First I would like to start off by saying while I am taking time to respond to this complaint, most of the information stated is false. If people are going to file a complaint at least get thecorrect Information. I personally waited on Mr. [redacted] and he did get the proper release. As you can see on...

the attachment, the release states that the vehicle must be towed off the lot as he did not have valid plates. That was a decision made by the [redacted] Police Department. He stated he did not have enough money which was $206.70 for the impound and $47.93 for the tow to his residence. This was on 4/27/2015. He then came back to the Impound on 5/1/2015 and proceeded to argue with the dispatcher about the amount owed which was $291.90 plus the $47.93 for the tow out and again refused to pay. I do not know where his brother is getting $47.00 per day storage when we have a contract with the [redacted] Police Department for $20.00 per day. The next problem I would like to address is that the vehicle was repossessed by [redacted] on 5/18/2015. I have attached a copy of the tow bill that they paid and the hold harmless. As you can see, the bill is not $1550.00. Our storage has remained the same for over 2 years. I have also attached the court docket and the vehicle was towed In [redacted], not [redacted]. Also note that Mr. [redacted] has plead not guilty and Is set for pretrial on 6/10/2015. Therefore his license is still forfeited until the case has been closed. Mr. [redacted] has quit a lengthy list of traffic violations according to [redacted] County [redacted] and this hasn't been his first time in our Impound. I would sincerely appreciate people not wasting my time for false complaints as we have been in business for 20 years. We have an excellent rating with the Revdex.com and really don't want it tarnished by people making false accusations. It seems as if the only complaints we receive are about the Impound. My answer to that is to abide by the law and not get your vehicle impounded. We are CONTRACTED with the [redacted] Police Department and have no control over who they impound or why. We have no problem releasing vehicles but we HAVE TO abide by the release conditions. We pride ourselves in running a professional business and I apologize that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with our service but I really feel that his complaint is unfounded. If I can be of any further assistance please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Well I am sorry that this issue cannot be resolved. I know what the facts are and have phone records and witnesses in my office that can verify that I did call and left a message. By the way, I am a female so it would not have been left by my driver. The witness that saw my driver going to your location was a road worker that was putting up signs for the flooding because he asked my driver if he was lost. I am not going to keep playing he said, she said as this matter would have been solved simply by them being there and paying my driver. I have no further responses as I have nothing else to explain. Thank you!

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
First I never had personally called Mel's to get my car. I could have as I stated had someone else take my car since I was not involved in a criminal offense. So no reason for a tow, or storage fee. Next I understand the [redacted] regulations limit storage at $12.00 a day in this exact situation. They did tell me $45.00 a day, as well as being very disrespectful, and rude. I was told even if I had my tags renewed I needed a tow, so no I didn't go get them then at that moment. As far as my driving record, I had just recently got my license back, and had not had them from almost 10 years. Trying to justify their actions by going back over 20 years shows how low they will go. This company is a main reason for the economic problems many lower income individuals in our city face. Their business tactics leave people unable to go to work, school, or other tasks needed to sustain the families. My brother can verify that they said under no circumstances could any other tow company or individual tow in the city. Each time I tried to retrieve my car, he gave a different excuse as to why, and he knows it. This company is not a good company to the people in [redacted], the lower income people know it. An investigation I feel, is warranted at this time.
Regards,
[redacted]

Thank you for sending us [redacted] complaint. I am going to respond in the best way I know how under the circumstances. We were called to an accident involving a tractor/trailer on March 2nd. 2018 by the [redacted] Department. (not by [redacted] Transportation). We arrived on the scene to...

discover that a DOT officer was there inspecting the truck. We assisted the Officer in his inspection which took Several hours. The truck driver and his boss were both at the scene. We did agree to tow the tractor to their facility as it was red tagged. We also put the trailer in a parking lot for them to get with another tractor. They agreed to pay us upon our arrival with their tractor in [redacted]. I personally called and also verified that someone would be there to accept the tractor and to pay us. They told me they would pay us with a check and l gave them the total with tax. I also told them that DOT released the vehicle about 12:45 to be towed and that we were hooking up and would be on our way and that it would take us an hour or so to get there. The gentleman on the phone told me that they had some flooding in the area and that we might have to find an alternate route. When my driver got into [redacted] he had talked to a street department man that guided him to their facility. He got to their facility and their office had closed at 1:00. Why did they not tell me that they closed at 1:00? Our Driver walked around because he saw tow motors sitting out and also saw the Dodge truck that they had at the accident scene. I was actually on the phone with him as he walked around yelling "Hello" trying to find someone. I tried calling the same number that they answered and got an answering machine. I left a message stating we were there and cannot find anyone. After waiting about 30 min. we decided to bring the tractor back to our impound. He actually passed the driver and trailer on the way back to our facility. We assumed that someone would be calling to say they were there but that never happened. Finally on Tues. March 6th. They called and wanted to know why we did not drop the tractor there. He explained that no one was there and we could not receive payment as agreed upon and that he brought it back to our impound. The gentleman on the phone did state that he thought his man would be there but also admitted that their office had closed at 1:00pm and that he would not have been able to pay us. My driver told him that he felt they were trying to get away with not paying us and that the only way we would bring it back down is if we get paid in full with a credit card as we already wasted an entire day on Friday as it was. He also told him that our truck was busy on calls for the day and that they could send their own towing company up to get it, with the money if they wanted to. Later in the day they called back and I gave them a total price for the accident tow, the tow back, storage and sales tax. The gentleman on the phone demanded that we bring his tractor down and told him that our truck was busy and gave them the a number for another towing company In their area. He also told me that the towing company that he wanted to use had no insurance and therefore could not pick up the truck. The next thing I know is that I received the complaint from the Revdex.com and got slandered on social media. Everything that has happened has been a result of their actions and we believe that they had no intentions of paying us when we got there as there office had actually closed at 1:00. I also since learned that they are not authorized as a for hire transportation company according to the [redacted] which makes me question their motives even more. The solution was simple.I am sorry tha[redacted] is not happy with the circumstances, but unfortunately we have been burned before.  I also don’t understand why they waited until Tuesday to call us.  This all could have been avoided if they had upheld their part of the agreement. We have no problem towing the tractor back down to them provided we get paid in full for everything that is owed up to this date and the tow back to there facility up front. We are also requesting that we either get paid with a credit card or bank check due to the circumstances. I also find it ironic that all of the facts from the original complaint were so misconstrued and that I can get the Police report to show that and that they thought we would take the tractor an hour away and not get paid for the job that we had done. We were nice enough to release the trailer to them to pickup as it was. In closing I am sorry for the situation but we upheld our part of the agreement, they didn't. Sincerely, Mel's Towing
