Melvin's Car Wash & Detail Reviews (1)

took my Honda ridgeline to be washed inside and outthe back seats were up as they always are, have gone to this car wash on several occasions and the back seats have never been let down, today they were when the truck was done. I went to the store, opened the back door to put bags in and lifted the seats back up. The spring in one of the hinges was broke and the arm would not stay in place. I called the car wash, explained the issue, she said bring in back and we will look at it. so I drove back. The employee that cleaned my truck came out with the owner to look at the issue. the employee even said, yes the arm was down when I clean the truck. I showed them the arm that now sticks out when the seat is up. and explained the only way it could have happened was when the seat was put down by force. the owner(would not give her name) said well what makes you think it happened here? I said, look you guys just said it was not like that when he opened the door to clean it, and he was the one that put the seat down. she became very rude and said, well I don't know why you think it happened here. I then asked for the business license and her name and number, she gave me the license but nothing else. I told her I would be contacting Revdex.com as I wanted my seat repaired.Product_Or_Service: Car detailDesired Settlementtake my truck to the local Honda dealer and have them repair the spring in the seat so the arm will go down.Business Response We have received & reviewed the complaint made by [redacted]. & we continue to stand by my words that were repeated a couple of times. " How do you know that we broke it? Where is the proof that the Carwash did it?" The fact that the emplyee who cleaned the car is saying yes the seat was up & he used the release button to put the seat down, which is what is included in all the washes to wipe down the seats, unless the customer requests to not touch the seats & [redacted] did not. The statement made by her that at other times shes had her car washed & the seat were left up is not proof. Fact is we move them back, forward, up, down to clean. Which is what a carwash does. If there is something in particular the customer wants or does not they should disclose this at the time they arrive. [redacted] Honda Ridgeline is the the only one of that model that we have done, also is not the only model which has the leg stand feature. From our over 10 years in this business we know how to move seats & recognize these features. The release lever is right on the side in plain sight when the vehicle is opened. Moveing things insidea vehicle like seats, truncks & compartments are not opened or closed by force as [redacted] says. [redacted] also states her seats are left up, & after picking up her car from being washed she states she went to the grocery store & lifted her seat up to place her groceries in & is when she noticed the seat stand stayed erect. As she supposes or thinks that therefore the only way it broke was that we forcefully pulled it by the stand & then breaking it. After doing much research on this vehicle, now much of this makes sense. Fact is & is well recorded & documented this is a very common issues with many Ridgeline consumers due to the fact as is documented its cheaply made. The pulley is made from plastic. The pulley is what makes this feature work. So the seat can be up or down & the stand stay erect or folded. As Many Consumers state that this is an ongoing issue since 2007 & even up to more than once or twice to them. Also as it is reported & documented if you are a consumer whom uses this feature quite often includeing if you are a consumer whom leaves there seat up to 4 hrs up. It will break. As recorded & documented. Many complaints to Honda have been made & has not been recalled because it is not a safety issue. The pulleys are under your standard warranty or extended warranty if purchased. Also some consumers have sent letters or called Honda if they do not have a warranty & with this documentation have had Honda replace the part with a local dealer at no charge. So as recorded & documented [redacted] vehicle issue is not an isolated issue & no Melvins Car Wash did not forcefully or by malice or negligence or for any reason break your " seat"As you state. Assumptioms can not be made. But this documentation & well recorded are not assumptions but fact. I am Sorry that [redacted] feels I am being rude. I, we at Melvins Car Wash continues to stand by our quality & standard of service . Also on the front door is posted a Non Responsability Notice & states , " Melvins Car Wash is not responsible for any lost items, loose moldings, stickers, mirrors, handles, seat belts, cap covers, or any other loose part inside or outside items or pre-excisting issues that can be damaged or further damaged by high pressure washer or cleaning of your vehicle any after market products that are installed by the dealer or third party installers on your vehicle." As I said I am sorry [redacted] beleives the Car Wash is responsible. & I am Sorry that [redacted] also has that impression of us. If [redacted] then did not purchase the warranty or extended warranty then I will offer to [redacted] $150.00 towards the purchase of the pulley & install, as to not waste any more time on this unfortunate incident. This will be the last & only offer. I have sent in seperate emails the links to the forums of discussion on this issue. Please see document onlineConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I will accept the off of $150.00 to go towards the repair of my seat. the check can be mailed to me at[redacted]thank youFinal Business Response Please see document online.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
