motor, there’s no indication that the bottom half of the engine is off timing with the top since the crank drives in a clockwise motion pulling the belt tight from the driver-side cam
2. I’ve spoken to the Service managers around the area, they agree with me that if there was an issue with this vehicle going in, it would have had shown signs of poor performance going in: including noise, drivability, or not running at allAnd since I had clear signs of poor performance after Meister Werks did service, they believe, as I do, errors were made
So now I question at which stage was my vehicle damaged? Per Dave, cars can drive fine with having problems, which would explain how after service was done to my vehicle and Meister Werks test drove it and exasperated the issue they had causedBecause there is no way on Earth I was able to drive for months, around miles a week locally, including a weekend trip to Ocean Shores, and the pass, without having my car breakWith the timing professionally serviced, a driving history, and proof the timing wasn’t flawed, this problem started in this shopSo either their service failed at their promise to fix my car, and did the opposite, or upon test driving they drove my car too vigorously and broke itThey, in fact, were the last ones to drive it
3. Doing service to another vehicle without error doesn’t mean they did this one without errorIf Meister Werks claims to do the ‘right’ thing, I expect them to take responsibility for their mistake or else their longstanding reputation has hit its end
For the final time, I’ll ask Meister Werks to fix my vehicle on their billI understand they don’t do that sort of service so I expect them to contact their reputable shop to perform the work on my engine properly, as was done now months ago, again, on their dollar since they did thisIf not, I’ll seek further legal help from the courts to see that I get dealt with the right way.Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because of the explanation below:
Let me repeat what the problem is, the car was brought in running and yet it was received in a condition in which I could not drive it homeNow, as a matter of the warranty that was discussed over the phone, ‘no guarantee it will fix the underlying problems’ were the words I heardAnd by all accounts the vehicle was running fine for the exception of a belt with slack - that’s the underlying problemThat warranty shouldn’t be an excuse as to why they aren’t responsible for breaking my carThere’s no reason my car should have been returned in worse condition than it was considering the fact it was running fine for months after the last timing service
Now, Dave told me the belt may have slipped some teethShowed me a video of a belt with slack, but had no evidence of the teeth it had skippedAnd yet the video also shows both cam bolts positioned in the same angle indicating that the timing was fine on the top end of the motorHe also told me the cam locking bar went on fineContrasting statementsIf his words were true that it had skipped, the car wouldn’t have ran coming in, and the top end of the motor wouldn’t have been in sequenceTiming wasn’t an underlying problem
MeisterWerks made a mistake, won’t own it, and is using the fact that the car had an issue with its heads being out of timing in the past as a scapegoatFact is, the car ran fine for months except for a loose belt they claim to have seen and taken video of, (which they could have loosened themselves for the sake of ‘proof’)If they do this to me, there’s nothing to stop them from doing work on any other car that has prior engine service, breaking it, receiving payment, and claiming it was the last shops faultThat’s not serving the customer, and definitely not saving me money
For an auto repair shop, their word is as good as their workAnd with a broken car returned to me, their word doesn’t mean a thingConsidering that, I don’t know if the car ran like they stated it had after their service, or if the test drive went as smooth as they say it hadI don’t know if during their test drive they abused my vehicle and screwed up the motor, then did some tweaks in the day I had my rental to cover their mistakesWhat I do know, is that it won’t run now, and it had before they touched it
Again, the complaint is, the car was running and had not skipped timing, periodNow it’s not running after it was in their possessionI expect it to be fixed on Meisterwerks’ bill
Sincerely,*** ***

1: Staff member notified me that Ceramic Coating would not void the warranty.2: Absolutely nothing is mentioned in writing that ceramic coating would void the warranty.3: The vendor which applied the Ceramic Coating has coated several other projects coated by Meisterwerks with no issues4: I have received 4 professional opinions from other powdercoating companies which state "powdercoating is the most durable treatment applied to wheels and rejects all chemicals and forms of corrossion. It is in my opinion that the owner is adjusting the story to fit his own agenda. Furthermore I have documentation and proof validating the fact in writing from his own staff. It is clear to me that David has no interest in resolving this, rather agitating this matter with aggression and speculation. Since he has now accused me of lying, I do feel that I will need to contact the proper authorities to enlighten David of both his business practices and lack of consumer ethics.

