Melanie's House of Styles Reviews (1)

I went to this beauty salon (Melanie's) in [redacted], MS with the intentions of getting my hair cut and styled like a picture that I showed the stylist. Before I even went to the salon, I texted her pictures of the style and asked her if she could do it, she specifically said yes! Once I made it to the salon, I sat in her chair and asked her if there was anything wrong with my hair or any damage done from being natural for four years. She said no, it is a little dry and advised me to get a better moisturizer. I specifically told her to dye my hair dark brown because I work at the casino and we can't have crazy colors in our hair, she said okay and asked me about the picture I previously showed her and I told her that that style is how I wanted my hair. Once she was done with my hair I looked in the mirror and the color was blonde and she had shaved almost all of my hair off on the sides. I didn't notice the back until I got home and took more pictures. I have bald spots all over my head (especially the back) and it looks nothing like the picture I gave her! I went back to the salon with my neighbor and the manager/owner. The stylist,[redacted], refused to give me all of my money back, she only wanted me to have ten dollars back and I told her to at least give me half back so I could try to buy myself a wig. She still refused and when she finally did, she called me petty, silly, etc. She cut all of my hair off so low that I cannot do anything to it! The manager and barber were there and both said that she didn't have to cut it so low and etc. After[redacted] continued to refuse me my money, the manager/owner,[redacted] actually grabbed her purse and walked out of the room and told her to handle the issue. The barber tried to convince me to let him cut the rest of my hair and to re-do the color, but I refused because I did not trust them after that point to do anything else to what little hair I have left! This salon was very unprofessional! It has not even been a week yet and I do not know what to do!Product_Or_Service: Color, cut, and styleOrder_Number: n/aAccount_Number: n/aDesired SettlementI would like the rest of my money back, and additional for pain and suffering, and to get a custom natural looking wig made until my hair grows back! I will like to settle for $2000.00, if possible to cover all of the extra expenses and the days from work that I have to miss because of my hair.Business Response On that specific day, I,[redacted], was not in the salon. However, [redacted] contacted me via[redacted] inbox letting me know that she had a problem. I told her I would meet her in the salon within the next 15 minutes. Upon arrival I made it to pull [redacted] to a room with [redacted] to discuss the matter. While disputing the problem, [redacted] explained to [redacted] that she gave her the mirror and she looked at her hair and said no problem. She liked the style. However, other clients was in the salon that witnessed this between [redacted] and [redacted] upon leaving and told me she liked her hair. So as I asked [redacted] questions myself about her hair, she told me that she had taken down [redacted] twists 4 days prior to coming to the salon and had not shampooed her hair period. Not even after taking down the twists. Therefore, I called the barber in to help assist because I, myself offered, and asked my barber to help. All 3 of us tried to fix the problem but she insisted to say "No." However, with her speaking about me grabbing my purse, yes I did because [redacted] started to use profanity nonstop and we had other customers and children in the salon where they could also here. I kept talking to her calm but she kept getting louder and rude as other customers came into the shop. Before leaving, [redacted] plainly said loud and clear that she only wanted half of her money back so she could buy some cheap weave and that she is use to doing her own hair. So with all of us trying to solve the situation, she still was very rude. I explained healthy hair care tips to her about her hair and more. (4yrs of being natural- her hair should have been midways of her back). [redacted] did not call her silly. [redacted] said while explaining to her while using such language, that was silly because she kept standing in the room with us using the profanity and then would just get quite until she cursed again. Her hair was not cut low to the point she couldn't do anything with it. She had enough hair to do several natural styles. Plus, we told her that everybody head and texture of hair is different whether you see it in a book or print it off the internet. Everybody occipital, apex, interior, exterior, crown, are all different when it comes to cutting, styling, etc. And of course when getting color the hair to be on the best shape to not cause any breakage after getting it. (You wouldn't want to color damaged hair and leave the ends split). I offered as much as I could, but my business is not ran in such a manner of profanity. [redacted] does not have a problem making her a wig. She can do that. My only problem is, once she left the salon, she went to[redacted] and talked bad about me and my salon. As far as the pain and suffering. I've struggled to build my business from scratch to let anyone do me or my business like that especially after the situation was suppose to be fixed. And I also visited her ** page which is not private. If she suffered and couldn't go anywhere and didn't want anyone to see her hair, I would like to know why she went on[redacted] Street and her hair was done. I'm not the type of person to do anything wrong to anybody. I believe in doing right. So if [redacted] would like a wig made, that is no problem. I would even make an exception to do my hair myself at home if she doesn't want [redacted] to do it and that's not something I do with having family home. