I had work done on my truck in August 2015 and the area of repair failed in Nov 2015 causing a more expensive repair. Melody refuses responsibility.My truck broke down while retuning from vacation in late Aug 2015. We went to Melody Motors and determined was a bearing issue in rear end. Melody made repairs and indicated if there was further issue to contact any [redacted] dealer, as Melfort is approx. 800KM from my home. In mid Nov 2015 the rear end failed to the point where it was not drivable. I took my truck to a local [redacted] dealership to do the repairs as Melody had previously instructed. The Calgary dealer determine the failure to be bad workmanship of the previous repair. I received a bill of 3,042.08 which I paid and then sent to Melody to be reimbursed as the failure was their fault. Melody claims I should have contacted prior to the repair and they would have paid it, but because I contacted them after, they refuse to pay even though the Calgary dealer has documents showing they are at fault. [redacted] cannot help because it is a dealer service issue. It is now 4+ months later and I still haven't been refunded. [redacted]Desired SettlementI want Melody Motors to pay for the repairs caused by their poor workmanship. Business Response Mr. [redacted] had driven 5000km after the repair was performed at our dealership. if in fact it was to be a workmanship issue and that [redacted] clearly stated on their repair order "possible cause to failure over torqued pinion bearing" does not indicate that it is 100 percent a workmanship issue. An over torqued pinion bearing is an immediate issue and does not require 5000km of road testing to present itself as an issue. This would lead me to believe we would be dealing with a defective part in the rear differential, in which Ford parts replacement warranty comes into effect. Ford parts replacement can be performed by any Ford dealer. I would also like to add that [redacted] also replaced axle bearings in their repair with no explanation as to why and likely did not need to be replaced. We were never made aware of the issue until the repairs were performed and Mr. [redacted] had paid his bill. [redacted] never contacted us throughout the repair to ask any questions about the repairs we did, the parts that we had replaced, or for a copy of our invoice. [redacted]. I made contact with [redacted] as I firmly believe we would be dealing with a parts replacement issue and asked them to send the parts to Warranty Parts Evaluation and have Ford determine a cause of failure. I have never heard anything back from Ford and was not the dealer who sent the parts back. [redacted]. [redacted] performed the repairs some of which may not have been necessary, under the assumption we would reimburse him. Charged Mr. [redacted] and left him to recoup his losses on his own. I have tried to help Mr. [redacted] as much as I could with minimal success. A single phone call to us indicating he had an issue with his repair prior to further repairs would have created a different scenario and allowed us help in the repair process and given us a better diagnosis to proceed with any repairs made by [redacted]. Melody Motors stands by the competence of their Technician and without Ford evaluating the parts for root cause of failure we will not be taking responsibility for the unfortunate event that has taken place.