[redacted] [redacted] is blatantly lying about his experience at Meister Werks. The time frame and price increased due to the fact the previous work was not done properly and we could not remove the powder coat as easily as expected. [redacted] [redacted] was informed of this and agreed to the extended time frame...

and price. [redacted] [redacted] took delivery of the items and was pleased with the work done - this was after him initially not being please and Meister Werks re-coating the wheels at no charge. This is evidence of Meister Werks honoring our warranty. [redacted] [redacted] then took the items to another shop and altered our product by adding a ceramic coating. These actions by [redacted] [redacted] voided his warranty. His choice to alter our product by adding a ceramic coating voids the warranty with Meister Werks. Had our product not been altered, it would still be in perfect condition as it was when it left Meister Werks. Unfortunately he made a decision to do something to his product that destroyed it and Meister Werks is not responsible for his actions. If [redacted] [redacted] is not pleased with his product currently, his complaint should be directed towards the company who added the ceramic coating resulting in altering and ruining the powder coat.

Mr. M[redacted] has threatened a legal lawsuit against me if I continue my online Revdex.com claim. I am hereby cancelling this claim to avoid the financial threats and legal retaliation Mr. M[redacted] stated in his certified mail which was sent to my place of employment as of 10/19/17. It should be stated that at no time did I share my workplace information with Mr. M[redacted]. This action he has taken of what appears to be a veiled threat towards me by searching me out at my place of employment has put me in a feeling of distress. The manner in which Mr. M[redacted] is conducting his business and his retaliation for my disatisfaction in his business practice, has now put me in harms way financially and in trouble at my place of employment. Mr. M[redacted]'s actions have caused me stress, something I never thought I would have to deal with, and while offering nothing but anger towards my communication and feelings on his work performance. Mr. M[redacted]s appraoch, searching out confidential information on me, and since he is accompanying his threat with financial loss, in addition to those I am already dealing with from conducting business with Mr. M[redacted], I must allow him whatever statements he is claiming with the Revdex.com to go in his favor. To whom it may concern: The vehicle brought in for service was a 2001 Volkswagen Passat. [redacted] called Meister Werks stating he had a coolant leak, and that he believed he needed all four oxygen sensors replaced. Per Meister Werks policy, a diagnostic was performed on the oxygen sensors to...

