Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: It still goes to the business protects itself and has no protection in place for customer so they profited $of my money and I have nothing to show for itThis is a fairly high priced store so to spend more money in addition to what they say I already lost is ridiculous at bestIf someone came in my home and lost $and I found it wouldn't I be wrong to not return their money? This is what they've doneThey can "find" it on their books but they will not return my money or give me another gift cardI will not accept that I walked into their store, spent $+ because I bought an $8.oo birthday card and have nothing but the birthday card to show for the experienceThey have my moneyIf they want to keep my money then they should re issue the gift cardThey should look at their policy as well so customers can be protected if a gift card is stolen or lostThey can stop the card from being redeemed if stolen or re issue if lostIt's not a matter of personal responsibility as one person suggestedI have the proof of purchaseWe called the same day we found out and provided the date/time of purchaseWe offered the bank statement for proof that matches the time and date we gaveThe birthday party was in a public restaurant and accidents happen when people clear tables, gather wrappings etcfor trast was an accidentWe are not trying to get something for nothing as the business did and continues to doWhere is their accountability? How can you justify keeping $without giving merchandise in return? By asking the customer to come in and spend more money with a 50% discount? I'm sure their merchandise is marked up more than that but even if not they would be enriching themselves again at someone else's expense (literally and figuratively)The conversations took place on speaker phone and my husband was on the line but I was making my comments as well and I know they could hear me, I'm not a soft spoken personI made the comments on facebook so buyers could beware and know about this store and their feelings on making $off their customers without a care or concern about keeping the customers money.Sincerely,*** ***

Our store policy regarding Gift Cards, as stated on the back, reads: "Mel's is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged cards."

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: It's not told to the customer and I bought a birthday card there and put it right into the envelopeNo policy in place to protect the customerThey can determine they made a $profit with no merchandise changing handsUnacceptable and appears to be a business without a soulNo concern for the person coming to their store wanting to shop local businessesDo they have insuance for losses in their business? I have none for shopping thereIt takes good character to be ethical in your business dealings and to accommodate the customer who is suffering a loss by choosing to give you their business