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I DO NOT accept their response because after the HORRIBLE experience that I had before and after visiting the salon I do not want any type of hair services from them, whether it is them making me a wig or redoing my hair. I have found someone that does NOT work in the[redacted]'s salon or is even affiliated with her that is an actual business who will make me a good, professional natural looking wig! Yes! I did go to[redacted] Street days AFTER my hair was taken away from me for a friend's birthday party, but what does that matter? That has nothing to do with the bad services that I received from the salon, you don't have to spend money to go walking downtown. The hair that I was wearing was bought with all of the half of the money that I received back from the bad services and then some. I had to use money out of my own pocket AGAIN, every other week since then I have been using my own money in attempt to do my own hair (what's left of it) because the only thing I can do is make or buy cheap wigs. I admit, I used profanity. Why? I was a very angry customer that is why! And if you build a business from scratch then you would honor it and make sure that every person that works there knows what they are doing and make it your goal to keep each and every customer happy so things like this will not happen! [redacted] was so hesitant to give me any of my money back, she did not even want to give half of my money back, I had to stand there and stare her down and get louder with her to be heard because every time she got a text message she would stop, pull out her phone, and text whoever she was texting and not deal with the problem that she had standing in front of her! As far as the children goes, there were no children in the salon except MY own child! I did say that I liked the style, somewhat, but it was STILL nothing like it was supposed to be or how [redacted] claimed that she could do it! But once I made it home it was then that someone noticed the big BALD SPOT in the back of my head![redacted], the owner AND the barber both stated that [redacted] had cut off way too much hair and that she did not have to do that! If they both work there and[redacted] owns the shop and agrees that she did not do it right and it is clear in the pictures that she did not, why is it so much trouble to give all of my money back? I asked [redacted] when I sat down in her chair if there was any damage done to my hair and she flat out said NO! If there was damage done to my hair, as a professional, she should have not even touched my hair until she let me know everything that was wrong with it and had my permission to continue to style it! If there was so much damage done to it then why did she not tell me? Why did [redacted] not suggest another style or say that it would not turn out the way I wanted because of such and such problem or etc. she said none of that and continued to go about her day and completely messed my entire head up! This problem should have never occurred in the first place if [redacted] is actually a licensed cosmetologist, and even then, this still should not even have to be taken this far when as a so called owner and business woman,[redacted] should have this problem fixed the same day and not take it upon her newly hired worker to fix the problem. If there was an actual manager or owner on duty like most normal businesses and hair salons then this problem would have easily been solved or never occurred! The shop says "Melanie's House of Styles" not [redacted]'s. I can and I will take this issue further than this if the problem is not resolved, but I refuse to receive and hair services of any and every form from[redacted], the barber, or anyone else that is affiliated or works at this raggedy shop! It is a shame that I had to leave to go back home to find out exactly who the manager or owner was over this shop through [redacted] because there was no other person there besides [redacted]! And as far as bashing the salon on [redacted], that never happened! I said I would never go again and I suggest that nobody ever goes there and if they do then they should NOT see [redacted] because she obviously does not know what she is doing! If the matters are not settled here then I can easily take them elsewhere where they can be settled because I refuse to let someone give me terrible customer service, call me silly and rude because I am upset about the service AND the loss that I received from a so-called "professional hair salon"!Final Business Response I would provide [redacted] with the rest of her money back and also 3 free services at the same price as her service she received.
