My girlfriends car a 2016 Hyundai Sonata was totaled in a accident a couple of months ago. With no damage to the engine, transmission and no airbag deployment she did a buyback from Geico in order to have it fixed. She had faithfully made payments for the last 4 years she intends to use the payoff for the repairs. Even thought the credit union has done this arrangement before dealing with the same body shop she will have the work done at(Checkers) the credit union is refusing to have the title released to Virginia DMV to change it to a salvage title so the rebuild process can begin. In the meantime she will continue paying on the original not with the credit union still holding the title until payed in full.