determine if they needed to be replaced, this is to prevent customers from having to pay for unnecessary repairs. It was determined that only one oxygen sensor was bad, and that the other three were still in good working condition. In an effort to save [redacted] money, only the malfunctioning oxygen sensor was replaced. After explaining this to him, he indicated that he wanted the other three replaced even though they were not malfunctioning. Per the customer’s request, the other three were replaced as well. To diagnose the coolant leak, a detailed inspection of the vehicle’s cooling system was performed. It was determined that the coolant leak was coming from the coolant flange. The only way to access the leaky area is to remove the belts from the front of the motor, including the accessory belt and the timing belt. I called [redacted] to explain what we discovered, and provided a quote to repair the leaky coolant flange. [redacted] approved the quote and told us to proceed with the repair.
Upon disassembling the front components of the vehicle to get to the coolant flange, we noticed that the timing belt had either slipped 4-7 teeth, or the timing was not set correctly. There was an excessive amount of slack on the top side of the timing belt, however is supposed to have even tension all the way around the motor. A video was taken to have this on record, and further investigation was performed. The timing belt was rubbing on the upper pulley bracket so much that it had created a polished finish, further evidence of a timing belt not installed/timed properly. I called [redacted] to discuss our findings with the belt, and I explained that it is very strange that the car is even able to run in this condition and that the timing belt should not be this way. After a lengthy discussion, [redacted] determined that he wanted us to continue with the coolant flange repair, as well as replace the timing belt, the other items that come in the timing belt kit, and set the timing properly. I expressed to [redacted], as he stated in his complaint, that there is no guarantee that replacing these items would return the vehicle to normal operating condition, or correct the problem that caused the belt to have slack and not function properly in the first place. This is due to the fact that Pep Boys, Autosport
Import, and the customer himself had already done extensive repairs, and we do not know the quality of those repairs. Also given the history of the vehicle, as explained by [redacted] in his complaint, we are unaware of what other hidden issues may exist. With this warning, [redacted] still decided that he wanted Meister Werks to proceed with the repairs. Once we started taking components off the vehicle, it became evident that previous work completed may not have been done correctly. Upon removing the timing belt, it was discovered that the previous install of the the timing belt tensioner was not rotated or set properly. Additionally, when removing the coolant flange and thermostat it was found that the flange had not been seated correctly and that the bolts were extremely loose. One of the bolts was stripped, which required re-tapping. The faulty coolant flange was replaced and cooling system was reassembled. A coolant leak test was performed, which confirmed that the cooling system was sealed and the new belts and parts could be installed. We installed the new timing belt, timing belt tensioner, as well as a few other pulleys and minor parts. The timing was set to the Volkswagen specification; cylinder #3 at top dead center and camshaft pulleys at 0 degree lateral with a pulley locking tool and crank shaft locking tool in place. After reassembly was complete, new coolant was added to the vehicle and the car was run in idle for approximately 10 minutes. The car ran great and sounded good, with no clicking or knocking sounds. The technician performed a test drive and confirmed that everything was set properly and that [redacted] could pick up his vehicle. Per [redacted]’s request, the car was parked in front of Meister Werks adjacent to Park Ave N. The customer’s father came in to pay for the service and collect the keys. He indicated that he would return after 6 pm (after operating hours) to pick up the vehicle
At approximately 8pm, I returned to Meister Werks to meet with a supplier. I noticed [redacted] was at his car with the hood open. I approached him to ask if everything was ok, and he indicated that the car was making all kinds of noise. He stated that he started the car and it immediately began making strange noise so he turned it off right away. I told him that he could leave the car and we would inspect it the next day, and gave him our loaner vehicle at no charge. A thorough warranty inspection was performed to ensure that the work completed by Meister Werks was done correctly. The inspection determined that the timing was correct; timing marks were still set in the correct location, and that the job was completed correctly and to Volkswagen specifications. Additional inspection was completed to determine what may be causing the vehicle to run poorly. We speculate that the most likely cause is bent valves due to driving the car with incorrect timing, or camshaft pulley damage due to improper re-assembly (work that was not performed at Meister Werks). As I explained to [redacted] prior to beginning the repairs, there is no guarantee that completing the work requested would resolve the underlying issues of the vehicle. At Meister Werks, we have done our due diligence in insuring that the work performed was
done correctly and to the Volkswagen specifications. It is evident by reviewing the section of [redacted]’s complaint titled ‘background’ that there have been ongoing issues with the vehicle. Not mentioned by [redacted] in his complaint is a timing service completed by Pep Boys. [redacted] informed us that upon completing the timing service, Pep Boys messed up the timing and bent some valves. [redacted] explained that he had to rebuild the heads himself. At this point, we suggest that he have his motor rebuilt by a trained professional in order to correct all of the underlying issues with his vehicle. This is not a service that Meister Werks offers, but we can provide the contact information for a reputable shop that can perform the work properly.

1.       No staff member at Meister Werks ever notified [redacted]. [redacted] that ceramic coating would not void the warranty. His claims that he has this in writing are false. 2.       There is no reason for Meister Werks to notify the customer that altering our product with a specific process such as ceramic coating and/or using it for a purpose it was not intended would void the warranty. The customer never indicated he would be altering our product; had he done so we would have told him our product is not intended to be used in such a manner. 3.       Meister Werks has never heard of any of our products being ceramic coated and have no idea what process this other company is using as there are varying methods to applying ceramic coating to wheels. We are unfamiliar with the company [redacted]. [redacted] is referring to. 4.       Powder coating in fact does NOT reject all chemicals and all forms of corrosion. This is a misrepresentation of how powder coat performs. Powder coating does NOT repel all kinds of chemicals. Powder coat is a polyester based powder. Polyester is not a compound that is stabled under every chemical. Thinners such as brake cleaner will even compromise the powder coat finish. Meister Werks provided a product and [redacted]. [redacted] accepted and approved of the finished product, with ample opportunity to inspect. After altering our product at a different company, it no longer retained the same finish. This is not Meister Werks’ doing. The company that applied the ceramic coating should be contacted by [redacted]. [redacted] to correct this problem as they are the ones who applied the coating that resulted in altering the powder coat. Meister Werks completed the work as promised and our finished product was altered in an unknown way by another company.

Please see the attached letter regarding this complaint. All work performed on the vehicle was authorized by the customer. After expressing concern regarding the bill total, Meister Werks went to great lengths to resolve the issue with the customer. After complete refusal to pay, the vehicle has...

been retained pending receipt of payment.
