Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/05/12) */ Patient scheduled an appointment and was informed that the credit card deposit of $was required to hold the appointment timeShe was informed that there is a hour cancellation policy and the reason why the credit card is charged is to secure that appointment timeThe office informed her of this when she made the appointmentWhen she cancelled, it was less than hoursThe doctor offered a phone appointment if patient could not come in and she declinedThe doctor was unable to fill that minute slot with another patientThe doctor reached out to the patient twice in the days following the missed appointment and asked if she would like to reschedule for another time, still being able to use the deposit she had paid, and patient declinedThe card was charged hours prior to the appointment and patient cancelled during that time periodPatients who are not comfortable with this policy usually do not provide credit card number to secure appointmentThis is the first time this has ever been an issue for this office for a new patientThis information is clearly indicated on the website: http:// [redacted] What is the cancellation policy? Dr [redacted] requires a 48-hour notification to cancel a session for any reasonIf you provide this advance notification, you will not be charged for the sessionIf you do not provide Dr [redacted] with a 48-hour notification, you will be charged for the missed sessionIf Dr [redacted] ' receptionist can fill your slot at the last minute, Dr [redacted] will not charge you for the canceled session, even if you provide less than hours notice If you are late for an appointment, you will still be charged for the full visitDr [redacted] will do her best to accommodate you, but will need to respect others patients' appointment times Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 8, 2015/05/15) */ Why was Dr [redacted] expecting a 48-hour cancellation notice when it was impossible to do so (Sunday appointment made on a Friday)? Does this make any sense? The customer should be allowed to cancel because sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances (they're not feeling well, emergency situations, etc.), they cannot make their appointment It would be unreasonable to expect a 48-hour cancellation notice for a Sunday appointment made on a Friday The customer couldn't give a hour cancellation notice because the Sunday appointment was scheduled on a FridayIt is impossible for the customer to do soThe hour cancellation notice therefore should have been waived and the customer allowed to cancel within hours, which the customer did The customer is always right and should be allowed to cancel an appointment if she wants toDr [redacted] should not have asked for a deposit because she knew that the patient couldn't cancel a Sunday appointment made on a FridayIt is unscrupulousIt is an unscrupulous practice and it needs to be stoppedShe preys on and takes advantage of unsuspecting peopleShe probably tries to do this scam on everybody who tries to make an appointment with herThis needs to be stopped Dr [redacted] is a scam artistNo medical doctor asks for a credit card number to hold an appointment and charges $for a missed appointment and requires 48-hour cancellation noticeShe is not a hotelIt is exorbitant, out of the ordinary and an unusual and unscrupulous practiceOf course, the client cannot cancel early in advance because she scheduled a Sunday appointment on a FridayAs anyone with their right mind can see, this was totally scam probably done to everybody to tries to schedule an appointment with herShe needs to be reported to the authorities or Medical Board if she is licensed and have her license revokedI now doubt that she is a licensed doctorShe probably doesn't have a license to practice as a doctorThe authorities need to be notified about this Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 10, 2015/05/23) */ Please refer to the doctor's previous response on this matterThe patient was offered a phone appointment as an alternative and she was also told that she can use the deposit she made towards future appointment, which she has declined. If she chooses to report this issue to the Medical Board of California, she may call X-XXX-XXX-XXXX Toll-Free or visit http://www.mbc.ca.govDr [redacted] ' license can be verified using the website
